Previous thread on this topic. Plus, as they're muses, they technically are "in universe."
They may be in-universe, but where's the portion that shows them commentating?
That's not clear from the picture.
I'll spend some more time searching later, but for the moment I am very peeved that this◊ is the most suitable image of the Mariachi Owls I can find. I know there are images that are better.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableWhile not quite as clear as their current pic, what about this pic◊ of the Muses?

Would be all right if it wasn't so badly artifacted.
Keep Until Better Image Suggested.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I would like 5 but with less artifacting. The Rango one gives me no idea about the trope.
I am not seeing misuse concerns, though. I would vote to keep the current as a Visual Pun if nothing else is forthcoming.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe current are Greek muses so I think it's fine. I don't know how you would show the trope better.
Well, the trope is a group of people who comment about the story as it's happening. Not literally about Greeks singing. This is a picture of the muses, who are an example, but it's not clear from the picture. How do you know they comment about the story? How do you know they're muses? I think the Rango one would be great if were clear they continue to appear of the story, rather than the logo.
That said, I'm fine with the image.

I'd prefer a better version of the Muses, too.
Also, 0:30 - last chance for Rango, then I try something else. :P
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableClock is set.
Mariachi Owls from that video . I never saw Rango, but this is pretty funny. Although they seem to be playing the background music more than narrating.

Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Hey, how about a completely different source: Cat Ballou?

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The owls narrate, although that particular clip may just be them and music. They set the scene at the beginning of the movie and pop up repeatedly to talk to the audience and give us a pessimistic account of what's going to happen.
That's good.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Either of those may be our best bet.
I can trim the letterboxing from the second one.
I like the composition of the first one a bit more, but I think that the second is slightly better at conveying that they're doing some sort of a narration, not just a performance in the street.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.More from Cat Ballou (screencaps from Youtube, so they'e a little fuzzier)
Or, here's a youtube video of all the times Stubby and Nat are onscreen and singing; maybe someone else can spot a better frame: video

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I like the lower left.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I like the lower left or either of the ones in 14 (sans letterboxing).
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I can't tell if they're saying anything about the story. What about this◊?
14.2 > 18 lower left > 14.1

Lexicon — how is that a Greek chorus at all? It may be a Show Within a Show, but it's not
- A minor character or group of minor characters
- who offer commentary and/or opinions on the actions of the main characters,
- usually by Breaking the Fourth Wall and addressing the audience directly.
- a proper Greek Chorus differs by being removed from the action and thus able to view it with something approaching objectivity.
- The role is frequently played by Those Two Guys.
And short of subtitles, how do you expect any still image to show what the people in it are talking about?
In the Cat Ballou ones, the two characters are walking through the scene, clearly singing or saying something and no one else in the scene even seems to notice that they're there.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I may be wrong, but I think that's from Romeo And Juliet, with the newscast taking the part of the opening narration. Still, I think the Cat Ballou pics are more clear.

I like 18.3 or 14.2 best so far.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
Simply put, the image does not show characters commentating in-universe.
