It could be bigger, at the very least...not exactly clear that it's a bad future, either.
I have this image as a desktop background. Still more "bad" than "future", though.
Somewhat related is this one.

Check out my fanfiction!Without proper context the current image, and many of the suggestions, looks no different from Scenery Gorn or Crapsack World.
Maybe a picture depicting the past and future? [1]◊

Most people are aware of the context of Wall E, After Earth, Oblivion: maybe something from one of those?
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Ooh, and 4 is good.
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!A bigger/taller version of 4: [1]◊
Looks better. I think we should still crop off some of the bottom though. The black space doesn't really add anything, and I dislike overly tall images.
Fair. Here's a test candidate:
Interesting...I like that.
So-so. Still acceptable though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanA little too character-focused for my liking, but yeah, it kind of works.
Check out my fanfiction!Yeah, it is kinda-sorta like "Old Magneto is the Bad Future", but better than anything else so far, for sure.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. It could work if we specify that the left side shows the present and the right side the future.
I'm not sure how people are unclear that the right side is the future. How else does he get old, is he Dorian Gray or something?
I think he means point out the landscape as opposed to the guy.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Better.
Check out my fanfiction! That's the reason why the guy is there - to show the timeline of background. The fact that he is older in the right pic should make it clear enough that the scene behind him comes much later than the one on the left.
18 is a big improvement.
Matter of caption emphasis only. Cityscape requires no context to see it's a Bad Future, whereas you have to know the character to know Magneto specifically is more villainous in the future.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Huh, I didn't notice that magneto was older in the right half.
And I didn't notice that he was younger on the left side. Many of these Some more suggestions. Keep in mind that many will probably overlap with After the End:
Not from any work: [1]◊[2]◊[3]◊[4]◊
Terminator: [5]◊[6]◊[7]◊
Beyond: Two Souls has one: [8]◊
Equilibrium: [9]◊

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Well, After the End, Crapsack World, Scenery Gorn, and The End of the World as We Know It has already use somewhat similar images, so I'd rather not have this one get another overlap. The third Terminator pic might work due to the date showing the future, but it's too dark to see the "bad" aspect (it looks like a midnight traffic jam unless I squint).
It looks like Bad Future has a Worse Image. All that I can see is a mess of shades of gray, with a car and a few scattered flames.
