The trope is "oversized forehead", not "shiny forehead", therefore the image is Not An Example.

True, but "shiny" is a symptom, so I'm voting Keep Until Better Image Suggested. [up] is alright, but just alright.

But the girl's forehead isn't oversized.

[up] A classic! That has my vote.

The current image is what I supplied, along with many other screenshots demonstrating the sheer size of Miyako's forehead, in the last IP thread for this trope.

Er, this trope doesn't actually seem to emphasize monsters or aliens. It's about regular characters who are given a very large forehead which is emphasized in their daily life.

And the description does make a big deal about forehead shininess. Outside of the first sentence.

Her forehead still doesn't look any larger or more prominent than the other girl's.

These were the other two images that I uploaded onto the site during the last discussion. I had many more possibilities, but I've long since deleted them from my photobucket and can't take more screenshots again right now.

Really, I don't know why VLC is messed up for me, and why it's messing up Windows Media Player for me as well. I'm unable to watch DV Ds on my computer and take more screenshots. :/

But I digress, you can see how large her forehead is even though she's being portrayed in a chibi style there.

[up] Those are alright, but I've seen bigger foreheads in other characters. Here's a possibility.

Ahh yes. Yai and her infamous forehead. I'm surprised she wasn't suggested in the last thread.

... hmm. Looking back on that thread, even I feel I was too hasty in putting the picture up. It was agreed upon to be used, but not by the same number of people that we use nowadays.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested. Oppose Frankenstein since it's not just about monsters, and oppose [1] because it doesn't work better.

I'm not sure I understand the trope. I see there's no laconic either...

It seems to be primarily the anime version of My Brain Is Big? Except not necessarily implying intelligence.

If that's the case, then the image on the image links page is the best I've seen so far.

[up] She was the original picture when the trope was launched, but even for a trope showing a physical part of a person's face, she was nothing more than JAFAAC. At least the current one shows that the forehead is being used for comedic purposes.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

[up] I see. So the current image suits it better because it has the forehead in use for a joke?

I'm sure there has to be a better picture for showing off her forehead. It's quite pronounced sometimes.

For instance if we used [1] we might even be able to keep the caption, since it's a hypothetical statement anyway.

I think we could use this one [2] on the basis that they're both lower-key versions of the reflective forehead joke currently in use. Same with this [3].

She is a pretty good example given the right picture, though I'm not positive I've found it.

I originally did have a pic of Himeko's reflection in her forehead, right before the shot in the image currently being used, but I only used the first episode for examples. At the time, I couldn't think of any other episodes where her forehead reflected images, like in 17.1. That one actually isn't bad.

17.1 > 17.3 > 17.2

EDIT: I'd be satisfied with 17.3, but I think 17.1 is slightly better.

Important question: If this is about large foreheads being used for comedic purposes, why on earth is it called Forehead of Doom?

Belief or disbelief rests with you.

Because adding "of doom" makes it seem more ominous.

Because whoever named the trope was fond of Doomy Dooms of Doom. Or Doom, I dunno.
