Suggestion: Half Identical Twins

I like 25.2, but it's an ambiguous example. They could be Half-Identical Twins, they can also be the same gender. It isn't possible to see this in the image but it might still be better to use a straighter example.

Then the same could probably be argued about the current image, since it's not entirely clear whether they are Half-Identical Twins or Opposite Sex Clones.

The only bad thing about the current is that more people are familiar with canon Rin/Len (and how they might not even be twins) as opposed to the characters they play in Story of Evil.

I think the Interesting Twins are better than the current. Would have my vote if not for comparatively shoddy quality.

Tree Lo, can you clarify why you feel Phil & Lil are "way cluttered"? Are you saying the image will lose detail when uploaded? Are you saying there's too much detail on their clothes? Or the fact that there's four of them?

The last one, it's a bit redundant having them as teens and as kids in the same image for our purposes.

Amen. Honestly, most anime faces look alike to me and I know I'm not the only person who feels the same way.

For Phil and Lil, I tried looking for a cast picture in which they're the focal point, since it will show that the show averts the whole Only Six Faces thing, but I'm not having any luck. Perhaps we could crop most of this◊ image and just leave the twins and their parents.

You and others might feel that way but that's just it, it's entirely subjective reasoning which isn't a good reason to reject an image.

I disagree. I think it's pretty objective whether or not an artist uses the same noses, eyes, face shapes, etc for their characters. What's subjective is our ability to differentiate in spite of these similarities.

I'm sorry, but this reeks of Fan Myopia. Since many non-anime fans think that these characters all look alike, isn't your reasoning also subjective?

Speaking as a non-anime fan, when I look at character sheets for anime/manga pages I see a lot more than 6 similar faces. Never mind that ignoring the non-facial differences seems suspect to me.

I'm not an anime fan, I don't dislike it like some but I don't think the opposite of Fan Myopia should apply here like has been said.

Tree Lo: What about two images, one of baby Phil&Lil, and one of "tween" Phil&Lil? Would that cut down enough on the "busy" that it would work? I like having both because showing the aging emphasizes the similarities/differences in a way the other images don't.

I'm voting for the current picture, and the suggestion of Twincest is exaggerated at best. Holding hands does not incest make.

Real Life examples are darn near biologically impossible, so that would make a bad source.

Just Treelo, no intercaps. Um, it would yeah as long as that's flagged clearly with a label or something. Just that one, it's not a good image if you have no clue who the characters are.

Current is still best.

As for those Only Six Faces arguments, that kind of matters less when you only have two characters anyway. That they still have the same eyes and hair, both colour and style, speaks more to me than facial shape. Facial shape you have to compare with others to know if it differs or not, since that is dependent on style, but I wouldn't think most people would have to have any comparison to know that eyes and hair are usually not that similar.

I am not a big fan of anime, but the idea that all works in that style might suffer from Only Six Faces is pretty insulting.

I feel that the Desna/Eska pics and the Phil/Lil pics are lateral moves, the rest inferior. I think this thread is going nowhere and is just descending into Complaining.
