Jupiter Ascending should be a good one to review. You know, many people call it "ridiculous," "stupid but fun," "so bad it's good," but, honestly, I found it not stupid and riduculous enough. If it was a bit sillier, we'd have an unintentional comedy classic. But this movie is just so bad it's bad.
I can't recall her name, but a female writer on Twitter compared Jupiter Ascending to a fanfic written by a teenage girl. (For the record, she meant it as a compliment.) And, for better or worse, she's absolutely right. Confusing plot, a Mary Sue-ish main character, really unconvincing romance... Not to mention boring characters: Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, and Sean Bean do what they can but they just get nothing to play. The main character is particularly bad—she basically does nothing for the majority of the runtime but react to things. She takes initiative only in the last minutes of the movie, but then it's too late for me to care. The only interesting character is the main villain (yup, this guy◊).
Just a person. He/him....Wow, that guy has a neck like a giraffe.
Oh God! Natural light!Yeaaah, I just linked to Event Horizon's page...
Jupiter Ascending might be more funny movie to review though. I mean, Event Horizon gets really gory
... I'm still not for Doug reviewing a movie that only barely gets/got released on home video. He the ... NO-STAL-GIA Critic!
Jupiter Ascending is nostalgic? O-o
My point.
Eh, he did say in the "Review Must Go On" that he eschewed time limit and every movie was game, as long as they weren't in theaters anymore.
Honestly, I've never really cared if the material the Nostalgia Critic reviews is actually nostalgic. I'm like a decade younger than Doug, so our frames of reference are different. Hell, I'm not even American, so I lack familiarity with many things he references. (Though admittingly, the first review of his I had ever seen was of a movie that I had seen on TV years before but couldn't have remembered its title. Also, did you know that Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue aired in my country on almost all TV stations as well, but eight years after its release in the US?)
So yeah, basically I watch NC for comedy, regardless of the movie.

Just a person. He/him.Still, a lot of the comedy is predicated on the source material in a show like this. Certain movies are easier to make fun of than others, and reviews of certain movies will just be funnier because you can get better material out of those movies.
Persobally, though, I'm really sick of all these reviews of semi-recent action flicks. Just mix it up already.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Agreed; if the movie gives enough material for a review, what does it matter when it was released?
Just a person. He/him.I'm not sure I get this joke from NC's review of Devil.
Santa Christ informs the others that this movie was meant to be the first in a series of movies. He's then asked why there aren't more of them.
-Beat-
Santa Christ: Because the first one was ''Devil".
Everyone Else: Oh.
Was it because the first one was such a stinker that they pretty much aborted the rest of this "series"?

...I have no idea what the frick this is. (The show, not the editorial.)
...... what the HELL is this!? I never heard of this show before!! And I was alive in the 80's!

I guess its 80s thing? Haven't watched episode yet
Ohh thats the sitcom with the robot girl!
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."If you read people's lists of "worst TV shows" and the like you probably know Small Wonder.
A lot of the syndicated sitcoms of the 80s have a certain infamy in some circles because, as one blog put it, "they seem like they were written, directed and acted by cave trolls."
(And this was the president of NBC's favorite show!)

"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."I only first heard of this show through TV Trash's review of it. Concept is creepy as hell.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Would be a great premise for an anime comedy though.
Dr. Slump isn't exactly the same, but it also has robot girl as a main character, who acts weird.
Slump and small wonder actually do have the same premise the difference is slumps funny and small wonders humourless and dreary
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."Hell, there are TONS of moe anime android girls.
Out of curiosity, exactly from what page to what page did this thread talk about NC's review of Sailor Moon?
I'd argue that makes it creepier.
But isn't it the basic premise of Chobits?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.More or less. In Chobits, it's not about a family with children, but a single guy trying to get by in Tokyo who goes to cram school.
Uh, no it doesn't. Click the link several posts up.
