Does Not Illustrate (runoff crowner 8/9/14): Bathing Beauty

The problem with the current picture is, as the examples point out, that although Kagome is an example of the trope, the picture isn't one of her bathing — she's unconscious and in giant cooking pot of soup. And as the caption point out, the coloring just make it looks weird.

I understand that we would want to keep the illustration SFW, but there's no dearth of pictures with bubble censorship or the like than can fit. Especially in the Anime Bath Scene Wiki (don't go there if you're at work).

A few quick suggestions:

• Faye Valentine◊ from Cowboy Bebop.
• Blair◊ from Soul Eater.
• Bulma◊ from Dragon Ball.
• Honey Kisaragi◊ from Cutey Honey.

Looking at the suggestions, 1.1 & 1.3 seem the less risqué of the bunch.

The current one looks like a Hot Springs Episode or a Japanese Public Bathhouse Scene which is a separate tropes (sub or offshoots?). That is a big vote for removal.

How about this?◊ or this I think it might be better but slightly more risque◊. EDIT: Nevermind those are Furo Scene, *shrug* 1.1 looks good to me.

I like 5.3 the most.

5.3 is more classy than the others, though I'm not sure that makes it more or less illustrative.

I would favor 1.1 personaly; Faye is a good example, the pic is wholesome, and the book add a hint of "spends lots of time in the bathtub".

I would personally choose 5.3.

Just to confirm, is Bathing Beauty a Fanservice trope?

Most examples will, but it's not necessarily a fanservice trope.

While I like the Lichtenstein picture better than the anime ones, I'm afraid it might not be an example. The trope doesn't seem to be 'woman bathes', but rather 'recurring female character in a work has a notable affinity for bathing.' For all we know, the woman depicted in the Lichtenstein image might never have bathed before in her life.

Lichtenstein picture is best picture.

Bump for votes; two in the green but the Lichtenstein is the only one with a workable ratio.

I prefer Faye or Bulma image. Only a head is insufficent.

@16: Whether or not it's an example matters less than whether or not it's illustrative. None of the Anime suggestions illustrate the definition you mentioned either. In fact, their indifferent/neutral expression they have while bathing suggests the opposite.
