I've always mixed up the two different pronunciations of "Contrast", (for instance, turning up the "kun-trast" of an image.)
I'm Valyri. I make music.I always pronounce "hermaphrodite" with a silent h.
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"When I first encountered "Yosemite" in print, I assumed it was something like "yaws might". The particularly weird part is that I'd unknowingly heard "Yosemite" pronounced aloud many times because of watching cartoons that featured Yosemite Sam - I'd never seen his name written down, didn't connect it with the place at all, and was expecting it to be spelled "Yo Sammity Sam".
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage.I always thought it was "yoz-ah-might".

Tedious —> Me: "Teditious"

There is no disdain in nature, there is no humiliation."teditious" sounds like a portmanteau of tedious and seditious. Like, if someone managed to incite rebellion in an incredibly boring manner, they'd be teditious.
Earth is the only planet inhabitable by Nicolas Cage. For the longest time, I've always pronounced "sidereal" like a compound word. Turns out that it kinda-rhymes with Siberia.
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"There are two widely accepted pronunciations of Sidereal. One is sort of like "see-de-real" and the other is more like "sigh-de-real".
"..."I still pronounce "Zeus" as "Zee-yuss".

"what the complete, unabridged, 4k ultra HD fuck with bonus features" - Mark Von LewisTIL that "albeit" is pronounced "ALL-be-it", not "æl-BEYT".
"Rarity, are you okay? We gotta get you and your friends outta here soon!"Same!

I used to pronounce "croutons" as "crow-she-ons" when I was smaller.
"My light shall be the moon, and my path the ocean, my guide the morning star as I sail home to you...."For the longest time I thought "Freud" rhymed with "rude" rather than being pronounced like "froyd".
Do names count? If so, I just learned the proper way to pronounce "Godot." Should come in handy if I ever have to get acquainted with Waiting for Godot or do a let's play of Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations.
I don’t even know anymore. One I just figured out is deva (like the mythical creature/kind of angel from Dungeons And Dragons) I thought it was "dee-va" but it's "day-va". This makes me wonder how Terra Deva says her last name

reh-sih-pro-shal
for reciprocal?
also @ 153 I make the same mistake with the two meanings/pronunciations of "attribute" i.e "what is your character's highest uh-trib-ute"
Also is the i in nostalgia supposed to be silent or is either one ok?
You don't say it, it functions to make the g a jay sound.
You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My Tumblr
Non-native speaker, learned most of my English from the Internet, so I probably don't know the correct pronunciation of half my vocabulary.
Though even before that, I distinctly remember kid me realizing that "thunder" wasn't pronounced "tunder".
