I think this could be improved. The couple probably fits, but the picture doesn't say it. Any ideas?

Well, they're back to back and it looks like they're doing magic so Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

I'd prefer something that's not got as much glare in it, but Keep Until Better Image Suggested for now.

Green Arrow And Black Canary 2 3 4?

(Prefer the 1st myself as it has both the couple and asskicking part)

There's also Jean and Cyclops. 1

I think the first CanArrow one is best on couple, worst on battle. The second is much better on the battle, a little less on the couple. The others are worse.

Jean and Cyke is great on both, so that's my favourite thus far.

That said, I don't think the current is bad.

I prefer 4.1 The fact they are hugging while cooperating at firing the same bow sells it so well.

Agree to 4.1. You can't argue that it doesn't show the "battle" aspect as they're firing a frickin' bow together. Bonus points as it results in the subversion of whole chunks of the Archer Archetype - specifically the loner and Cold Sniper aspects of it.

One or two more votes for 4.1 and we can launch it.

A little bit too late, but how's this one?

At least this can go to the Image Links, no?

EDIT: On the second thought, this is probably too busy and the couple part is not as clear as 4.1.

Looks like the Green Arrow is teaching the Black Canary how to (not?) use a bow.

With the background pointing symbolic resistance at them?

I vote for 4.1 or 4.4. I don't care for 5.

@ m8e - That's what I thought. What makes 4.1 worst on battle is that it looks like she needs him to show her how to use the bow. "They" aren't hugging, he's hugging her. I'm not sure if she even really wants to be there.

Edit: I think 14 is actually pretty good.

I think 4.4 is the best of the bunch. It does the best job of clearly establishing "battle" while not being too busy.

Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.

[up][up] The only issue with the image is that it's unclear at first glance—but I don't agree that anyone is going to think that Green Arrow is trapping Dinah. She's smiling, he's smiling. She has her arm wrapped around his head, his arm is wrapped around her waist. She's holding the bow, he's drawing it. That doesn't translate into him teaching her how to use it. The only issue is that it's kind of unclear without checking what each arm is doing. Would lightening the image help?

I don't like 14. It has no aspect of "couple", and might be mistaken for any couple, platonic, filial, romantic, etc. The image has to have two things: battle and couple. Most images are light on the battle or light on the couple. 4.1 (and possibly my 5) is the only one that has each part equally, although it's a bit hard to make out.

"They" aren't hugging, he's hugging her. I'm not sure if she even really wants to be there.

She's running her hand through his hair and smiling whole doing that... Clearly a universal sign she hates his guts

Edit: I think 14 is actually pretty good.

So you think the two people intertwined don't show couple enough (saying they aren't hugging enough and she doesn't look like she wants to be there) whereas the two member of the couple not interacting at all with one another shows the couple part more?

@peasant: I didn't say it doesn't show the battle aspect. I said every other image shows it better. It's less clear about that than all other images.

On the other hand, I can say it now. It really doesn't show the battle aspect at all. It's got an artistic background, which places them outside of any actual event, and into an image that's just a pose. If they actually were in a battle, it would just be horribly ineffective to shoot a bow like that. Both of them are better than that. They don't seem to be taking anything seriously, which isn't how most people would take a battle.

Great way to put it Duck! On the other hand if the man and woman are back to back, like in 14, then they're both competent fighters in an actual battle. There's the Smiths [1] [2].
