Again, I don't think YTV feels the poor word of mouth from the 25 to 30 crowd is going to reflect big on the 6 to 10 year old demographic YTV clearly aims for
Man the User bit in episode 10. So we get to see them, and they are some fanboy that lives in their mother's basement and has lots of merchandise and says they've been waiting 20 years.
So... why did they appear, did we need to know what they looked like? Was it necessary to put that in and potentially piss off old fans because it feels like a jab at the old fans.
OK, so they include blatant insults at the old fanbase, insults that were written and filmed well before the trailer dropped and the vast majority of backlash occurred.
Yeah, that tears it. Not touching this, and I hope it fails and doesn't get a second season.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I'm glad he pointed out Megabyte's new VA. That man is doing a bang-up job and Rainmaker doesn't deserve his talents.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I mean it's also a major case of Fridge Logic.
The User (Because that's who he apparently is) has a bunch of reboot merchandise around his basement room, so is Reboot a show? A video game? A series?
How does this relate to the abandoned Mainframe?
Why are everyone in their Season 1 incarnations? Like Enzo is V1, when he was upgraded to V10.
Where is everyone else? The Binomes? The Sprites?
Why is Cyberspace not a vast terrifying void as it was? How did it get to be that way?
So, yeah. Tried to watch the first episode as a curiosity. Failed.
Keep in mind, from the trailer, I was one of the "well, it's doing its own thing and it seems to be doing it competently enough."
And yet, here I am going "what's the point?" I can't figure out who this is supposed to appeal to. It's so... dumb. Like, it was aggressively stupid. Granted, the inherent concept is silly but the writing, dialogue, setting in general seems to be geared towards very young children. But... the brazen Dawson Casting, performances, and weirdly oppressive atmosphere seems like it's aimed at an older crowd.
I just... don't understand who the target audience.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Except my point was the that tone completely clashed with the material. It's not a "seen the original" thing.
You've got a premise dumber than Power Rangers, only instead of being over-the-top and bombastic in presentation, the scenes at Alan Turing High felt like they came from the DCEU.

It might give off a vibe that it's meant for an older crowd, but the path of least resistance would still be younger viewers who aren't steadfastly loyal to, or even aware of the older show.
At least I hope that's the case because the characters aren't coming as particularly layered, so if this is all meant for an older demographic then they've really failed.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well, my brother who is seven, and he seems to like the show, or at least the first episode, so far, so I guess it is aimed at the younger audience.
Eh, honestly, that's good enough for me. I might not like the show, but if my brother thinks it's good, that's good enough.
Signatures are for lamers. So I haven't watched this show but I did watch the original. Does anyone else feel like this should have been a Code Lyoko show instead? It fits more with the idea of kids going into a virtual world.
Maybe? I did hear that the Code Lyoko reboot wasn't that good but I never saw it myself. I finished this yesterday though and I thoroughly enjoyed it though I've also never seen the original so I'm probably not the target audience. Looking forward to a second season if we get one.
Is there going to be a second season? Are there more episodes in the queue? Does the tenth episode end on a cliffhanger? I'm assuming that the hoodie hacker is still at large.
They've only released the first ten episodes early on Netflix. There's 10 more episodes to go this season I believe.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!People say the new Megabyte sounds just like Tony Jay, so I went out to find clips of him talking. It's super weird. It's like there's this slider with "Nothing like Tony Jay" on one end and "Exactly Tony Jay" on the other, and his voice keeps sliding back and forth between the two points.
It's not bad.
Agreed
Also dem eyebrows. Weird design decision.
Seriously, he looks less intimidating than the original Megabyte.
Firey skeleton doesn't scream, "Fear me".
The whole open chest cavity with visible rib-cage bit wouldn't be too terrible if it was a result of, say, Megabyte being corrupted by the web, but it isn't. I hate the face too. Also, I saw a clip of Hex attacking Megabyte with magic, and Megs no selling the attack, which shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the two characters' power levels.
He's been "upgraded" don't ya know?
Also he shoots lightning at Frisket and misses. And still considers it impressive.
How do you fail to kick the dog?
It's not an upgrade. That would make too much sense. He's been "digitally enhanced." Because why would they use a computer term that perfectly describes what just happened to him, in a show where they constantly use computer terms, and most of the characters are named after computer terms?
Kick the Dog? If the dog is Frisket, it might be safer to just leave him alone.

I watched Forgotten History of Reboot. Haven't agreed so hard with something in a while.
My angry rant blog! So, which do you think is better? "Corrupt and Conquer" or "Invade and Infect"?
I meant be overall quality, and poor word of mouth. But yeah, it’s clear this is meant to be a separate beast...that takes its cues from another 90’s property.
