Power Rangers Cyber Force- RP idea

Because I want to I am posting this idea here and people can post their own ideas about what could be added to make it more...interesting and stuff.

The story starts in the year 2XXX where the internet is now a virtual reality experience. People go about their business online doing their jobs, playing games, hanging out with people all around the world, and just having fun. But one day this peaceful existence was threatened by the Hacker Group .Control. .Control sent out their Virus beasts into the Web and started causing all kinds of chaos, almost bringing the world to its knees. In retaliation to this the Cyber Net Security Council have brought together five of the best programmers in the world and given them new anti virus programs to attach to their virtual avatars. The Ranger Programs, which allows each of them to assume a new form online, giving them access to powerful weapons to fight against .Control and their armies of viruses. It is now up to them to stop the Virus Beasts and try and track down .Control before their power grows out of control.

So thats the basic story. I was thinking for characters there would be a red ranger as a leader, but the other four could pick which outfits they want. Players could also choose what weapons and robots they would have for the inevitable boss fights.

I was thinking that the game would be divided into 'Episodes' which would break down like this

Rangers interacting at base Monster attack Rangers fight monster and goons Monster either escapes or something else happens Rangers deal with something in real life caused by virus Rangers either need to split up to solve real world thing and fight virus or refight virus Boss fight with robots against Giant monster and mega goons Battle ended, things resolved, end of episode.

So thoughts?

I dig it. It's like Tron and ReBoot melded with PR. I say just call the monsters viruses. Virus beasts just seems a tad redundant if they physically take beast form already.

Have you any idea of how your Hacker big bad(s) will function? Will there be a leader and subordinates, or are they a leaderless collective? Also for the rangers themselves I'd like whoever gets Red to RP them as female since we have so few real life girl red rangers, but I guess that's something we have to negotiate. OH, can one of the rangers or one of their allies be an ex-hacker turned programmer with connections to the big bad(s)?

Why not have the Virus beasts be able to take human form? That can give it a whole, "Whodunnit" feel.

Also, why not have the beasts the rangers themselves use be Virus beasts themselves?

To answer you Sisi I was thinking about having .Control not have any clearly defined leader to start out with, but more lead by a small group of hackers that each control an aspect of the organization. Like one that focuses on subtle viruses, or more aggressive ones and having each of those be a part. Maybe later on reveal one of them to be the big bad, or maybe something along those lines. Also yes I would love to see a Red ranger who was a woman, but that would be totally up to the players. As for back stories I was going to leave that to the players, within reason of course. Same with weapons and their own zords, since other than the basic ranger program they could create mods to it to more flow with their own style. As for the Virus/Virus Beasts thing I agree the name is cheesy, but I thought since we were going with a Power Rangers RP why not make it a bit cheese?

Troyand Hawk- I get where you are going with making Viruses able to take human form, but at the same time I don't know if I really love the idea. I kind of like just having them be able to wreck the real world through the internet more, keeping the fighting action to cyberspace so I don't have to worry about the real world destruction of Ranger fights in an RP where it will mostly be young adults/adults playing who might not wave that kind of thing away. And I don't really understand what you are saying with the beast comment. You mean have the Rangers remake the defeated Virus Beasts into Zords or something like that?

I'd like to join if that would be alright.

So thats three people with interest. I think five would make it so we could rock it.

No I was suggesting that the Zords could have been once Virus beasts that have changed sides.

Though remaking the viruses sounds pretty cool

What if the Viruses are like, corrupted programs that the rangers can fix and use as their zords?

Hm, though it'd kind of be difficult to make a Power Rangers series without a mini-boss squad, The Dragon and the Big Bad - the monsters need someone to be sending them out.

Who would the villains using the Viruses be?

I've had some Power Rangers-ie villain names floating around for a long time, tied into the tech theme, so...

Deletior, Cracken (pun on computer cracker and kraken), Immers (people get immersed in computer games...a stretch I know), Malware, Spyware (probably an Enigmatic Minion / The Spymaster), Trojan (has The Brute written all over him)...

Just some ideas - I don't mean to tell the GM how to write his story.

So if there are people interested in this still I will be posting what is needed for character sheets and answer any of the last few questions.

The people sending out the monsters will be .Control's core hacker group of five generals without a single defined leader.

Maleware- This hacker focuses on making his viruses strong and his plans usually focus on just sending in large numbers of enemies to bury the Rangers. Virtual avatar looks like a massive Frankenstiens Monster looking creature with two bolts in his neck.

Spyware- Can be considered the groups spook, his viruses focus on being shifty and focuses heavily on strategy. Virtual avatar is a tall figure buried in a trench coat, hat, and large glasses.

General Hertz- Probably the oldest of the group, uses well defined strategies and usually combines the plans of Maleware and Spyware to create a half decent plan. Virutal avatar looks like a robot in a generals uniform with a number of medals and badges.

Trollz- The youngest of .Control, who seems to mostly help the organization because he gets kicks out of it. His plans always seem random, but in his own way they are actually oddly brilliant. Virtual avatar appears as a small blue creature with a nasty smile.

Hacker- The most skilled hacker in the entire organization. Despite not having a leader many of the others still look up to him, and will modify their plans if the go ahead isn't given. Virtual avatar is an older looking man with silver hair and wearing a suit.

The minions are 'Hacks', humanoid looking robots without faces that can carry a variety of weapons into the battlefield. They aren't strong, but they make up for it by virtue of sheer numbers.They can combine together to form upgraded Hacks, but don't gain to much from it.

Rangers will all be equipped with their own unique Zords, which can be made up of smaller Zords or just act as a single mech. Ranger Zords don't need to combine together as each has enough power to act on its own, but if players want they can work together to fuse Zords for a fight if they are willing to let one take control. When .Control grows a monster they will usually grow a number of Mega Hacks to join with its Virus Beast so their will be enemies for all.

Before anyone asks why not use the Zords right away its rather simple, massive fights between Zords and Monsters cause damage to cyber space, so jumping to the Zord to strike small targets could result in more damage then just fighting them normally.

On the good guys side they are working for Cyber Defense, an organization that works to protect cyber space from hackers and viruses. The main people within it are the leader, an A.I. known as Zalek who manages the systems and rangers, and its creator Klein, a mad scientist type who is a good person at heart

Okay onto Ranger character sheets. I am thinking Five will work, through Six is fine too. Since this is an RP and it would be harder to introduce someone in halfway through.

Special Weapon (All rangers get a blade or gun, but this is their special weapon)

Zord: (Can be anything, old Zords from previous Era's, Mecha from other show, etc. This RP is run on trust so I will be asking you to keep it sane)

Bio: (Basically how they ended up being noticed by Cyber Defense to become rangers. Can be bad guys turned good, but have to be good guy or at least against .Control)

If there are any questions feel free to ask, if not post the characters here and I will start working on an intro post once everyone is done.

Oooh, this is an interesting concept. I haven't seen anything past Lost Galaxy but I'm down for it if you still have room.
