Standard Disco Equipment, while it does have relevance to the genre, is nothing more than a list of expected things to see in a disco scene. I think this information can be safely merged into the Disco article and this page be cut. Thoughts?

EDIT: 15 wicks, 17 inbounds, for the record.

I can see a merge, yeah.

Merge it, yes.

I think there's a pretty good case to be made that the trappings of disco (including the disco ball, flashing dance floor, "Staying Alive" Dance Pose, and pretty much everything on the Saturday Night Fever poster, really) are a trope of their own that's separate from the genre of music, but this page is pretty stubby.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Merge or get rid of completely.

Re-clocked; anyone else for/against a merge?

Is there any reason there are no examples? I think there is definitely a trope here, but it looks like no one really tried.

IDK, maybe merge it with the disco page for now and if someone wants to actually put together a coherent trope later on they can YKTTW it up properly.

[up]Because, as it is, this page is a useful notes with no real relevance to storytelling. It's basically just a list of things you expect to see in a Disco.

Looking at the list, there seems to be a generation crash between things you'd expect to see in a proper disco scene and a modern dance hall.

Well I think it read more like a trope rather then a useful note; it lists the common items seen in discos scenes in media, not the common items at discos in real life (although naturally there is overlap).

[up]That's still just "a list of stuffs". Not a trope, IMO.

Alright, I've moved most of the information from Standard Disco Equipment to Disco. How's it look?

The Staying Alive dance should be added. In almost every disco scene I've seen since then, someone does it.

[up] Done. Should it be potholed to The Bee Gees or Saturday Night Fever, or just left as is?

Don't think it needs a pothole, but it seems the former would be the appropriate one if.

It should be potholed to "Staying Alive" Dance Pose.

[up] Done. I've also started an IP thread for Disco.

Is there anything else to do here?

I put a note in Disco Discussion. Everything else is done.

Sounds good. The page is redirected to Disco to preserve the inbounds; locking up.

Seems like the locking was forgotten; requesting that now.
