Our page would be March of War. Main page can be found here. Wiki is here.

Stumbled onto this on Steam. It's a Free-to-Play Diesel Punk Turn-Based Strategy Massively Multi Player game. The world has divided into six factions:

African Warlords (Africa)
European Alliance (Europe & Australia)
Latin Junta (South America)
Shogun Empire (East Asia)
Soviet Union
United Republic (North America)

I believe it's player driven conquest of a single world map, with territories to fight over.

Other than that, I don't know much else about it. There isn't a lot of information available.

I'm actually damn annoyed with it right now. Your faction choice is permanent along with your single character slot. So you're stuck with whatever you start out with, though I imagine you can pay cash to change it. I also can't get a name I like for my only character, because nobody can program a database to allow for non-unique names.

It sounds interesting. I'm too annoyed over what shouldn't be important, because you're committed from before you even see the tutorial. I'll probably gamble on liking what I choose and actually play it tomorrow.

There's an infantry unit that's Canadian Mounties.

This kinda sounds like the best game ever to me from hearing that

That sounds like fun.

I made it past the character creation screen. Not a single bit of advice or help from the game so far. You know, the problem I have with "faction loyalty" is that people on the internet are already the biggest assholes possible, giving them valid, legitimate reasons for hostility is just throwing fuel on the fire.

The game is very simple to play, don't know what other rules exist in the background or how much strategy may be involved.

Any advice on which faction I should play or arbitrary propaganda to convince me? Currently I'm thinking about going Junta and fighting with or against Che.

The Soviet Union is always the correct choice. Our propaganda is always correct, because we Orwellian Retcon it to always have been correct.

Welcome to the nebulous, constant-present!

It has promise.

Definitely has the TT Strategy/tactic game feel.

It's a fun little game. Seems a bit too simple at the moment though. Plus, it's looking like the typical freeium grind. I'll mess with it more.

Well, the EA is curbstomping the USSR right now. That's one of the things I'm afraid of, the EA having more players and always winning. The players say there's a lot of politics going on in the background.

Well, you want EA then. I join the Soviets so now they're being utterly destroyed. The situation is so bad we're invading the United Republic in desperation while they're distracted by the Shogun Empire.

Joined the EA for giggles. I like their look already.

Lost first battle to the Ruskies beginner AI. I got swamped by conscripts. My next round went better as I more smartly deployed troops and vehicles. Flooded the area with low end grunts to hold points and soak fire from the conscripts. Captured troop and vehicle points first worked quite well actually.

You really need something that can do area damage to vend of soviet troop hordes.

Wow...I am right now watching a political catfight in global chat. The Glorious Comrade Lalalla, under whose leadership we have experienced naught but victory, has called out the cowardly leader of the UR as a backstabbing traitor and the head of the LJ for being nothing but a puppet of the EA. The arguments fly back and forth, bitching about lies and opinions, pointing fingers at past leadership, throwing accusations around.

While all remaining pretty civil. Not friendly or decently written, but not the racist / homophobic slurs and petty insults you see everywhere else online.

Just wow.

Is the EA still gobbling up damn near the entire map?

This game needs a lot more units and unit variety for all sides. You also need some more actions and mechanics for the fighting. Like cover and concealment type options.

It is rather barebones but overall not too bad.

Mother Russia is being taken back.

It depends on how much you play. The SU early game is supposed to be particularly bad. Once you get a few units and some abilities, things get more interesting. Otherwise, yeah, starting the game for free can be pretty boring, with very few units and abilities to play with.

Even looking at the tech tree it is kinda sparse. Smart tactics are limited by a lack of options like using cover and concealment. Buildings need more use then just obstacles.

Good I was a little worried things would get boring too fast with the Russians getting stomped out. The last time I saw the map they were bottled up in North America with just two territories.

I heard that a faction couldn't be wiped out. I'm not sure what a state of "rebellion" is though.

I'm really wondering why we got utterly curbstomped and then started making a comeback. I expected the EA to just start stomping everyone else. One thing that disappoints me about this implementation is that it doesn't really matter as a whole. There are incentives for conquering or defending regions but they're fairly small bonuses. There's no weight to the conflict.

Maybe they're trying to invoke that Nineteen Eighty Four vibe and the war is eternal and meaningless. The thing is, those empires were also invincible and didn't need to conquer anything. They fought over the sad peasant slaves in continent-sized no-man's land. The borders of that warzone were in constant flux but the war would never lead to a real victory or defeat. Here, the SU was routed so badly that we lost Russia and fled to the tough, "poor" northern lands of the US and Canada. Then poof, we're back and retaking the Motherland.

Oceania was so vast and powerful that it didn't matter if it lost ground in Africa or gained it in central Asia. Oceania was invincible and the war all the more pointless. The SU lost nothing of real importance when we lost our nation.

That is good. I like fighting the Russians more. The AI and players are scarier. Well scarier then the African nations. Does the EA still have their Africa foothold or did they get bitch slapped out of it?

Maybe if a faction could get knocked out of the fight for control of the world. Have a sort of reset when any faction eventually wins with awards for factions and conflict participants.

I have gotten far enough into the tech tree to unlock and buy some Brit Troops. I love those guys. But I need to hit up the other side of the tree so I can get some real armor on the field.

I don't know, I ignore what's going on in Africa. [lol]

Anyway, I don't actually know. We've been busy with fighting in Russia and Canada. I don't know what's up with half the factions in the game because we're not directly fighting them.

I think the EA may have over stretched themselves a bit and tried taking on too many opponents to maintain the hold on Russia and keep the SU bottled up. We were fighting the US and Africa as well as the SU all at once.

Only faction I knew you weren't fighting was the LJ, because they're supposedly your puppet state. cool

The game desperately needs better documentation. For example, faction select claims that the SU has propaganda as a strength. There are only two obvious propaganda units, the comrade and the People's truck. The undocumented feature is that most SU infantry randomly activate an area effect morale buff when attacking. So my People's truck blasts propaganda at my men to buff then, then "For the Motherland!" suddenly activates and turbo-charges my troops.

The EA seems to have some kind of damage nullification on the tanks. "Alliance armor" procs every once in a while and ruins my attacks.

I would really like to try the other factions but they want cash for currency to buy a character slot. Pretty stupid for an early release/beta.

I am hoping the game picks up some more unit types for everyone as well as some more tactical density. It is a good start but the game needs more to fully flesh it out.
