If it was the Family Guy before the second uncancellation, when the show was funny and decent, then this would have been a cool idea.

All of space and time, everything that ever was and could have been... and there's still nothing on tv

Er...are they absolutely sure that it's an actual crossover episode and not just Family Guy parodying the Simpsons on their show. (It wouldn't be the first time they've done it.)

I'm wondering that because I was under the impression that the Simpsons writers didn't like Family Guy. They certainly love taking potshots at it. So I don't know why they would agree to this if that's the case.

Yeah, remember when they advertised that episode last year as a Family Guy/American Dad crossover? It was a two-minute dream gag. This is probably just some "FG is a Simpsons rip-off" joke extended to a minute or two.

This may turn into a Flame Bait kinda thing considering the Fandom Rivalry between The Simpsons / South Park and Family Guy.

[up]and some people like south park AND family guy ;)

(although between last season being weak and the excessive delay for the new season, south park has fallen in my eyes)

[up]I agree with tis entire post (South Park has also fallen in my eyes due to reasons that are probably too flame baitey to post here). Heaven forbid somebody actually be a fan of more than one adult animated comedy!

I for one am psyched. Aside from the fact that two of my favorite shows will be together at last, maybe fans will FINALLY get it through their thick skulls that there's no "feud" between them. Homer's recent cameo on Family Guy (voiced by Dan) and Seth's guest appearance on The Simpsons just isn't enough proof for certain people.

I thought Groening was against actual crossovers in general, since he disherited the one with The Critic, and even Futurama only crossed over with the Simpsons in tiny visual gags and a non-canon comic.

One has to wonder why this wasn't done years ago.

[up][up] Well maybe the Critic case was less of an "I hate crossovers" thing and more of a "This is a really soulless, desperate marketing ploy to get people to watch the less popular show" thing. Then again this kind of sounds like a desperate ratings ploy too.

Family Guy is up and down with me at time tho it's still watchable.

People need to stop dissing it for Seth using the show as a "soap box" to spew hate. That's becoming like regular amongst Adult animated programs. Dogging on Family Guy for doing that is hypocritical as fuck.

An unfunny, hateful show and a show that ran its course over a decade ago coming together in an epic television event?

Joy!!

Maybe the two awfulnesses will cancel each other and the result will be brilliant!

A-FREAKIN-MEN! Then again, I see a lot of blatant hypocrisy in some of the Seth bashing. He has multiple shows on at once! Nobody has ever done that before! Norman Lear, Aaron Spelling, Chuck Lorre who?

An unfunny, hateful show

And once again, we're reminded of the fact that Seth's shows are Acceptable Targets around here.

All of this pessimism about the crossover is making me sad. Lighten up, people!

[up]I dont even mind Seth's humor (Hell American Dad is one of my favorite cartoons on right now) its just that FG has been getting more and more grating thses past few season to the point where every character is just insufferable and the gags rarely get as much as a chuckle from me any more. Not to mention the fact that The Simpsons has been a Franchise Zombie for years now....

Yeah lets just say I'm not putting this on my radar.

I just don't like the show. I'm not using it as a target, because that would imply it's just a cheap shot I'm taking at it tongue

Honestly, the only adult animated sitcoms I've ever seen that I liked were early Simpsons episodes and King Of The Hill.

Before I leave this thread alone, can't people just, I don't know, genuinely hate a show for their own particular reasons? I myself dislike the show because it's in stagnation, the jokes just aren't hitting it for me anymore.

Word. Why can't we all just hate what we hate without worrying about judgement from others?

I realize how ridiculous that sounds when I put it that way.

2014? Are they really banking people to remember/ care for either show by that point?

Think of it this way, in 1999, were you really banking on people still caring about these shows in 2013?

And I doubt that people are just going to forget that these shows exist by then or just completely stop watching by then. That's not even a year away.

Hey, if you remember the different posters that were seen in the panorama of the post-apocalyptic New York City in 2007's adaptation of I Am Legend, you knew that humanity was already doomed when this was announced. Anyway, I'm curious to see how they pull it off. Two completely different writing styles merging together (officially) for the first time, though it's gonna be difficult for me to watch the entire hour, since I will be living on campus for the first time when it premieres. Apparently it was mentioned during Comic-Con that one of the Griffin family members will be killed off and ultimately be replaced, as well as hints of a possible American Dad movie.
