Just a Face and a Caption: Network Decay

It's just the CNReal logo with a caption that explains even less about the trope. Furthermore, it's technically bashing CNReal. I have no idea what we could use for a new image, though.

Wow! I thought I've seen JAFAAC before, but this... It's just text. It carries absolutely no meaning to the uninformed. Kill it with fire.

I'm not sure that counts as an image.

If we had the original Cartoon Network logo, I think it could work. Going from Cartoon Network to reality shows implies the trope well enough.

We need more than logos. Before this discussion, I had no idea what CNReal was. I think we need a depiction of its programming for a proper comparison

It might work if used with a reality show or something, but not the logo on its own.

If anyone can find an image like what Rethkir said, I'd be all for it. However, are we all in agreement that we need a better image?

What about the MTV logo change where they dropped the part that says "Music Television"? [1]◊

Alternatively, what about good ol' Jersey Shore with the huge "MTV: Music Television" logo next to it? [2]◊

They look a bit better, but they don't really tell you what the trope is about.

How about a screenshot of the MTV schedule for the day, without a single mention of anything music-related? http://www.mtv.com/ontv/schedule/

That's not recognizable as MTV, since it says "The Music Channel" and the graphic design is so poor the letters are pretty much illegible.

But I suppose just a logo that says "Music Television" next to one that's dropped it and is just MTV could work.

Can always contrast between the Scifi and Syfy channels

Since one of the main supposed reasons was to get a trademark-able name, and that I can think of exactly one new addition (pro wrestling) that doesn't fit under the "sci fi" umbrella, I'm not so sure.

The trope isn't Dumb Name Change, though.

But it shows that channel isn't devoted to Sci-Fi anymore, and is actively distancing itself from it.

But... it's not? If it's doing anything as blatant as The Learning Channel, I don't know about it (although I'll admit that I could easily have missed it).

Rather like 23.3. Nice comparison shot showing how a channel used to live up to its name, then later changed to the point that it now doesn't.
