What is this deal about pop females singing about their asses lately? It's bad enough that trash mainstream rappers like 2Chainz are trying to be the next Sir Mix-a-lot, but this is ridiculous.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. While I resent the idea that "mainstream" is immediately bad now, I do agree that it's very annoying. Blame Minaj, if you want.
Another green world.Didn't say that; I just said that certain mainstream rappers like 2Chainz represent everything wrong with rap these days.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Speaking about "All About that Bass"...
I like it a lot better than the original.

Finally caved in and listened to Anaconda. It was... a lot worse than I expected.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.The problem with "All About That Bass" is that, while it espouses positive body image, it largely defines that as to what a man finds attractive.
Another green world.Hell, we can probably take that even further and say it reinforces heteronormativity in popular culture, looking out for only the interests of straight girls and guys.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.^ Look at the bright side, at least it's not espousing anorexia, bulimia and walking skeletons as the epitome of what ladies should be.
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights."Speaking as someone usually concerned with that sort of thing, that's reading a bit too much into it.
Another green world.@I Love Dogs:
So it is a female "Blurred Lines" musically AND lyrically after all!
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Ehh, not really. It's got issues, but "mixed promotion of body image" is very different than "consent's a real pain in the ass, am I right?"
Musically, it's also a throw back to a very different era and style than "Blurred Lines".

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova Scotian(Also, I'm Dogs for short.)
But yes, is correct.
Another green world.@Starky:
I know, but the differing eras don't stop the two songs from sounding like each other.
If you need better perspective on it, here's a mashup:
"All About That Bass" is a bit twee and occasionally off-message, but I would still take it over pretty much every other big pop song that I heard this year, with the possible exception of some of Lorde's stuff—although I don't think "Tennis Court" actually charted, which is sad because the video reminds me of something that Björk or St. Vincent would do and not in a bad way.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.I thought it did. I'm pretty sure I heard it on the radio a bunch.
I still want "Ribs" to be a single, dammit.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I am listening to that now and... yeah, this is really good. And this girl is my sister's age. I am not unimpressed.
I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.Really? Huh. That's a shame. Hopefully that doesn't mean her 15 minutes are over.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Funny that you mention that. I just added her to Two-Hit Wonder.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. It might be too soon to do so; Lorde has a new song coming out for Mockingjay next week.
I wouldn't be surprised if it became a hit, but did any of the song from the Catching Fire soundtrack chart high on the Hot 100?
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I'm really very nervous that Lorde won't have any more hits. It would be a tremendous shame for a talent like her.
Another green world.Wouldn't be surprised though; complaining about the world's clichés and not much else can get tiresome after a while.
Trust me, I tire people out by complaining about the same stuff.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. She doesn't just complain about the world's cliches, though. For example, "Ribs" is about aging and maturing, "Tennis Court" references the idea of being a teenage celebrity, "Team" is a hometown anthem...
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.
(listens to the video)
Oh, God... It's like will.i.am attempted to make a Latin-style song...
