Double post for Flash Sentry short. There was also a sneak peak today, I didn't see all of it but there was a new song. Only a matter of time before its uploaded.

Well, they certainly gave Flash a bit of an ego which I actually don't mind cuz he had some pretty good lines ("Oh, I don't know. Ask your "spirit guide"!"). I do hope that they don't go all they way though cuz I did like his Nice Guy persona too. I just want to see him actually matter rather than just be a human hug pillow.

"Love in a Flash"? Jesus Christ, what a fucking dweeb.

The preview basically established the set up for the movie. The Friendship Games itself, and Sunset trying to figure out how to keep a lid on all the magic stuff after Dash ponies up at a pep rally. The song was okay, but my personal favorite was Pinkie and Flash heckling from the audience.

It's probably just a rerun of today's special, which was just the first four shorts and the ten-minute sneak peak of Friendship Games.

So it's definiely confirmed that they're going with the "any activity that involves friendship/or the human's element of harmony activates magic" idea? Rainbow's whole song was about loyalty. Also does anyone know who that pink haired girl is? Is she a human version of an established character. She got an awful lot of camera focus for an extra.

Pretty sure its no one we've seen before, they probably designed a cute baton holder just for this sequence. The likes of Vinyl Scratch and Octavia started life like that as well, remember.

Actually, she kinda looks like Sour Sweet, Twilight's Shadowbolt Archer partner, except with no freckles and solid pink hair. Is there a trope for the "two-balls-of-hair" hairstyle thing? I feel like there should be.

Watching Equestria Girls and I'm going to assume Sunset wins the dances by default after humiliating the competition? Cause seriously who would vote for her? Everyone in the school fears/hates her they could easily vote for say Derpy out of spite. What's she going to do? Make their lives more miserable? She's just one person (Snips & Snails are pretty much a non-concern) they could easily gang up on her.

Plus the whole question of where she's been living and who her caretakers are because the thing that makes an Alpha Bitch a threat (if only on a Sitcom Arch-Nemesis level) is when they're also a Rich Bitch / Daddy's Girl with connections and can avoid retribution. Susnet doesn't have that.

She can't be blackmailing anyone. Not when they all jumped on Twilight's bandwagon easily enough.

@Ryhme: Yeah, that was kind of odd. It definitely wasn't Roseluck, but I don't think she's got a pony equivalent. She kinda reminded me of Sour Sweet, but it couldn't be her either, unless she has some weirdly elaborate disguise.

So if the girls pony up when they exemplify their element, how does Sunset pony up? I remember Megan McCarthy saying she felt Sunset would be empathy if she had an element. I'm wondering if that means Sunset will have to talk down Twilight when she transforms into Midnight Sparkle.

According to the novelization, which are based on early versions of the script, that's pretty much the case. I think it implied that she blackmailed Rarity into dropping out of the Spring Fling competition.

Flash and a movie sneak peak. Nice birthday present. It makes sense for him to have a bit of an ego with naming his band "Flash Drive", the way the sirens affected him and his rivalry with Trixie.

Yeah, that definitely added a bit more context to his behavior in "Rainbow Rocks". The fact that there was a music showcase/battle the bands made it easy for his ego to get overblown by the Dazzlings' spell.

You know if the "Magic of Friendship" was so important why didn't Celestia make that the first lesson she taught Twilight and Sunset? Twilight was a closed off bookworm who needed to be ordered to interact with others and probably wouldn't have made friends if Nightmare Moon hadn't happen and Sunset…yeah.

Personality wise one's a worry wart and the other's an egomaniac. Though I think this has less to do with Celestia's teaching methods and more about her status as the ruler of Equestria. Twilight grew to fret disappointing such an important figure and Sunset let her position go to her head.

I imagine because telling Twilight or Sunset that friendship was a power source would mean they would seek it out for the sake of power rather than the sake of friendship itself. Similar to how Celestia didn't spell out that making friends with the rest of the Mane 6 would be crucial to beating Nightmare Moon.

Watching Twilight fumble her way through the problem of the week is the most entertainment Celestia has had in centuries. She can't make things too easy for her.

Gotta love how non-chalant CHS is in regards to magic. They get mind controlled every other week, see the human 6 pony up every other day, and their response amounts to "Cool. Just don't tell anybody."

Speaking of do the Elements/Harmony/Rainbow/Friendship Power have a sense of Irony?

Nightmare Moon sealed away in the symbol of her power (The Moon). She wanted "Eternal Night"? Well she got it (she's on the moon so from her perspective it is always night).

Discord a creature of discord and chaos trapped in stone never able to move.

Sunset Shimmer a self-righteous alpha bitch who saw herself as the wronged party. She claimed to "not be a monster" only for the Element go Magic to turn her into one and rip all her self-delusions away till only a broken girl was left.

The Dazzlings who relied on their gems and singing for everything had their gems destroyed and were made tone deaf. They're pretty much nothing without them.

And then there's Tirek, ho wanted to get all the power in Equestria and was targeting the princesses, only to be defeated by a greater power and by one of those princesses (who was holding the other three's powers at the time) Chrysalis is also another case of Death by Irony, as a being who feeds on love, she was defeated by Love itself, and Starlight Glimmer might have also gotten this either at the finale of the current season or the end of its premiere, what with everypony in the town she controlled turning on her

Maybe Starlight Glimmer's punishment will be losing her Cutie Mark?

BTW I'm actually having trouble watching Rainbow Rocks. It's just I hate plots that have nearly everyone being jerks. If its not the Rainbooms getting under each other's skins. Its the rest of CHS being jerks to one another (yes they're under mind-control, but still…it just reminds me of the Anon-A-Miss comic...), and of course there are the Dazzlings who are the cause of the situation in the first place.

It just makes me want to punch something.

I also just want to give Sunset and Twilight each a hug.

Pretty much this. For all that the writing and character building are a lot tighter than the first one's, and the songs are pretty great, I've never felt any desire to rewatch RR.

There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.

I hope Friendship Games is more watchable. Or re-watchable as the case may be.
