I wanted to combine as many of the don'ts from here as possible (except NSFW); namely a meme-based spoiler with a watermark that is also a collage of JAFAACs from other pages, put through a low res JPG conversion & scaling at 351 pixels, and then putting it up without anyone's approval while claiming copyright infringement of an uncredited whole work.

But I wasn't sure if it would illustrate the trope, so I made this:

Huh, I thought The Simpsons was on the page.

2 is much better than the OP, which I don't really get.

It's hard to picture a trope that's entirely subjective. sad

And the image for Homer's hell is already on Unishment.

I knew I had seen it somewhere on this site.

I have a little difficulty understanding how the OP fits the trope.

Clicking on something that say "click here!" is a sin and it sends you to the click-here hell.

It kind of work, but I don't like it.

Well, the trope is pretty light on the actual irony. Maybe because it's a hard concept to grasp. Anyway, I don't see that clicky button working. Well, it works. As a button.

2 would work if it wasn't subverted by the fact that Homer ends up enjoying it. I'm sure there are many cartoons out there on thar interwebs if we be lookin'.

Would Tantalus be too reliant on knowing the myth? I was thinking "How fitting, to punish a glutton with eternal denial." as a caption.

There is one major problem I have with this trope, and this is for TRS, and it's blatant misuse of the term "Irony". Most of the use is not ironic at all, but just customized to the sin. A fitting punishment is denying a glutton food, but it's not ironic because it's expected. An ironic punishment is forcing a glutton to eat more than he would want to. Both punishments are appropriate, but the trope is broader than "ironic."

[up][up]How tantalising... Yes, too reliant on knowing why he's there. Knowing that he is there in the first place is a little more well-known, though.

[up][up] Then maybe a picture of one of the Hindu heavens / Buddhist hells where one's every desire is met so as to distract from anything important.

OP's first suggestion would be nice for some Self-Referential Humor, and additionally, it wouldn't really require knowledge of IP rules to get, because it's a bad-quality JPEG conversion of corny internet memes, which is every internetter's worse nightmare.

The "click here" is a nice subtle nod Wiki Walking, but I think it might be a little too subtle.

Isn't the Homer one already on another page?

[up][up]The myth of Tantalus is actually the origin of that word.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

I think a pic of Tantalus would work, on grounds that it's an ur example of the trope and over two thousand years old.

Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!
