So it's official that they live on Angel island. Dafuq?
Cow-bot is too adorable.
"We be we baby!"MY RECOOOOOOOORD!!!
"We be we baby!""No more Eggman"
...
Last time I checked, you guys use to want him dead!!! Classic Sonic would be displeased.
DID THEY JUST REFERENCE DAVE?!
What a twist ending!
"We be we baby!"Just finished watching Cowbot. It was pretty funny. I really liked Knuckles in this episode.
boop I'm more active on hereI thought this series had no continuity, then this episode happened with a dave reference.
"We be we baby!"I knew they'd bring in some continuity eventually. It seems to be a thing with CN shows to start out with Negative Continuity then gradually introduce some as the show progresses and then eventually you have full-on arcs.
"Sonic, bro to bro, what's up with you and Amy?"
People, this is the reason why Eggman is the BEST CHARACTER!
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Cowbot's probably my favorite episode so far. It was funny, it had continuity, and it actually did a really good job exploring Sonic and Eggman's relationship. Pretty safe to say Go-Karting with Bowser is in full effect for this show. In fact, given there doesn't seem to be any genuine animosity between Sonic and co. and Eggman, it seems to me that the only reason he keeps trying to kill them is because there's nothing else to do. Seriously, think about it. When have we ever seen Sonic and his friends doing anything exciting or worthwhile with their lives besides saving the day from Eggman's robots? Heck, this episode actually went out of its way to show how bored everyone was before Cowbot attacked.
Sonic Boom takes place in some horrible limbo world where everyone's lives are meaningless and inane. Sonic, Tails, Amy, and possibly Eggman and Dave are the only ones self-aware and intelligent enough to realize this. All other inhabitants of the island seen so far seem to be insane, stupid, and/or jerks who are blissfully happy with their idle existence. The self-aware people respond to the limbo in different ways. Amy is the most proactive, trying to better the world (acting as Team Mom, knitting sweaters for penguins, etc.). Tails is an engineer, focusing on learning and building. Sonic seems okay with lounging around eating chili dogs all day, but he's also adopted a Deadpan Snarker attitude that implies he's somewhat bitter towards his lot in life. Eggman and Dave, meanwhile, want to burn the world down and rebuild it in their image. However, the downside of this supervillainy is that Eggman has no friends (as touched on in Cowbot) and Dave is some nobody working a minimum wage job. The characters will remain trapped in this endless cycle of "lounge around bored, Eggman shows up, defeat Eggman, lounge around bored" until either Eggman wins or he gives up / dies / Lyric or Dave or someone takes over the world instead.
So you see, Sonic the Hedgehog is really a story about the inherent meaninglessness of life.
One more thing: That Angel Island reference surprised me. For an Alternate Continuity, this show sure has a whole lot of continuity with the games... In fact, has it outright contradicted the old games in any ways besides the redesigns and Knuckles's, Amy's, and Shadow's characterizations?

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon. Not that I remember. Hmm...
In this Alternate Continuity, The Master Emerald never existed
The island is in the middle of nowhere, the emerald was stolen and was never recovered.
or...
Knuckles is from Angel Island, but he don't want to go back
His life is boring there.
I don't know man, this just brings a lot of questions!
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Shadow hasn't even appeared in the show yet.
Screw the game, I'm not counting it.
At least some of the games are canon to Sonic Boom. The classics would fit pretty well thanks to their cartoony atmosphere (plus Knuckles being gullible in Sonic 3 fits with his Boom characterization), and Colors and Lost World are basically the same tone and style anyways. The redesigns can be explained as a Time Skip, so everyone's older, Eggman got fatter, Sonic stopped shaving his arms, etc.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Oh man, Eggman's wrist button, wasn't it green before he picked up Lyric's blue button?
I think only the first two genesis games can count as canon in this world. The third game is pretty Broad Strokes.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. That was single-handedly the best line I've heard on this show.
Sonic's reaction just seals it.
Who writes these episodes?

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Agreed.
That was a pretty awesome episode. I think my favorite part of this show is how Sonic is more annoyed by Eggman in completely mundane situations than when he's actively trying to destroy them. Watching them just hanging out in Eggman's fort was comedy gold.
Reaction Image RepositoryI think what's more interesting is despite being annoyed by him, he still goes out of his way to save him too.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.So I just remembered that this show existed and took the time to watch the three latest episodes.
"Guilt Tripping" was okay-ish, though passive-aggressiveness can only be funny for so long. Loved Eggman's voicemails, though. Great gag.
"Dude, where's our Eggman?" was good. Liked the focus on the bots for a change, Knuckles' story was funny (especially when tipped by part of it actually being true), and the ending managed to somehow be both cliché and surprising at the same time. And funny. Don't forget funny.
"Cowbot", however, is hands-down the best episode so far. You can just imagine the writers having great fun with this, milking the inherent sillyness of a giant robot cow for all it's comedic worth. It also did the "hero and villain living together" gag way better than "Can an evil genius sleep on your couch" did. Heck, you might even say that this episode justifies more or less everything that happens in this series; everybody is incredibly bored, and this continuous struggle of good vs. evil is just one of the many silly games they play to keep themselves from going completely mad.
Gee, if only a villain by the name of Lyric showed up and kept them from doing stupid crap like coconut toss!
"We be we baby!"Do Sonic and his friends have jobs or anything? How can they afford to lounge around like this?
They've saved the world so much at this point that they're all rich superstars who want for nothing.
I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.Sticks knows what we really have to fear is fan works, and that's a rock fact!
This "Sonic Says" has been brought to you by rocks.
Rocks: Tiny versions of boulders.
MOAR CONTINUITY!: T. W. Barker returns and meets the gang for the first time.
"We be we baby!"WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE THE PLANE BEHIND?
"We be we baby!"
Indeed. They tried fixing Amy's dress but... it just isn't working. It's not flat as a board now, but her tail's sticking out and it's two short. She's got Zettai Ryouki now.
Anyway. Rest in peace, Rock of Justice.
(I kind of wish that it broke to reveal a Chaos Emerald, and when Sticks threw it into the pile, it turned out that she found a whole bunch of them)
