This suggestion was made by Kage Nara on the discussion page, and I agree.

I'm an anime fan and I really feel this image doesn't translate well to how most of the readers are going to see this person when they hear the trope's name.

I find this image to be better suiting. These are the Andrew Sisters. Actual Wartime singers for the American War Bond drive and listed on this page's Real Life section.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I feel that the suggestion is somewhat lacking in the "singer" department.

[up] Agreed. Now, a pic of such a troupe actually singing, that would be good.

I think the OP is better than the current. If we find nothing else, it would get Keep Until Better Image Suggested from me. The current is one shade better than complete Just A Face And A Caption. It has a pull from me.

Weak Keep Until Better Image Suggested. It shows the "glamorous," the "wartime," and the "singer," but personally I'd like it gone.

Some suggestions for the Andrews Sisters: 1 2 3 4 5

Also, the wartime tribute group (so not strictly an example) Scarlet Scarlets.

[up]The first two of those are better than the original suggestion. The Scarlet Sisters are excellent.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

It's tough to get "glamour" out of any of these suggestions, especially 5.1 given it covers the singing and wartime part well but indicates nothing passing for glamorous, even by wartime standards. 5.5 seems as close as we'll get to me.

[up] Agreed. The glamour part should be prominent.

Nothing there says "Wartime".

Marilyn Monroe? Granted, the "wartime" part is a bit hard to make out.

One of the Three Belles?

Edna from 9 Chickweed Lane?

[up][up][up] You mean aside from the period dress and antiquated microphone?

[up] I quite like it (16), but it somewhat lacks the glamour.

10.1 is a very nice picture, but it looks like a generic Chanteuse.

So far, I've liked best 12.2.

The crowner will be probably inevitable.

Another

My personal favorite. I love that the guys are pretty much agape at her. A little light on "wartime," but I think it's pretty clear those are troops not in combat gear.

Are there any pics of Edna from 9 Chickweed Lane actually singing? Right now for me, we've got a lot of good fodder for an Image Links page but none that get the balance just right for the actual page pic. I'm going to do some looking later tonight.

The Chanteuse could use a better-quality pic but that's another thread.

Dammit...this is irritating. I'm not finding anything that 100% works.

Maybe not quite as glamorous... But how about this picture?

(From the M*A*S*H season one finale.)

Certainly more glamorous then Klinger walking around. (Although I suppose YMMV on that...)

I think the problem we may be running into is that the singers who are obviously in wartime (that is, performing out somewhere that clearly is a military setting, and not in a safe club somewhere) didn't tend to wear the long evening gowns that "glamorous" implies. So we're getting "obviously wartime" images and "glamorous singer" images, but none that have all of the elements everyone wants. Personally, I'd rather see pretty singers in an obviously wartime setting even if that means not-so-glamorous outfits.

The current is the best so far. Nothing with the woman in uniform works. That doesn't look glamorous.

[up] Except that it's really light on the "wartime" aspect...I'd rather have something that makes that more clear.
