He actually looks angry. Professional, but still too angry.
I mean, it's a great, great, great example, but he looks too mad.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them."Instead, expect The Hero (or Anti-Hero)'s face to be serenely, eerily calm."
Makes me inclined to vote Keep Until Better Image Suggested. "Fury" doesn't depend upon facial expressions here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanMaybe Ippo? He could, theoretically be talking about anything, but his face just really illustrates Tranquil Fury for me. Nothing about his face seems mad but I feel like he's still angry.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFair enough, but I think for the purposes of this trope that at least a little bit of anger should be visible. Otherwise, where's the fury? The pic may as well be representing Dissonant Serenity.
Something like this◊, I'm thinking. More calm than the first one I posted, but you can still tell he's angry.
I'm also going through my Fullmetal Alchemist later. There's this one scene with Bradley in it that is perfect, but I can't remember where it is, so it'll probably take some looking.

This is really tricky. The current is a little too tranquil, but the Preston pics are a little too angry.
Dissonant Serenity is about something that looks calm and gentle. The current doesn't.
Check out my fanfiction!Someone that looks calm and gentle "as they slit throats left and right." The difference between this trope and that one is that Dissonant Serenity implies actual internal serenity and peace of mind, while this one seems to sort of be Dissonant Serenity with Informed Anger (we're told they're angry, but they're also supposed to look completely at peace... huh... not quite sure how we're supposed to know they're angry, then); they look all the world like they're dissonantly serene, but they're angry underneath that. I'll admit that the pics I've uploaded thus far are a bit too much on the angry side, but there needs to be at least some anger in the pic to make it fitting for this trope.
The second paragraph of Dissonant Serenity describes him as having a gentle smile in the middle of horror so the current for this wouldn't be ideal for showing it. I like the face of 6 but I think kicking someone in the face shows anger better than holding a gun.
I'd actually have to disagree with you about the kicking/holding a gun thing. This trope is all about the controlled, precise, and thorough application of fury hidden behind a tranquil mask. It even links to There Is No Kill Like Overkill. Using a gun (ie. a controlled, lethal weapon) seems to fit this trope much better than kicking (ie. uncontrolled, nonlethal).
Furthermore, the last line of the definition allows for the use of Death Glares, Creepy Monotones (definitely not serene by the trope's very definition), and even Slasher Smiles, so there should be no reason to throw out even the first, obviously enraged Preston image I suggested. Although I'm starting to think the trope definition could use some cleaning up (it seems to be contradicting itself a bit), but that's something for the trs to decide.

My I dare suggest the last two panels of this strip from GastroPhobia as a valid replacement...
Dude! Buddy! Yes!
That one's perfect. Obvious anger on a serene face, and the dialogue helps. We may have problems with permissions— I don't actually know the details for things like that— but that's perfect. Maybe even throw on the first panel of the next page, cause that one makes it even better. Maybe stack the panels like the current page image is stacked.

I think creepy is a better word for how she looks, rather than calm. Doesn't work for me.
Check out my fanfiction!Actually being calm is the domain of Dissonant Serenity. The description for Tranquil Fury seems to imply that there's just a very thin veneer of calm masking and desperately trying to control a seething rage. Which is what we see here: calm smile —> dead eyes as she issues the threat —> calm smile while choking the object of her anger. And maybe it's just me, but as I read that last panel, I got the feeling that she was using a healthy dose of Creepy Monotone, which is included in the trope description.
If we don't let even the hint of anger show through, who's to say that they're even angry and not just at peace in dangerous situations where they need to kill.
Edit: I just read the webcomic we got the current image from (it's good, by the way. I'd advise reading it), and I figure we could do something like take the fifth panel from here (the close-up of her face and eyes) followed by the shot of her kicking him if we really want to keep the ridiculous calm in mind when we choose the pic. It's not what I would choose, but that's calm and it at least looks angry instead of melancholy. With the other one, the only clue we had was that she was kicking someone.

Huh?
That's good. I personally still prefer the one from Gastro Phobia, but I think this would appease everybody.
The extra panel helps a lot.
Rhymes with "Protracted."16
And just incidentally, that's a girl doing the tranquility and the fury.

Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMIt's an improvement for me as well.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat added bit on the top left really adds the fury part, and it makes the image look much nicer.

Maybe it's just me, but the current image◊ does not fit the trope. The last image picking thread (here) for this trope got rid of the previous image because it just showed a guy who was quietly pissed, but not actually doing anything with it, and they decided to replace it with one that showed a little more of the violence of the trope. I can understand that, but what I can't understand is why they chose the current image to replace it. The guy in the pic is definitely tranquil, but he doesn't look at all angry. In fact, if anything he looks like a slightly melancholic guy kicking ass for whatever reason. We've juggled the problem: instead of calm and anger with no violence, we now have calm and violence, but no anger.
Here's my suggestion◊. Yes, it doesn't show him actually killing anyone, but he's obviously enraged but keeping a lid on it, pointing a gun, and his body language is extremely aggressive and makes it clear that he's about to open fire, or at least really, really wants to.
