[up]Well, I liked the idea. And I get it, you're trying not to make people seem 'above' or 'superior' or whatever. Just wanted to get my point across. Glad we could come to an agreement.

What is so amusing about this? Why do you take lives? How can you forget?

Kay, I hope this gal is alright. I'll try and pop into discussion once I'm not so busy with housework tongue

  • Name: Lyndi
  • Age: About a century old in her years, which translates roughly to a post-puberty teenage human.
  • Gender: Female.
  • Race: Wyvern.
  • Appearance: Here. She's around six feet tall at full height, with a wingspan twice that length.
  • Personality: Often over-exaggerates her own skills and accomplishments, which is partly to cover up her lack of self-esteem ('tis only natural when you're the baby cousin to dragons). And partly because being a Large Ham is her acting forte. She doesn't like to put down others, though, and is generally a pleasant, upbeat individual once you get past the showboating.
  • Bio: Born into a family of surface miners, Lyndi set off on her own path once she realised that working with minerals just wasn't for her. She arrived in Esposi a few years after the college was constructed, and found a new job working as the school's official mascot- hardly as prestigious, but she enjoys it a lot more. Her side objective for the road trip is to showcase her performances everywhere, and also to pick up any tasty gemstone souvenirs along the way.
  • Powers/Skills:
    • Flight: She can maintain flight for hours at a time, less so if she's tired or her wings are injured.
    • Enhanced physiology: Lyndi's main five senses are much stronger than a regular human, particularly her hearing and sense of smell. Her scales act as armour and protect her from otherwise dangerous hazards, such as high-force winds.
    • Performer: Years of playing a mascot have gotten Lyndi interested in theatrics. She has the acting chops and general know-how to put on an entertaining (if over-the-top) performance.
    • Metal/Mineral knowledge: Lyndi can identify most metals and minerals via smell or taste. She also digests them as her main food source, with gemstones being a favourite.
    • Survival knowledge: Lyndi can hunt and fight as well as you'd think a big reptile could. That said she mostly just chases other animals for fun, as she doesn't favour the taste of meat.
  • Luggage:
    • A magical gem-infused choker, fitted at all times around her neck, that translates her reptilian "speech" into English.
    • A shoulder bag that contains: a steel alloy tube used as a chew toy, various scraps of metal for snacks, and an electronic dictionary/thesaurus (voice-commanded, a gift from the college).
  • Other:
    • She's just as likely to ride on top of a vehicle as she is to ride inside it.
    • Her dragon cousins are a sore point for her, and she'd prefer not to talk about them.
    • She's a surprisingly strong swimmer, and has a couple of sea-wyvern relatives that she likes to visit.

I'm, uh, generally bad in regards to scale, but wouldn't a wyvern with a 12 foot wingspan find it hard to fit into a car?

If she stretched them out, yes, but she'd keep them retracted while in the car. A fair bit clunkier than a bird would, but still space-saving.

Though, I guess it might still be a bit cozy. ;•• Would shrinking down by a foot or two suffice?

Like I said, I'm bad with scale. I dunno how that would be... arm space is a consideration, after all, and all the extra skin from the wings also take up space... Anyone with a good sense of scale willing to draw a wyvern in a car?

EDIT: Oh, and tail room! I forgot about tail room! Arghrgrhrgh logistical probleeeems

DOUBLE EDIT: I don't think the size she's at makes her riding inside the car viable, and having her outside the car is restrictive for on-the-road interactions. Unless you're willing to make her, like, "pet-sized" I don't think the character will work from a sheer spacing standpoint.

TRIPLE EDIT: Though someone pointed out to me through PM that if we're running RVs, we could probably make room for her. Though our two vehicles haven't been finalized yet. Uhh... can I get back to you on it? Sorry.

Nah, I'm sorry for creating logistic problems. Kinda hard to figure out how a fantasy character would fit in modern transport orz

I'm fine with waiting on the car consensus, or just shrinking her down to pet size. Might actually make her showing off seem all the more ironic tongue

I concur with Starbound's opinion... As cool as it would be to roll around in our own personal Tardis, there's just something "charming" about commuting inside that ugly van your friend refuses to throw away because they insist it's full of memories. It just wouldn't feel like a real road trip without a crappy vehicle or two. tongue

being the lazy fool that I am, and considering it was fine the first time around. Have Yuyu. Again.

