"Only Sane Man, but in the workplace." (From PlayingWith.Only Sane Employee) It even admits to being The Same But More Specific of Only Sane Man. This can merge.

I feel that, given the second part of the description, that it's a subtrope.

This is NOT "Only Sane Man but in the workplace." It gets misused as that, but it's not it. It's more closely related to Nerd Nanny. Basically, in a team of Bunny Ears Lawyers, the Only Sane Man is forced to corral everyone and keep everything working smoothly.

Then maybe we need to play with the description a bit or something.

Oh really when?

The description is only two lines. I really can't think of a way to make it more clear.

How about a third line comparing and contrasting it to Only Sane Man and Nerd Nanny? Something that lays out how it's different and not to be confused.

References are a good idea. Added.

I don't see a real problem here, though. Even if it were The Same But More Specific (and it definitely isn't), that's only a strike against a YKTTW draft; we're not going to scrap a pre-existing wiki page on such flimsy grounds. And for the record, it does not admit as such in the description.

I move to lock the thread.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Yeah, don't see a huge problem either. Not more than your average page.

I would look at what the examples are used for before closing this. Won't have time immediately, though.

OK, most examples look fine. I took out a few questionable entries.

And I changed the definition on the Playing With Page to something more informative.

In general, it's not a good idea to use the trope definition on the subpages (Playing with, Laconic,...) to make your case that the trope is badly defined or The Same But More/Less/On Tuesday, because those are often a massively oversimplified definition. We're working on getting the Laconics in better shape, but there's still along way to go on them.

The changes look good. Though the quotes should probably be cleaned up.

Didn't this used to be called The Liz Lemon? I think that the trope name doesn't do a very good job of getting what the trope is really about across.

I'd have thought of The Cat Herder but it's probably too estoeric so Employee Parent is more likely.

[up]That would probably get misused for employees who are literally parents.

We don't have enough consensus right now.

Would a crowner be necessary?

Yes. A rename wasn't really discussed at length and someone even proposed to close this already.

Well, since I don't think the discussion would go anywhere at this point, here.

Why exactly would we rename it? What would that solve? I see healthy wicks and inbounds and no obvious problem attributable to the title.

No real reason to rename has been offered. The original objection was based a poor Laconic, not the actual page definition.

Crowners are not used in place of discussion. Crowners are used to determine whether there is consensus or not, following discussion.

Locking the crowner; clocking the thread pending a legitimate objection to the trope or a strong reason to consider renaming.

Has anyone done a wick check to see if this gets misused as "The Only Sane Man, but in an office"?

Because as is, without looking at misuse, it is a bad snowclone.

If you want to continue the discussion, do the wick check. Don't expect someone else to do it for you.
