did we ever get an official name for that frog girl?
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceIt was Gabi voiced by Kristen Chenoweth.
Yeah guys, I'm back and don't worry, I won't doing anymore posts on Rio's Blu and Jewel couple thing, and I wanna say I'm sorry for all those questions and posts about them and that say your opinions are wrong.
So if you guys it was troperiffic, what kind of tropes did you guys see in the movie. Oh, and don't worry about spoilers I get plenty of that from reading their wikia site.
and tell me what you guys think of the movie while you're at it.
I think it was surprisingly good in every respect. I blame that on the director and whoever was responsible for the dialog. Yeah, those people managed to ruin my usual grumpiness with this movie. I was smiling for several hours after seeing it.
My favorite line was mentioned on page 6.
Also, those implications with the frog at the end... Getting some crap past the radar, eh?

I really. REALLY. Really hate movie trailers these days. I suppose I'll try ot see it anyway then. :/
Remember the scene in the trailer when one bird asked another bird to call him "sir"?
Well, about 30 seconds is cut there. The actual scene plays out much better, and shows the grumpy papa burd as a caring leader with good intentions.

Alright guys, I have been reading the reviews and plot for Rio 2 (no, I haven't seen the movie yet) and I can deduce that these tropes have appeared in it and are not already on it's page
Badass Family: Each one in the main family, Bird or Human, has Taken A Level In Badass at least once.
The Friend Nobody Likes: It's hinted that the only reasons the tribe didn't kick Blu out in the film was because of Jewel and the kids, and most likely out of pity. If there is one thing that all of the bird tribes in the amazon (minus Mimi, his immediate family, and his friends) agree on, is that they think he's a loser (at first of course).
Dysfunctional Family / Big, Screwed-Up Family: Blu, Jewel, The kids, and anyone else related to them are a part of this. They become even more dysfunctional as the movie goes on.
Took a Level in Jerkass: Jewel and Eduardo, along with the rest of the clan (minus Mimi and the kids), as they both berate, abuse, and neglect Blu constantly despite him being one of their kind, trying to impress them, and doing whatever he can to make them happy. Though they do get better by the end.
Ungrateful Bitch: Jewel becomes this over the course of the movie, as she most of the time, doesn't thank Blu for the sacrifices that he has made for her or the kids, she is almost completely oblivious to Blu's problems of being in the wild, and when he tries to talk to her about them, she gets all defensive, baggy, and accuses him of being selfish. In other words, she acts very unappreciative towards him.
- To a lesser extent, Eduardo and the macaw tribe could also be this as they do thank Blu at first for returning his daughter, but then start to act openly hostile towards him.
Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Most of the Bird characters could count as this. Since, despite their rather harsh and negative demeanor, they do care about one another.
All of the Other Reindeer: Blu, obviously.
So, What do you guys think? Also tell me about any other tropes that you also saw in the movie. OH, and By the way this is not based on my opinion, this was based on what I've read.

I think you are... overfeeling it. Also, too quick to look at any character as a "jerk". There were no jerks in the movie.
Blu actually was being a little bit selfish. Jewel and the kids loved being in the Amazon, but he just wanted them to go home. And I don't remember Jewel ever abusing him throughout the entire film. The worst she did was accuse him of only thinking about himself (And she didn't even raise her voice for that).
I don't think that's entirely true. You can actually understand and justify though why he was having that 'selfishness'. Jewel and the kids practically ignored him and his discomforts for quite a bit of the film, Eduardo and most of the tribe (minus Mimi, Roberto, Jewel, and the kids) berated and hurt him at every chance they took, and he just couldn't seem to adapt to the environment where he was. Why would he not want to go back to Rio? And he personally just wanted to go home, but he does recognize how much Jewel and the kids love it there. I will agree too that Jewel didn't really hurt him in any way.
By the way, this was just only what they articles portrayed, I wasn't trying to be biased at all. Jeez, I can't put one post on here without being accused of being obsessed or being overemotional or something else. This may as well be my last post.

Ima sorry, but burds belong with other burds. If it were people, I'd understand. But just because you were raised in the city, does not mean your children are not better off with their own kind. Better live in the forest than live extinct. You approach the issue as if Blu were a hoomain, but he isn't one. He's a burd.

I think it's just better to see the film before trying to speculate on tropes from it. Movie reviews are hardly the most accurate things around.
Having seen the film, I'll mention that the only bird who belittled Blu too much was Eduardo, and that was largely due to his Fantastic Racism against humans. Roberto was relatively friendly overall, though he did freak out a bit when he thought Blu was working to bring Linda to their sanctuary, and it seemed justified to me.

I'll also mention, having not seen the first film, that I thought the second one was okay, if a trite predictable. The only thing that surprised me was that the GPS didn't end up as a Chekhov's Gun...

I completely forgot.
The Dreamworks short.
Will anyone talk about it? Or was it only my theater that played it?
It was rather forgettable, IMO. Reminded me of Pixar's "Lifted", which was funnier and used pantomime very effectively to convey its humor.
—R.J.
.... what Dreamworks short?
Probably the Rocky and Bullwinkle short or the Home short.
boop I'm more active on here......... that played in front of Rio 2?? They're not even under the same corporation!

And yet, somehow, it happened.
MY MIND!
I CAN'T EVEN!
Hey guys, Papercutz released a graphic novel prequel to Rio 2, called "Snakes Alive", this week. Another novel, "The Creature From Blu's Lagoon" is on the way. Should there be pages for those?
No, it is a minor thing. Minor things don't deserve love.
Okay, they deserve some. But not too much.

There Is No Such Thing as Notability. If you feel there are enough tropes to warrant a separate page, go for it. If not, just add it to the current one.
Though there probably should be a separate page for the sequel, instead of co-mingling the two films.
—R.J.
That gives me an idea...
EDIT: created the page! The header is PERFECT, don't you change it. And please don't rewrite my description too much; I put too much love into it.

And in case no one figured out by now, the quote at the top is a joke. Feel free to replace it with something better.
As long as you properly index it and any subpages thereof.