  • Name: Yuna Yukikuro (Some people call her Yuyu.)

  • Age: 17

  • Gender: Female

  • Race: Yuki-onna (snow woman)

  • Looks like http://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=1275351, dresses like http://safebooru.org/index.php?page=post&s=view&id=1001783 (except the shirt is solid icy blue. no stripes)

  • Personality: Rather bubbly. She loves having a good time and is actually rather excitable despite being what one would normally expect to have a rather… icy… personality. She is also a heavy time rock fan and often rocks out on her electric guitar. Expect many, many rock outs while on the road.

  • Bio: A foreign exchange student from a land across the seas, she quickly made friends with the people at school. She eagerly decided to go on the road trip, and is looking forward to lots of fun adventures.

  • Powers/skills:

    • Icy touch: Her skin is naturally cold and can be used to freeze things at a touch. Normally however she at least keeps it so that her skin is pleasantly cool to the touch so she doesn’t freeze every single unlucky guy to accidently touch her.

    • Personal Snow Cloud: More of a Yuki-Onna perk than a power. Sometimes she spawns a personal snow cloud above her head when she gets happy enough.

    • Guitar: She’s a rocker. She is actually a really good one at that.

    • Driving: She does have her license. If she’s driving in a stressful situation the next person to drive may want to let the steering wheel handle thaw before driving next.

  • Luggage: Has a suitcase devoted to regular clothes, as well as a suitcase devoted to stage clothes. Also has her guitar and associated things (spare strings, tuner, et cetera)

  • Other: Has an mp3 player with various rock music band songs on it and noise cancelling head phones that she usually has around her neck. Also may act as one of the van’s coolers.

  • Name: Charles Danker Averyville Lendel (Name, Park, City, Country) but people call him Charlie for short
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Male
  • Race: Ent. How an Ent actually is made is a mystery. Any sort of plant life accruing sufficient mana from the air can form a spark of living, which grows to become an Ent. This is why trees are the most likely candidates, being the longest-lived of plantlife. Moreover, where there is a congregation of Ents, it is easier for new ones to be born.
  • Appearance: its a tree woo. Somewhere in the range of 7-8 feet tall.
  • Personality: Charles's spot was favored by teenagers coming in after school to relax among other things, and thus he has inherited some of their attributes, which is not limited to stubbornness and close-mindedness. He is also basically the most experienced teenager ever due to this, having a wealth of 'knowledge' granted by countless random teens shooting the spit under his shade. But this does not imply maturity anymore than an olympian with a hundred bronze medals implies a gold-caliber athlete.
  • Bio:

Danker Park is a prime location for activity. It is close by the local high school, meaning that teenagers tend to flock there during their off periods. At the same time, it isn't all that far from the college, allowing undergraduates to come back there out of a sense of nostalgia.

Charlie is the youngest of the Danker Grove, planted some 18 years ago. A combination of his fellows' presence and and multiple generations of freshmen allowed his spark to grow quickly. However, he was content to watch, listen... and that's how Charlie gained the mindset of one. As time goes by, some would notice that the tree they sat under was breathing, had moved ever slightly... that it was alive. And Charlie too would speak occasionally, offering shitty life advice garnered from listening to hundreds of teenagers.

Of course, the elders wanted Charlie to gain some worldly experience. At Alice's suggestion, Charlie agreed.

  • Powers/Skills:
    • Superior Constitution and Strength - He's in the form of a tree, dude. He's strong and tough.
    • Pheromones - Whatever sort of plantform they inhabit, Ent leaves are actually sought out among certain circles. By being burnt, they release mind-altering pheromones into the air that can induce feelings of peace, anger, etc.
    • Chloroglot - Charles can talk to all sorts of plant life, even alien plants.
    • Conscience Transferral - Ents are spirits of nature, and thus are capable of residing within any sort of plant. However, Charles, being too young and inexperienced, cannot transfer to plants except for newly sprouted ones.
  • Luggage:
    • Bag of seeds - Kind of a diplomatic venture. Charles intends to seed all kinds of Esposi plants across the Lendel countryside, in addition to gathering the seeds of different places.
    • A Kindle Fire (Or equivalent) - He's not going to read off of paper books. It is equipped with a travel guide.
    • A Lighter - ???
    • A suitcase filled with bottles of fancy mineral water
  • Other:
    • Slow but dexterous
    • Gets really really drowsy when night falls

Ugh I will finish this off soon but I wanted to post something so!

