"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman[1]◊
EDIT: had to resize from 400 to 350. Anyone else notice that the Image Uploader doesn't let you drag and drop anymore? I think I'll take that to Bug Report. See here.
EDIT 2: Added caption

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I had an example in mind but that's brilliant.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand 3 is perfect.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I don't like it. I kinda doubt he was in that position when he got hit.
Check out my fanfiction!Seems great to me.
Belief or disbelief rests with you.It didn't make sense until I started reading the page, but that image seems to be just what the page is referring to. The current looks like it didn't understand the concept. The hitbox is supposed to be around her, isn't it?
I like 3.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanFor cases where the hitbox is larger than the character, yes, not when it's smaller.
Check out my fanfiction!^^^ The current is an example of a hitbox being too small, and the suggestion is an example of a hitbox being too big.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I like the current very much, but Rethkir's suggestion is just as good.
Duck: I think that he's reacting to being hit.
Lexicon: The hitbox can be much larger than her, much smaller than her, partly inside and partly outside of her in an illogical fashion.... As long as it's dissonant.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I think the current is good but 3 illustrates the trope a bit better by showing the hitbox as an outline around the character being hit. My vote (pending other suggestions) goes to 3.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMWhich is my point. If he's reacting, he's not in the same position as when he got hit.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't feel that changes a lot, there. Geometrically, it still doesn't look like he was actually hit; only his hitbox was.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI've had the same problem with timing on other images, and it just breaks them for me. I don't really care for either image, though.
Check out my fanfiction! My vote goes to 3.
The problem with the current is that all it shows is a person getting stabbed numerous times - with Major Injury Underreaction, Clothing Damage and bloodied weapons to boot - with the character in question reassuring someone that they all missed her hitbox; without telling us what a hitbox is. Meaning, if we don't know what a "hitbox" is (e.g. if we haven't read the article), then we wouldn't know what we're looking. Worse, it's potentially misleading since the character clearly got hit and has suffered some effects from it; namely the aforementioned blood and damaged clothes.
Conversely, 3 pretty clearly shows a quite literal hitbox with the character reacting upon getting hit within the square. to 3.

Seems like no matter how perfect a page image is, somebody will object to it for some reason. for 3.
Seems like no matter what one objects to, someone will always whine about it.
Check out my fanfiction! For 3, it's clear that he's hit in the hitbox and not on his body because of the hit effect (that should really be a trope). I didn't think it was the most ideal image, but it was the best I could find. It's certainly better than the current, which is misleading for reasons already stated and doesn't even show a hitbox.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.for three.
The graphic affect shows that the attacker's effectivly hit mid air, yet since it's within the hitbox, the defender's hit.
Honestly, Duck, I think you're being way too strict with your analysis on this one. We've got enough consensus to run with the pic; it's up and tagged. I didn't put up the caption that was with it; thoughts?

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. It's just a personal opinion, and I'm perfectly aware that other don't see it the way I do. I don't see what the big deal is. But it's not an analysis. That's precisely what it isn't. It's a gut reaction. Instant Fridge Logic, if you will.

Crown Description:
Selecting a caption for the pic for Hitbox Dissonance.
Not really liking the current image, but we need ideas for what to replace it with. I've got one brewing in mind, but that takes work.
A few panels (like panel 2) from this Skyrim comic might work....
