I'm not one of them!
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. The thing I most remember about Jason Derulo is that he had a concert at my school and it lost so much money that it left the student government scrambling for funds for the rest of the year.
I'm seriously curious about the story behind that.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Going out of topic for a minute, I'd like to share Jess Glynne's "Hold My Hand". It debuted at #1 at the UK Singles Chart and dropped to #3 after spending another 2 weeks at the top.
Hope it performs well in the States soon.
She was the singer on "Rather Be", right?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Yes she was.
The "darling hold my hand" part reminds me of "Super Bass" with the vocal melody, which I really can't count as a plus.
Jess is partly responsible for the best pop song of 2014, so I'm rooting for her. Her solo singles are fantastic, I can't wait for the album this summer.
Also, I'm predicting another 4-6 weeks for SYA at the summit of the chart, before being dethroned by Hey Mama.
I'm your jazz singer, and you're my cult leader.@Odd1: That is pretty much all I know of the story as I wasn't on the student government. Unlike a lot of the events at our school (Westminster College in Salt Lake City if you are curious) it was a pay for ticket event, I think it was 20-30. From what I understand the idea was that it would be something that would either pay for itself or maybe even have the student government come out ahead. Then almost no one came. It was a hair brained scheme to begin with as our school only had ~2500 students and Jason Derulo is name talent like a bowling ball is a contraceptive. left a hole in the budget to the tune of 10's of thousands of dollars and left us with a lot fewer events for the rest of the year.

I listen to a lot of pop radio, and I haven't heard "Hey Mama" at all. Is that strange?
Also, I know I'm the only person on TV Tropes who doesn't hate Sam Smith, but I hope "Lay Me Down" starts climbing again. It deserves a chance.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. It might depend on your location. I'm in the Los Angeles area, and generally listen to the largest three top 40 stations, KISS, MY FM and AMP. 97.1 AMP has been playing it quite heavily, while KISS isn't too far behind. Haven't heard it on MY FM yet, although they probably have it playlisted.
I want Sam to move onto the next single - I don't see LMD doing much more. He can re-release Restart or Like I Can, which have way better chances of becoming legitimate hits, and already have videos ready to go.
I'm your jazz singer, and you're my cult leader.I live near Toronto. Does that help?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.@Draco: Ouch. How does a misstep like that happen?
And in all honesty, like him or not...I mean, Derulo is still a pretty popular name all things considered. I'm surprised at how small of a turnout that had.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. Not really. Being a Chris Brown clone, a lot of people tend to associate his songs with Chris Brown, especially after he stopped saying his name before each song because people were mocking him for it.
I admit that I did.

Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I never confused their music, but they're both morons anyway.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I despise both, in and out of their careers in music. Ironically I can recognize several Derulo tunes, whereas with Brown I can maybe name a few, but am completely oblivious of how they sound like. And I am glad about that.
I know about what Brown did, but what did Derulo do?
Also, Brown's recent collaboration with Tyga sets a new high for sheer odiousness.
I wonder if Jason Derulo might regret stopping the whole namedropping thing soon. It was a desperate attempt to give himself a personality, but I'd argue that it worked—I'm pretty sure even your neighbor's dog can scream "JAYSON DERUUUUUULO!" every once in a while. It's what people know him for, dammit, and now they're comparing him to Chris Brown?
At least Derulo didn't...you know...at least, as far as we know.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy.Didn't he make a big deal out of dumping Jordin Sparks?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I'm not talking about what any of them might have done in the past, I'm just talking about their utterly unlikable, uncharismatic personalities and steadily terrible release history.
Of course, these are just my opinions and if you like either of them, I can't say I get you, but I respect your choices.

Oh, I'm not a fan of either of them. I was just confused when you said that Derulo was despicable outside of his career in music, because you seemed to imply that he did something heinous in his personal life like Brown did. I don't really know what his personality is like outside of the realm of pop or if he even has one at all. As a performer, though, he definitely is unlikable in my opinion.
Call me Willy Whistle 'cause I can't speak, baby. Something in TV Tropes really drove me crazy. Some of his earlier stuff ("Ridin' Solo", "It Girl") wasn't bad, but the rest… ick.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I'm not a fan of him, but most people I know with really mainstream tastes listen to his singles just as they do with any other typical pop hits.
At least thanks to the existence of his career, we have this lovely piece of media
I'M SO HAAAPPY THE CARBONITE IS GONE
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. While we're still debating over Jason Derulo, he dropped a new song today, "Cheyenne". It's melodramatic, since he's getting emotional about how he fell in love with a girl, but I like how the riff's like a electronic of "Style". Some of y'all might not like that, but I'm a sucker for that sound:

I believe "Do What U Want" the popularizer of that kind of that galloping bass beat.
It's just that "Do What U Want" is just a lot heavier on the bass.

Yep, Bad Blood is an original, track 8 on her latest LP 1989, which I need not remind you sold 8.6 Million copies worldwide.
