X-23 is almost certainly tied up in the X-Men rights.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It's probably been mentioned, but do we have an idea of when these will be released? I heard 2015, but I was hoping for next year.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Considering that AFAIK only one showrunner has been named and casting hasn't even started I would say '15 is much more likely
Trump delenda estYeah, it's probably gonna be while. I imagine they'll be part of phase 3.
On the subject of Iron Fist's ethnicity mentioned a little while ago, I feel a bit conflicted. On one hand, I would be fine if he was Asian, and that could work, but on the other hand I kind of feel like being white shaped his character, though that may also be due to the context of his creation at the time. Danny Rand is white, but he grew up in very traditional Asian culture for half of his life, so early on he had the mannerisms of a typical (you could say stereotypical) Asian kung fu guy, as opposed to just a white guy who knew kung fu. And it was kind of ironic in the context of the mid 70s. These days Danny doesn't act that way of course. And I'd honestly find it a little uncomfortable if it was an Asian guy acting like a stereotypical Asian guy within the context of the setting. And Danny wouldn't even act that way because he was a weaboo or anything, it would just be how he was raised. I think his portrayal in the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon is a decent take on this, though it is exaggerated.
This also affected his relationship with Luke; Danny didn't act like a white guy, which could really catch Luke off guard, and Luke sort of had to educate Danny of the culture of modern day America that Danny had missed out on. I just sort of feel like if Danny was Asian, his interactions with Luke wouldn't feel quite the same. It just wouldn't be the Salt and Pepper I like. Danny being white adds just a little bit of conflict to the character, even if it's not a big deal. It would also be somewhat interesting if his race wasn't an issue in K'un L'un, but then Danny does experience prejudice for the first time when he comes back to America and finds that being a white guy who acts like an Asian does not let him fit in well. It's just a bit of irony, but I think it goes a long way.
Iron Fist actually avoids a lot of the Mighty Whitey setups and cliches or subverts them. It's not the Asian culture that he discovers and slowly learns about, it's American culture, and his love interest isn't from the culture he learned kung fu in or even Asian, she's Black and American (well, in the mainstream universe anyway). The people who do introduce him to American culture are Black and Asian, not other white people.
Danny didn't get good at kung fu just because he got adopted, he wanted revenge, so he had some motivation. Also, Danny was like 9 when he arrived in K'un L'un; I think Mighty Whitey only really applies when the whitey is already an adult and learns things extremely quickly. It's not like Dances with Wolves or Avatar, and it's not like he's a dumb white kid being "enlightned" by some ancient culture's knowledge. He's not a guy who came and instantly got better at kung fu than all the other Asians and then can still fit in with white people, he had to put in the same time and effort to learn kung fu as those around him for ten long years, and because of that he has very little knowledge or experience with other cultures. And on top of it, while he does basically become K'un-L'un's champion, it was only a side effect of him wanting enough strength to take revenge, so it's kind of a subversion The Chosen One. Really, I think his predecessor Orson Randall is much closer to being a typical Mighty Whitey than Danny.

Thunder, Thunder, Thunder...Kevin Feige confirms Jeph Loeb involved with Marvel series on Netflix
There goes the hype I've had for this.
Wasn't he supposed to be head of animation? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Edit: Oh wait, he's apparently been the Head of Television in charge of drama, comedy and animation since 2010. He was probably always going to be involved in some capacity.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, Jeph Loeb has never done anything good.
Except he has.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.Recently? Because the general opinion of his recent stuff I've seen is...not good.
His brief stint on Nova was actually pretty good. I'm a little disappointed he never ended up returning to it; I was under the impression he was going to do a few more issues, but I guess not.
So Loeb's involvement with the Netflix shows isn't that bad a sign, the way it was a couple years ago.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Still, it's Loeb.
My AO3OTOH, the cartoons he's been involved with have not gone over so well. It probably depends on how much influence he has in live action.
Home of CBR Rumbles-in-Exile: rumbles.fr.yuku.comHe might also view cartoons as being just for kids and thus obiously, can't have long arc and darker aspects, cos, you know, kids would explode if they had that.
He might be fine with live-action.
There's something wrong with exploding children? Huh. Guess I'll have to rewrite my manifesto.
Trump delenda estEntirely the clean-up.
Loeb without the child filter is still dumb and brainless. Instead of randomness and terrible humor, it will be full of pointless sex and and over the top violence, all at the expense of an actual plot.
Involvement does not necessarily mean complete control. He's involved in Agents of SHIELD, yet you don't see people complaining about what he's doing there (not that people aren't complaining, just not about Loeb).
According to the SHIELD writers, Loeb's involvement begins and ends at giving them notes and feedback on story ideas. So it's not as though Loeb is gonna be writing the Netflix shows.
With Sif appearing in next week's episode of Agent of SHIELD, I can't help but think a Warriors Three tv-show is an idea that cannot fail.
Think about it. All three of the warriors' actors are affordable for a tv-series (and possibly Sif's actress too), they are great characters with potential for adventures and they can do a lot with them.
My plot pitch would be the Warriors Three (and maybe Sif) being sent (or perhaps banished) to Midgard, and now they have to learn to live amongst humans. Concurrent to this, all manner of minor Asgardian criminals escape to (or are banished to) Midgard, and the Three have to find, capture or kill each and every one of them before more havoc is wreaked.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."That'll never mesh with the Thor movies. Thor, as protector of Midgard, would never allow this world to be used as a penal colony. A Warriors Three series could happen (though it may lack in mainstream appeal to be an attractive option for the studios) but that premiss seems pretty much impossible to me.
Thing is, Loki is now King of Asgard, him doing something like I described fits entirely within his personality, and he can just cover it up with his trickery.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Not quite. Loki is masquerading as Odin, King of Asgard. He can't just start doing whatever he fancies, because a key part of keeping a cover intact is remaining in-cover. If Odin starts making a bunch of horrifically Out-Of-Character decisions, it will cast suspicion on him.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.One thing I see/expect (because I think Loki made a semi-Heel–Face Turn) is him doing things that further his plans but in a way that ties into his being a "kinder gentler Loki".
Like just like in the film how he got Thor to leave while also making him feel good by praising him in the guise of Odin, I can imagine Sif and the other Warriors talking about how much nicer Odin is and his trusting their skills, while at the same time, it is clear to the audience that Loki is sending them on snipe hunts so they don't catch on to his impersonation.
Edit, edit, edit, edit the wikiSee the latter part of my phrase. God of trickery, after all. He can just do a cover up. For banishing the Warriors Three he could claim he's sending them on missions across the nine realms and then banishing them to Midgard, for example.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
One interesting option might be The Punisher.
I'd be up for that. The idea you've put out sounds like a genuinely interesting one, and it would help mask some of the dark and violent nature the comics are known for.
Though I personally would have gone with a different work to the ones proposed. Have a look at my avatar.
