Just a Face and a Caption: Rabid Cop

I really don't see a cop in this picture, nor do I see rabid. It just looks like some sleazeball. And I'd argue against the "Better this than nothing" comment in the source. The image really isn't all that helpful. The picture of Lt. Carter Blake◊ from Heavy Rain in ImageLinks.Rabid Cop isn't the best image ever, but it's far superior.

While I agree that the drawing of Sipowicz is JAFAAC, I don't think the suggestion is any better at all, much less "far superior".

There's still nothing to indicate that he's a cop, let alone that he has "a reckless disregard for civil rights, and an unwavering conviction that any person they've identified as "the perp" really is a perp (regardless of any contradicting evidence) and deserves to suffer". It's simply JAFAAC that relies on familiarity with a different work.

Making a lateral move from <poor image> to <other equally poor image> is pointless.

Suggested image is better, in my opinion. Current doesn't indicate anything to do with police work at all; at least the other is taking place in an interrogation room.

... don't get me wrong, it's still awful, but technically an improvement.

The OP suggestion is too lateral a move, neither work so agreed with Mads on this. 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 only seem to show one half of the trope like you say and 3.4 is okay but too outlandish by far.

3.3 is about the best of the suggestions, and Barricade isn't an example at all and needs to be taken off the page.

None of these images looks like the trope to me.

7.1 and 7.2 look better for me. 7.3 looks less like a cop and more like a barbarian.

7.2 is good. I like that it shows the other cop intervening. That's more in line with the trope than simply a cop being threatening. The Rabid Cop is considered out of line even to other cops.

7.3 looks like Haggar in a police outfit.

Is that good or bad?

I'm a bit undecided, though. Not really sold on any, but there are a few that could work. 7.3 is still wearing a cop uniform, so him "looking like a barbarian" only highlights the trope for me.

7.2 seems to illustrate the trope best to me. I'd never seen the trope and saw the picture first actually; from the picture I could tell what it was all about, and guessed right. Just my two cents! Peace.
