Really, to give that description of things to him of all people.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Careful what you wish for, Raina.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well, Raina might be... erm... removing herself from the equation.
A very big Alas, Poor Villain vibe going on today.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. So is Raina a female version of Spike or something?
Man, I hope Simmons isn't going to go all Knight Templar on us.
Anyway, HYDRA hints. The Baroness is definitely Madame HYDRA, I don't know who the Banker could be. Strucker perhaps? He's sometimes associated with HYDRA's money.
Aw, shit. Tripp really was related to Gabe Jones.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain....that just happened.
so the bad guys have a teleporter
I don't know who any of the HYDRA heads are... assuming most of them just died.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I don't think that teleporter was working with Hyde.
Anyways, I really hope whatever Mac and Bobbi are working on isn't evil - like maybe they're working directly for fury. I'm getting pretty tired of named characters turning out to be evil and/or dying in the MCU, especially this show.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Not the most exciting premiere but it existed mostly to set up future episodes. Why do I feel like Raina and no-eyes are going to be a couple?
Ditto, I mean... we kind of just got away from Ward's Face–Heel Turn. If Bobbi and Mack turn out to be Rooting for the Empire too, I don't know if I can accept that. On the other hand, making Coulson "think" he's losing it, just to have a "cooldown" later, reinforcing Coulson's belief in his agents, is kind of clever.
Probably just a Red Herring though. They wouldn't just discuss "evil" plans in the middle of a person's wake, would they?
Plus, Ward's was dramatic. Bobbi and Mac would go from being the most empathetic members/The Heart of the team to being backstabbers for... what purpose?

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I definitely don't think Mack and Bobbi are evil. My guess is there may be other factions who want to have a say in how SHIELD is being run and disagree strongly with how Coulson is doing it hence the interest in the item Fury gave Coulson to help rebuild in the first place.
Yay! Nothing gross happened with Raina!!!!
.....'Cause y'know, the implication that "ugly" girls need to kill themselves....yeah, that was pretty gross. Fuck you, Calvin.
...Agent 33 pretty much lost all sense of purpose once Whitehall died...
Hey, Lorelai's back.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Awesome episode.
Well I thought HYDRA might get phased out as the main bad guys of the series, but I didn't expect them to wipe out basically all of HYDRA's upper leadership except for Baron von Strucker the first episode back. Given that, I think by the time Baron Zemo shows up in Civil War the organization as it currently exists will be defunct. Sure they might have some agents around, but with the leadership in shambles there isn't anyone for those agents to report to.
Also judging from the promo for next week I'm glad they aren't going to string out the whole "Skye is hiding her powers from everyone" thing for very long. No matter how well done they are, those sorts of story arcs get less and less probable the longer they run.
No that's just Sif.

Wait, I didn't see all of the preview for the next episode. Is Agent 33 showing up?
edited 3rd Mar '15 7:29:06 PM by higherbrainpattern
She isn't in the promo, but I can't imagine they are going to hold off on revealing what Ward and Agent 33 have been up to for too long.
Oh no, it didn't show her. I meant the way she reacted, just going to Ward's side once Whitehall died.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Well, that's brainwashing for you.
Oh God! Natural light! And thus, the aftermath of crazy shit.
And next week, Sif is back, and looking to get stabbity on someone.

One Strip! One Strip! The special affects were pretty damn great,as was this episode The teleporter was awesome, and Raina looks great. That weird twist they did in this episode blindsided me for a few minutes, but I consider that to be a good thing. It's time to get back in action!

Tis the great art of life to manage well The restless mindYou know, I think Mr. Hyde's rant about getting a bunch of random supervillains together and wrecking shit for the halibut (and/or vengeance) might be the most purely comic-book villainy moment in the MCU yet.
Also, for all that we were convinced that Fitz was going show off a dark side and ultimately turn antagonistic in some way (which I'm still not ruling out), I at least never really gave much thought to that happening with Simmons instead. But while I don't necessarily think she's going to go Heel Turn on us yet (at least not without more follow-up), that Knight Templar streak she's getting is definitely going to be... problematic. Especially if it leads to full-on Fantastic Racism.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Good episode. I was a little disappointed with just how damned gullible the Hydra guy was. He killed a bunch of his fellow heads just because a random guy kinda-sorta hinted he was being paid to kill Bakshi on their behalf? I could understand it if he captured them. But killing them? It makes him look like an idiot.
Another problem was how much they tried to milk the grief over Tripp's death. I can understand them grieving, but it was pretty obvious they were trying to make it out as though he'd been something of the team's heart. And that's not something we were ever shown. Because the writers did not a damned thing with Tripp at any point, it made it harder to really buy into the whole "Be Sad That He's Dead" thing. It made it all ring a little hollow.
One thing I did like: "They'll never take us alive!" Oh, Coulson.
I also liked the Raina stuff. She's cool.
And one final observation: The only dead scientist whose face we see? Black guy. I just found that weirdly amusing.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.I doubt the last thing was any more than extra casting and probability having a field day
"You can reply to this Message!"I was glad that they spend some time on the team grieving. Granted, it would have been better if the audience had known Trip better, too, but at least we now can feel for the characters we do know.
I liked the episode. I could cuddle Fitz. I am glad that they explore the "team members are afraid" theme, even though I am a little bit surprised that Simmons is the obsessive one, but then, it kind of makes sense. But I admit, I enjoyed the most how the outwitted Hydra. It was high time that they get a true win.
And somewhere, someplace Strucker just had the most epic Face Palm.
"You can reply to this Message!"
I'd say I felt bad for Raina... but I don't.Spoke too soon.Mac and Fitz, role reversal.
