A sister trope maybe. Nerds Are Sexy is intelligence being attractive. Adorkable is awkwardness being attractive. Since the two traits are often linked together it's possible for them to overlap.

Nerds Are Sexy isn't intelligence (although that should totally be a trope), it's...nerds. I would say almost all examples would be Hollywood Nerd which would include awkwardness, but still, you're right.

Hm. I think that's kind of what Nerds Are Sexy is going for though, isn't it? Still not the same thing even so.

Nerds Are Sexy is intelligence being attractive. "However, it is interest and intellect that makes the nerd, not looks. And for some folks, intelligence is very, very attractive." and "The nerd's 'objective' looks could fall anywhere within the wide spectrum of human attractiveness." Adorkable is awkwardness being cute. I don't think there would be much overlap.

Geeky Turn-On is another quasi-related trope - it has nothing to do with the "true" definition of Adorkable, but it's potholed into the image caption.

I would expect that in practice, lots of tropers use Nerds Are Sexy and Adorkable interchangeably; lots of people aren't clear on the distinction (if any) between nerd and dork.

Me bump, you no thump.

So, what's the next move? Wait more on the crowner, take on the leading option, or reboot the whole thing yet again?

I don't think the top option makes any sense, so I'd hate to see it take action.

We might need to close this as "unfixed".

Also, I am sure we can use more appropriate tropes than the ones listed.

I don't see anything wrong with the leading option. However, I note that this crowner appears messed up due to the software glitch earlier this month, so I'm not convinced the totals displayed are accurate. Still, a lot of interest has been shown here, and it would be a shame to close it without doing anything.

Because it basically means cutting a valid trope. None of the tropes we're redirecting people to on that page are the same thing and are frequently unrelated, as I've said before.

We really don't need to cut the trope. I think the subpages should be temporarily locked and we should remove fan reaction examples. That's my opinion.

[up] I agree. Sadly, that's not what the result of the crowner is now. And the chances that it swings to deleting incorrect examples and removing audience reaction are very low now.

Interesting that those who voted for cutting all examples and redirecting seem to be the silent majority. There aren't many posts in the discussion that support it, yet it's winning.

You have a good point there. I haven't really heard anyone say why we should cut all the examples and basically make this a disambiguation page.

This crowner's history has been ridiculous. Early on, we supported making this in-universe. Then, when it seemed viable that we could strip all examples, we began voting down "make in-universe," so that "exampleless" would come out on top. Now people are dropping into the thread to register how much they like the page (of course people like the page! hence all the problems with it!) and at this rate, none of the options will end up green.

[up][up] because this trope is overly broad and serve better as a list or index of /reasons/ why nerds are sexy.

Making this into a parent trope and making this into an example-free definition page are two different things. If you wanted the former, you should have made a new crowner option, and not voted for the latter.

If that's really the reason why so many people voted for "definition with no examples", then there's some serious misunderstanding going on, and a new crowner (3rd time's the charm?) is going to have to be the move of choice.

That supertrope/index would better fit under Nerds Are Sexy though, with its current definition moved elsewhere.

Nerds Are Sexy probably would be a better name for a supertrope, but that's a separate issue, one for another thread. (And possibly another place, as I'm not sure how that would fall under TRS's purview, when there's no signs of Nerds Are Sexy having problems to begin with.)

Nerds Are Sexy definitely has problems. I never see it used based on the actual definition. But yes, not exactly the point here.

Spark: The problem is that none of the proposed tropes are actually really related to this one.

I think Amy Gdala is right about the crowner. The leading option is the only one in green and if I'm not mistaken, it is slowly moving down and might soon be in red as well.

Also we forgot to add one option — make it a supertrope (parent trope). I guess it's too late to add another entry now.

Btw I still think the best way to fix this trope is make it in-universe and keep good examples.

This crowner's dead in the water; calling for no consensus. Anything else to be done here?

Well, we could at least narrow the definition while we're here. Right now as written it's just inviting bad usage.

Would it do any good? It seems to me that people just want to keep on using it for "slightly awkward characters I personally am attracted to." Just look at the results of the crowner.
