Zelda's sword looks like a regular broadsword or hand-and-a-half sword.
Nice. I like 2 and 4 best. The others are look rather blurry.
I'm not feeling it. Mitsuru dominates the image too much. I'm too distracted looking at her rather than her rapier.
I'm with the Adept Rogue on this one, and I have three reasons why:
- The rapier is more emphatically shown and proportioned more equally to Zorro himself.
- The black and silver contrast helps to focus our attention on the subject matter.
- The rapier itself is clearly ornate, and the gleam near the hilt gives it that extra visual kick without looking too gaudy.
Yeah, not really crazy about that, although it's decent for Image Links.
The problem with 3.2 and 3.4 is that it's already being used in Master Swordsman, so we'll have to replace that if we're to use it for Royal Rapier instead.
Here's a better one of Zelda. [1]◊
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I think that's for the better. The Zorro pic focuses on the weapon and fits Royal Rapier better, while the Master Swordsman trope is about the user, so it might be better to use an action scene for the latter.
I like 9, mostly because I don't associate Zorro very much with this trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman9 wins for me as well
Yeah, best so far. What would make it better is more focus on the sword.
Check out my fanfiction!Zelda is not using a rapier...that's the whole point of the trope. She isn't even listed as an example on the page.

Another candidate of Raphael◊ from Soulcalibur.
Alternatively, Russel Crowe's Javert◊ from Les Miserables.

Found some images that look pretty royal-looking, so I'm putting it here.
Random anime princess with rapier White-haired guy with rapier◊
I've known about it since the beginning. But I just refused to believe it.The second one looks good.
Not sure what I'd classify Zelda's sword as. It's got the hilt of a long sword, but the blade looks like a rapier blade (especially compared to Link's swords). Maybe a bit short (for either a long sword or rapier).

Maybe something from this page of Girl Genius?
http://www.mansionofe.comAccording to the other wiki:
Zelda's sword hilt may not be full of curves and rings that many rapiers are traditionally designed with, but I've seen hilts like that for any characters in video games who use Rapiers. Especially in the Soul Series like Raphael.

On Zelda: Considering how this will be the main image for this, I'd prefer a sword that actually looks like a rapier as the media commonly depicts them, rather than an example that may or may not be one. Doing the latter usually leads to misuse as tropers love to push the boundaries of what counts as an example of a trope, and if the illustration is already on the borderline...

Bingo; no need for ambiguity if it's unnecessary.
EDIT: I like 15.2, both in 16, and 18. The swords in the GG pic look to be foils or epees, not rapiers.

I dig the Javert one.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."I don't really like the Javert one, since the sword is out of focus, and I think being able to see the blade is a plus.