  • Name: Danica Fiedler
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Half human, half Samodiva
  • Appearance: Danica has medium-brown skin and long, white hair. She's on the tall end of average height, and rather slim. Her eyes are a reddish-orange color, and she tends to prefer simplistic and practical clothes.
  • Personality: Danica is a generally responsible and conscientious person. She tries to be cheerful, friendly, and helpful to most everyone. However, she has a quite short temper and can be very stubborn.
  • Bio: Danica is the daughter of a Samodiva and a human violinist who fell in love and had, for a few years, a decently successful travelling show. She's currently studying at the Averyville college with a major in magimechanical engineering, as she had a childhood love for taking things apart to see how they worked (her mother is slightly disappointed that she doesn't want to perform as a career, but supports her anyways.) She met Andreia through the school's LGBT organization, and the two have been dating for about a year and a half.
  • Powers/Skills:
    • Pyrokinesis: Danica can create and throw magical fire
    • Shapeshifting: Danica can transform between her normal self, her normal self + wings and quite sharp claws, and a monstrous swan-like bird.
    • Dancer: Though Danica does not have her species’ entrancing abilities beyond looking generally nice most of the time, she is a skilled ballet and ballroom dancer.
    • Experienced Camper: Danica has periodically gone camping and hiking and is pretty good at it.
    • Driving: Danica has a driver’s licence
    • Mechanical Skill: Danica is studying magimechanical engineering in college.
  • Luggage: One large, heavy-duty camping backpack and a suitcase. These contain a book of puzzles, crosswords, and sudoku, five mechanical pencils with replacement lead and erasers, one laptop, one reading tablet, assorted chargers, one bag of toiletries, one waterproof bag of medical supplies (advil, sterile bandages, bandaids, etc), various maps, nonperishable snacks, one extremely-well-folded blanket, a small pillow, a small umbrella, a flashlight, backup batteries, and clothes suitable for various climes and weather.
  • Other: Danica’s parents used to have a sort of travelling show before she was born, and have given her their blessing to use the RV that they travelled in. She’s gotten it up and running and replaced the most time-damaged parts, though the whole thing is still rather worn and smells noticeably of cheese.

Alright, I want to actually be on the road trip too, so here's your GMPC for today. Don't worry, she won't be taking a slot.

  • Name: Diana Grey
  • Age: 56 (looks about 23, 24?)
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Werewolf
  • Appearance: Diana is a Dark Skinned Blond who stands at about 5'6" with orange irises. Tends to prefer baggy, comfortable clothing that more or less screams "I want you to think I don't care about my looks." Buuut her short hair is well kept and she wears a respectable application of make up, so who knows.
  • Personality: Diana acts tough and tomboyish and cynical, but most of that is just an attempt to look cool. She shows she cares about others by making snide remarks, and her facade breaks pretty easily under enough teasing - which she is quite susceptible to. Also has a soft spot for cute baby animals.
  • Bio: One of Rachel's neighborhood friends, a young Diana was very confused and bitter-sad-angry when her friend moved away to the big houses that her family could never afford. Unlike Rachel, Diana stayed in that poor block for most of her life, turning into a werewolf at age 15 due to a somewhat overzealous (now ex)-boyfriend. Still, she managed to get into college... eventually (after a few rough dead end decades she'd rather not mention) and got reacquainted with her old childhood friend. Hearing about the road trip through Rachel (who she insists she doesn't like and isn't her friend despite all evidence to the contrary), Diana decided to tag along too.
  • Powers/Skills:
    • Involuntary Transformation: Becomes a black wolf during full moon nights, which is rather inconvenient. She retains some presence of mind, though she's more prone to follow instincts and she can't talk in this form.
    • Partial Transformation: Can change parts of her body into a half-bestial form, convenient if she's not quite strong or fast enough to do things.
    • Enhanced Body: That being said, being a werewolf does make her naturally stronger, tougher, quicker, and with quicker reflexes than if she were a normal human.
    • Enhanced Senses: Sees better (especially at night), smells better, hears better.
    • Excellent Chef: Because of how smell and taste are so closely related, Diana is actually a pretty good cook, especially when given the right ingredients. She doesn't like to advertise it though because it clashes with the "tough gal" look she's going for.
    • Technically Licensed: Diana can drive and knows the rules of the road, but she loves to speed, race, and show off, so might be best to keep Initial D away from the wheel.
  • Luggage: Clothes, cellphone, deodorant, make-up, all around normal stuff mostly. Also keeps a can of "ocean scented" aerosol in case some smell disagrees with her enhanced senses.

