It's relying on the caption to get the trope across. I've got something in mind, but it'll be later before I can search for pics.
I have a vague memory of an image from "Rom - Spaceknight" with him using his neutraliser on a Dire Wraith to send it to Limbo, and the picture being split to show the Limbo dimension as the Wraith enters it on one side while simultaneously showing it exiting "our" world on the other side.
I wish I could remember where I saw it, and even whether or not it was ever more than just my imagination.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMWell, the current is a Keep Until Better Image Suggested. It does show some weird weapon and some kind of field or distortion you'd expect from such a gun, so it's not entirely useless. Could definitely be better, though.
Check out my fanfiction!Too esoteric◊? It's the Ork Shokk Attack Gun from 40K, which vacuums a Snotling into one end and shoots it through a Warp portal toward the target.
As obvious as Portal seems, portal guns don't work they same way as is typical for this trope, as the standard concept is for whatever you shoot to be teleported. And of all the images you could find of portal guns, either from in-game or fan-art, that webcomic isn't exactly the prettiest.
Sticking with the Half-Life universe, there's the Displacer Cannon from Opposing force, but I can't find a good image of that. There's this◊ from Garry's Mod, which is a great illustration, but the downside is that it uses the same model as the gravity gun, which might confuse some Half-Life players.
Clock is set.
I've unclocked the thread and started a crowner.
Try crunching that portal gun one to 350px and see how it looks. I have a feeling it'll be awful.
It may not have a lot of zing, but it certainly works.
I thought of that example, but I didn't think there was a way of showing it, since it's confused for a Disintegrator Ray. I vote for the Futurama example.

"Lousy thing doesn't even disintegrate stuff right."
No consensus on a caption; locking up.
Crown Description:
There is no description for this crowner.
Maybe it's just me, but I really don't get "teleporting" from this. The POV character is using a two-handed laser weapon on some dungeon mook, but whether it's used to trap, incinerate, disintegrate, or indeed transport the creature someplace else is something I don't think is clear from the image. Keep Until Better Image Suggested?
