[up]I dunno. The difference between a shut-in and a normal otaku is...leaving the room once or twice a day. I wouldn't call that conclusive. But I would say he was probably out of it by that time or he wouldn't have gone to the interview.

Episode 9. Which is a Beach Episode.

If they were really smart, they'd have deducted vacation days from his earlier trip.

"This is your chance to be your true self!" Coming from her, it probably doesn't mean what she thinks it means.

I liked the little exchange about the book. Subtle.

"At long last, the beach episode." Well, that's certainly in-character and not at all meta. I'm not actually sarcastic, by the way.

"Oh, it's you. And I totally looked at your face." Doesn't take a genius to understand him.

I think selecting a swimsuit for someone who looks like a kid by looking at adult models in revealing swimsuits is kind of missing the point. Unless they just like look at adult models in revealing swimsuits, in which case I can understand them.

Freedom! is a good manga of choice for the beach. Does the cover of that have more or less homoerotic subtext than the original?

How to get someone to have fun in the water:
Step 1: Pick her up and throw her into the water.
Step 2: Profit.

If "you first" is a line that exists in water fights, you're doing it wrong.

Dat look on the "wise" man... But their whole discussion was so predictable it was almost actually funny.

"You've got some good ones growing there." Not sure that's the best line in that situation...

I kinda wonder how they got those angles on the shots. Shooting from far away gives you a straight angle.

Yeah, two words of explanation were needed. "Massive boobs."

"Leave it to me!" ... "It was all their fault! Oh, wait, you like it? My idea!"

It was a swimsuit episode, all right. Actually the weakest episode so far imo, and I usually like beach episodes fine. Still enjoyable though.

[up]I liked that last part you brought up. And the Free! cameo. Also the Romilda and Roic appearance was a nice touch. Those JSDF guys though...so unprofessional...GEEZ.

The wise men were completely professional, however. One hundred percent.

I liked the scenes of Elbia playing around, she was the cutest this episode.

Also Minori subtly attempts to join the harem with her unsubtle bosom. But the harem is composed of Myuciel, Petrarca, Elbia and Galius! Minori does not belong in there!

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

[up] Pretty sure Minori was just trolling. And being lazy.

Yeah, I was surprised to he didn't lose vacation days for the previous trip. Maybe bc he was technically supposed to get supplies, even if he forgot.

I thought the whole, "You need to spend your vacation days," thing was directed at Minori, not Shinichi. He just tagged along.

Romilda/Roic OTP.

Tenth episode!

Matoba's walking in on awkward situations kind of loses impact since he always has his eyes closed.

That looks painful...Minori doesn't seem like the type to physically strike a guy for being an Accidental Pervert. Of course it really wasn't accidental at all.

Who will they name as the actors for this movie though? They are people who don't exist on Earth. It would look pretty weird not to be able to name any actors, or not to be able to find them on google. Still, Mahou Shoujo Petrarca is amazing. Also Depraved Homosexual Galius?

Minori, are you...doing this on purpose? You got to listen. Dragons are tamed by screaming like Tarzan, but not always.

Wow, they are spending a lot of money on this.

Naked people are funny! Most boobies of all episodes! So many boobies!

Oh gosh dang it JSDF guy, can you not deal with a little B.O.?

Hope the dragon is okay.

Magical Madoppu is so doji! Tee hee!

Roic and Romilda are master clappers.

Aha! So the rip-off was intentional! Brilliant!

Episode 10. In which things don't quite go according to the script.

Tight clothes may be painful. Not necessarily to the wearer.

"We have a problem."
"You don't say."
Gotta love that deadpan. Also very tolerant of her, and very ignorant of him. But hey, where'd he get that red mark from? Must be unrelated.

"I've got an, in my opinion, great idea!" You know, qualifying it like that doesn't help.

I like how Miu's ears get red when she blushes. Makes it visible from behind.

A happy girl with big boobs singing "Gatcha". Hmm.

They took the dragon blast rather well. I mean, they're still alive.

"Does anyone here have common sense?" I think he means modesty. Also, Scenery Censors are much better than alterntives.

Kinda funny how they're doing the scenes twice. Once properly, and once pretending they're doing them properly.

I must say, Petra works well as a Magical Girl.

"It's not a copy. It's homage." Right.

With what they're saying about the animatronic dragon, the real one is going to show up. I just know it. Then he mentioned her armpits, and Luna showed up again...

