Either of those is better than the current. Not sure which I prefer.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI think I prefer the second one. Far more emphasis on the nails themselves.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. The current is a poor image. The nails are not particularly pointed, or red, for that matter (although Femme Fatalons don't have to be red, they often are either bright red or dark), and there's nothing to indicate that the woman is predatory, evil or dangerous, either, except the caption saying that she is.
I much prefer the second suggestion, but would also like to re-suggest a couple of the ones from an earlier thread that was locked/unresolved because we found that the definition needed work first:
Yzma, from The Emperor's New Groove

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Maleficent; note the striking similarity between her nails and the crow's talons (except for the color)
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.So far the Wicked Witch is my favorite, followed by Yzma, then Malificent. I don't like the Oz teaser pic because there's no way to know it's a woman since you can only see the hands.

The hand on the desk is excellent for looking sinister. All the ones with a face don't draw enough attention to the nails. I would like something that looks more like a Femme Fatale like the current. It should put the "beautiful" in "These beautiful and deadly ladies." I'm not sure if there's enough attention to the nails but the Maleficent one does look good with the elegant face and crow's talons.
Maleficient is very cool. 1.1 is I think about equal to the current. I wonder if someone could 'shop the current's nails red.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Oooh, some more good choices. Yzma is good, but that pic looks a little artifacted. Is this◊ any cleaner? Now I'm not so sure...

Check out my fanfiction! It's not just that the current pic doesn't have red nails. It's that the only information it provides about the woman is "hey, she's got long nails". It's JAFAAC and Not an illustration of the trope.
That's what the problem with the page description was that derailed the previous IP thread — the examples section was crammmed with "character has long nails"/"character has red nails"/"character has pointy nails", most of them having nothing to do with using the nails as an indication that the character was also villainous or dangerous.
Also, the wearerof Femme Fatalons doesn't have to be a Femme Fatale, or even beautiful, or, for that matter, even female, although male examples are unusual.
^ That version does look cleaner.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That means that the page will need a good example cleanup (although not here) as well as a good example as to how you do not use examples to define a trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanArrgh. I already scrubbed the examples once. But I didn't keep up with new entries, it looks like. It's almost as bad as it was last year. But yeah, not for this discussion.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.^ Male example that comes to my mind is Bela Lugosi playing Dracula. :p
I am liking the suggestions so far, I would be hard pressed to pick one, but they all seem better than current to me.
I think I favour either of the Wicked Witch images. Maleficent draws focus to her face and her familiar, rather than their claws, and Yzma just looks silly.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIf someone ugly like Yzma would make a good picture then the name and first line in the second paragraph are bad. This isn't called Long Dangerous Nails. Maybe Yzma counts as an example but when I click on something called Femme Fatalons I expect to see someone sexy (and dangerous of course).
That's kind of my issue as well. For ugly people and wicked witches, it's (generally) more like claws than nails, and meant to be scary in and of themselves. This trope is about something that's seen as pretty and fashionable, and used to signal Evil, in an Evil Is Sexy kind of way. At least as I see it.
Check out my fanfiction!"Vampira" in Plan 9 from Outer Space?
3 > 1 > 2 > 4
Good example, but the darkness doesn't do the pictures any favours.
Check out my fanfiction! Here's the pertinent part of the desrciption: ''A fashionable bit of personal accessorizing are Femme Fatalons. Often filed to a painful point and extending well past the end of the fingertip, these nails mark the woman wearing them as, at the very least, untrustworthy, and often as dangerous or predatory. "
Everything else in the description section can be removed, if it's clouding the definition. And apparently, the line about "these lovely ladies" is doing that, if it's making people think that they can only appear on beautiful women. I've removed that paragraph.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.You just removed that paragraph? The name Femme Fatalons obviously came from the Femme Fatale who is sexy. If being attractive is irrelevant then the name needs to be changed.
Lexicon speaks the truth.
Also, my objection was not that she looks ugly, but that she looks silly.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
The current pic on Femme Fatalons is adequate, but I was thinking it could do with something a little more sinister. I was thinking either this shot of the original Wicked Witch of the West, or this◊ teaser pic of the Witch from Oz The Great And Powerful.
Thoughts?
