Changed w/o discussion: Good Luck Gesture

"Good Luck" Gesture pic was changed without discussion though the previous pic was not chosen in IP either. I PM'd the troper several days ago but I haven't heard from him.

Current:

I don't think it's a good illustration. It seems to me like it's a parody of thumbs up that means "Everything is ok" or "I'll be fine".

OK, I uploaded this one. I know the context and it's definitely thumbs up for support and good luck and the crying woman implies a difficult situation, but I understand it easily comes off as JAFAAC.

There is also a pic from The Simpsons in the ykttw archive, but some interpreted it as Lying Finger Cross because there was no context.

Probably best if we find something new.

I like the little girl best.

I very much like the little girl. The woman is a distant second.

More supporting of the drawing - both the girl and the woman have facial expressions that don't suggest the trope to me.

I think the little girl looks like she's wishing really hard for something. Works for me.

Yeah, the little girl is my favourite, too, and if I'm not mistaken, it was suggested in the YKTTW phase by Tropers/lexicon, though the link is dead now — I'm glad I found it elsewhere on the net.

Love the pony caption idea, too.

Another vote or two for the girl and we can run with that plus the pony caption.

There is nothing wrong with the thumbs up in the swamp image. It is funny.

I'll admit freely that I sort of skipped over that image. That argument sounds good to me, so I'll thumb that one up as well.

I disagree; under the circumstances, it looks like the person is saying "I'm okay!" or "Everything's cool!" rather than "Good luck!"...amusing doesn't make up for incorrect, plus the cute/heartwarming factor of the little girl is too good to pass up.

Methinks that it would fit into "Good Luck" Gesture anyhow - the good luck expressed doesn't have to be to other people.

Since there are many types of this shouldn't there be one of each?

One for every kind of gesture? Emphatically not. It would be like an Ameslan dictionary.

I think he may mean making a collage of the various gestures on this page...I'd be open to that provided it's not too big.

Clock is set. The girl has some consensus...I'm fine to go ahead and use her, but we can crowner this, too.

The problem with the double thumbs up pic is because a double thumbs up means FUCK YOU in some Arabic cultures.

For all we know, the guy is giving one last rude gesture as he drowns.

I think girl + pony had enough support, but we got sidetracked by something else. I'm gonna push for a final sweep for a strong consensus. (And "static" isn't in the URL of the picture I uploaded. It starts with tvtropes. This seems like a bug report issue. Anyone know what's going on?)