The JSDF got to be badass. Very good.

Petra's reaction was... predictable. But funny.

Ok, question: Anybody know roughly how far ahead the story is in the L Ns? Like, very far past the end of what we can expect from this season? Or, like, did it end? I got no access, really, so I dunno...

Ah, ok. Was curious about that, as I got some minor speculations of how I figure it's gonna end if there was no more story...or something like that. Not sure that came out right, but yeah. Hopefully nowhere near as bad as what I came up with. Love the series. Don't wanna see my idea come to light...

Episode 11. In which the ugly side of the culture shows its head. Or perhaps, the ugly use of the culture.

She's going to ruin their ozone layer all by herself.

Being needed really is a good feeling, as long as it doesn't go overboard.

"And so, lots of pretty girls practically fall into the bland male protagonist's lap." Good summary of the genre.

"Who was the kid?" Yeah, there was no helpful arrow this time.

You know, that's pretty classic. Revealing your Evil Plan so that the hero can think of something to do against it. Someone hasn't read the Evil Overlord list.

I'm honestly surprised that Shinichi was surprised by the cultural imperialism. I mean, he'd already noticed that his work was destabilising Eldant's class structure.

Omigosh omigosh omigosh.

The Evil Plan is finally revealed. To take over Eldant by making everybody into otakus! If only The Brain had thought of that one, he would surely have succeeded in his goals!

Pretty good counter solution, Shinichi.

I don't want this series to end so soon! Was the ending implying that if enough people want it there can be more episodes? I hope so!

[up]Well...it was improving the class structure.

Episode 12. In which people have devious plans.

She's got a laugh suitable for a leader.

You know, if she didn't know about it, it kind of leads credibility to the idea that it wasn't planned by him, at least.

That's a very even fire.

It's not the first time we see those scissors, right?

This solemn music fits much better than something with tension in it, which would be the usual choice.

I find it absolutely hilarious that she calls that shadowy government figure a cookie-cutter villain. Mostly because how accurate it is. One thing about that I don't really get is how it seemed as if they were going to do a military invasion at the end, rather than a cultural one, as everything about the series was about.

I also like that she can have that absolute authority when it's needed, and not just be some Tiny Tyrannical Tsundere. I find her far more respectable than her appearance would suggest.

All Your Base Are Belong to Us. Why is that T-shirt so appropriate?

"You spelled it wrong." That's a good show of how far they've gotten.

- Cyclops owls are SOOO CUTE!

- So Matoba says...

- Seriously, did they always have that many maids? I guess not, just extra security now.

- The lizard guy can also be used as a steed! Cool!

- Must save October issue!

- Bluk-san is really winning it this episode!

- Everything turned out all right. smile

- I am glad Matoba can still get along with everybody.

- There's human students now!

- Yaaay great, humorous, feel-good anime about anime and moe and friendship!

- The ending card says "Stay tuned!" Does that mean season 2!? Does it!?!?

I'm not quite sure what the plan was. How does killing Shinichi help them? They can't pin it on Eldant and use it as an excuse to go to war as no one know's he's there. Not to mention, you don't need an excuse to go to war against a place that doesn't officially exist anyway.

Between the soccer game and the movie you would think they would have learned that military conquest of Eldant wouldn't be THAT easy anyway. And even if they did they couldn't use it. If are getting enough resources to matter on a national scale, someone would wonder where it was coming from. cookie-cutter villian indeed!.

I don't think they were really planning to go to war with Eldant at least not yet. They were trying to pin the blame for assassinating Shinichi on that rival country of Eldant, which I can't remember the name of. They basically just needed Shinichi out of the way without Petrarca finding out they did it, since that probably would start a war. Note that the Prime Minister was desperate to continue Japanese interactions with Eldant to the point that he was practically simpering in front of Petrarca.

Either the japanese goverment is afraid of Eldant closing the gate if things go south, or they really don't want to get more troops involved. Cause that would end up involving other countries.

Watching the dub for this. Makes me think of a grown up Marchen Awakens Romance without the tournament arc and more meta. I like how the perverted protagonist grows as a character rather than be static.

This fish out of water story was better than the Devil is a Part Timer and I like how heartwarming it is. The commentary was brilliant too(which reminded me of later episodes of Magi when they focused more on politics of that world).