EDIT: Also, I decided to rename Esposi to my recommendation for the original RP - Averyville. I just sort of like the generic soundingness of it. tongue

Hey there.

  • Name: Bud
  • Age: 15
  • Gender: Male-identifying?
  • Race: Possessed Gibson Les Paul Bass
  • Appearance: He was in a photoshoot once.
  • Personality: Bud prefers to stick to a state of consistent togetherness and order and sees himself as responsible for helping others find peace, fitting his nature as a tool to keep rhythm. However, given his recent abandonment and move into the road trip, he's sort of suffering from a lot of stress right now.
  • Bio: Bud was created by the rebellious son of an eldritch weaponsmith, who used his skill at creating intelligent weapons to instead create a guitar that would play itself. However, the kid noticed that with the basic personality all the intelligent weapons his family made, Bud lacked a real personality, so the kid imbued Bud with an eldritch personality of his own: one of a chill, laid-back bassist, someone who really wanted to make sure everyone was in tune. This was sacrilege to his family's school of weaponcrafting, and Bud was tossed out to the trash to rot. However, the magic in him kept him durable, and before too long he got picked up by some trash-pickers, thrown into a van's trunk, and forgotten about—until someone eventually opened that trunk, someone who was apparently going on a road trip. There were even musicians on board for it—damn shame none of them play bass!
  • Powers/skills:
    • Speech: Bud can talk, coming out sonorous, calm, and low at all times—regardless of his actual emotional state.
    • Durability: Bud's very difficult to destroy—he doesn't burn or freeze, and he's totally bulletproof. Supernatural energies and superhuman levels of force do work on him, though, and he's definitely showing the wear an old guitar gets.
    • Music: Bud can play himself at a basically proficient level.
    • Bass Bond: Should someone take up Bud as a wielder, Bud becomes infinitely more beautiful, playing with expert-level skill and mechanically precise rhythm.
    • Sense: Bud can see in an extremely wide angle in front of him through highly precise echolocation via strumming his strings.
    • Articulation: Bud can manipulate any strings threaded into the neck as he pleases, even unstringing them from the base of the... bass... to use as improvised limbs or appendages.
  • Luggage: Bud isn't even sure if he can legally own property.

Back after a long hiatus
#42: May 13th 2015 at 7:27:59 PM

Name: Andreia Dos Santos.

Age: 20.

Gender: Female.

Race: Anhangá, a nature spirit that protects animals, especially the women and young.

Appearance: This, but with two small antlers poking out above her hair and dressed in a t-shirt and jeans. Also muted red eyes, rather than green.

Personality: Quiet and reserved most of the time, but with an off-the-wall sense of humor and the tendency to snark a lot. She came along on the trip because she thought it'd be fun, and an opportunity to meet new people.

Bio: Andreia was born in a small town in the middle of nowhere, to a human father and an Anhangá mother. Her father worked as the town's sole teacher, and her mother would stop in at least twice a week to visit. Her father is a huge nerd, and taught Andreia all he knew about video games, how to play them, and which ones were best. When she decided to go to college in Averyville, her parents were fully supportive, if a bit teary, and she still emails back and forth with them. She once played Sonic '06 against her father's advice. She still twitches whenever someone mentions it.

Powers/Skills: She can turn into an albino deer, which is occasionally useful. Also very good at video games, and technically has her driving license, though she drives like a maniac.

Luggage: A small suitcase containing various changes of clothes, a bunch of books to read, and the 3DS equivalent with about half a dozen games, along with other necessities.

Other: Andreia loves videogaming and reading, and is decently skilled in capoeira. She's majoring in a generic math degree and minoring in all the interesting little things, like linguistics, world history, and chemistry. And finally, she is lesbian, and met Danica through the school's LGBT organization. They've been going steady for a year and a half now.

@ daltar: Rachel is accepted. Just try not to sleep off the whole day, most of us aren't nocturnal! [9 slots remaining]

@ V Phantom: Alice is accepted. Hope she gets wifi. [8 slots remaining]

@ sgtpendulum: GO BACK TO THE OCEAN, YOU DAMN FISHFOREIGNER- o wait ur my cogm nvm [GM slot exception]

@ kagescorpionakki: All issues have been worked out already, so Damien is accepted. Let's all work together to get a lifetime ban in not!Vegas! [7 slots remaining]

@ svenorzokarkoff: My main issue here is you say Hayate's coming from another village, rather than being from Averyville, so I don't know how he might connect to the other characters. Maybe an online friend or pen pal yes, but there's sort of a detachment from relational opportunities there. One of sgtpendulum's recommendations is having him be a exchange or transfer student to Averyville's college, have him get to know Tamae or Yuna through that program.

@ whizzerd: To be honest, still a lil worried about the size. Well, one of the characters is providing an RV, so it's fine, but could still be unwieldy... though we could have a fair amount of shenanigans just trying to sneak her into places too. Hmm...

@ Solus Lupus: Yuna is accepted. After all, who needs an ice cooler when we have you? [6 slots remaining]

@ Hazzy Haz: Like with Hayate, I'm not sure how Charles fits into character dynamics. And the "exchange" thing gives the road trip a flavor of "officiality" that's not really there. If it's more of a "parent thinks this would be good for their lazy kid" kind of thing, that might work. Oh, and V Phantom would be cool with establishing a friendship between Charles and Alice. Get those sorts of things cleared up first, yeah?

@ Karrin Blue: Danica is accepted. Now dance! DANCE FOR MY AMUSEMENT! [5 slots remaining] [transportation provider]

@ Starbound2: what the fuck is this shit- oh that's my character [GM slot exception]

@ Taco: Bud is accepted, you fuck. Hope you find someone willing to carry you around. [4 slots remaining]

@ Tojin: Andreia is accepted. I am out of wit to fake, so. [3 slots remaining]

Like with Hayate, I'm not sure how Charles fits into character dynamics

You mean like why he would know the others? I figure that his grove is popular with people of their age. The kids will go there, talk about shit, maybe talk to him. Alternatively, I could have him go to school with the others. Maybe be the soccer team's goalie.

And the "exchange" thing gives the road trip a flavor of "officiality" that's not really there. If it's more of a "parent thinks this would be good for their lazy kid" kind of thing, that might work.

Sure. Maybe a bit of both. Like "Your aunt in the middle of your trip has my lucky acorn, go get it."

Oh, and V Phantom would be cool with establishing a friendship between Charles and Alice.

Sure thing.

Okay, here's my acceptance priority list for the slots:

  • Charlie(I actually prefer the old bio better, has that 'big brother' feels to it. He would know about it just from word of mouth, specifically from either Alice(Because according to the skype chat, she likes gardening) or Alexi(Because she's a lonely nerd and willing to talk to a tree), no need to be directly involved in college classes if you choose not to. Sorry that I didn't mention it earlier.)
  • Lyndi (Well, I kinda don't like the idea of Lyndi to be as small and thin as that green dragon dude(Fuck, its been like a long time since I watched that show) but I like that idea for the logistical problem Star is having. But in my opinion, I kinda prefer to be bit big and have to sit on top of the vehicle roof. Lends a certain charm of a 'frat boy solution', if you will.)
  • Hayate (A bit boring for me but otherwise acceptable, I wanna see how this dude does in the actual RP.)

But we have exactly 3 slots anyway, so if it were up to me, I'd say you're all in but Star has the ultimate saying in that.
