I think that these pages exist because of the strong overlap between various works in the Disney Animated Canon.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSuch as?
Intra-company crossovers? Characters guest appearing in episodes of Animated Movie: The Animated Series?
I must be cruel, but to be kind That bad may begin, and worse be left behindThe only cases where that happens (and there are very few), have their own character sheets. There's not really any Disney crossover movie that is unique. Characters sometimes make cameos, with the exception probably being Kingdom Hearts, but then they have their own stories and tropes and they would belong there, not here.
All of those pages are just duplicates of other ones.
I tend to agree. It seems pretty redundant to have extra character pages that only duplicate entries on other character pages. They should just stay on the character sheets for their respective films.
The main Disney Princess page is fine, but it doesn't need its own character sheet.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Well, at least with Disney Princess, it has its own material. There are movies, music, manga, a television show, and oh my god so much merchandise. Some material relating to them is Disney Princess specific, and a lot of the character sheet relates to said merchandise. Still, much of it is redundant.
Still. There's no Disney Heroes (and so on) material or anything similar to it. They don't interact or appear together in anything but very occasional cameos in some Disney shows. There's nothing that can be said about them together that isn't a repeat about them apart.

So, merge all these pages over to the individual character pages.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI don't really see why the occasional guest appearance in spinoff media would require some manner of "united" character sheets. Or else we'd require something like this for every company that made a significant amount of media.
Yeah, merge or redirect.
whateverDoes it need a crowner? I'm still of the opinion Disney Princess has its own merits, but perhaps there should be a crowner to determine whether it stays or not.
Yes, but please make sure that all the material here is on the other pages first.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHm...how would I go about linking them all to this one page? I didn't know you could make one crowner that spans multiple pages?
Franchise.Disney Princess is a separate work page we should not be making decisions here regarding that work page or its subpage unless we want to start a TRS thread just for that.
Lets stick to the topic, which is Characters.Disney Animated Canon.
Does it serve a purpose that does not merely duplicate work specific character pages?
Upon first examination, I would say that it does not.
It might possibly play a role as an index of character pages for works in the Disney Animated Canon, but at the moment even though it lists these pages, it does not index them.

That's like a five-second fix, Catbert. In fact, *tappity tappity tap* done.
EDIT: Basically, it looked to me like the guy had wanted to make an index but wasn't sure how to do it.

I know how to do stuff on this wiki. I just didn't want to take unilateral action without a consensus from the thread. Not that I think anyone will mind.
Getting to the original question:
Do the following pages serve a useful purpose or do they needlessly duplicate the character pages for individual movies?
I would say they are pointless duplicates.

Is it alright if I add an option for turning these pages into indexes?
Yes, if you have some pages to be indexed there in mind.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, actually now that I think about it that does not make any sense, since most of the characters listed would be on other character pages and not on pages in and of themselves. Not like indexing a bunch of character pages for disney works is going to accomplish anything.
Sorry!
Taking record:
5 (yeas:5 nays:0)
Transfer any unique information to the character pages for individual works, and then cut the subpages.
I'm pretty sure five votes isn't enough for consensus.
Which is why they were just taking record. If done a few times, that helps determine when a crowner is stable and how vote swings may be caused by future arguments and so on.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.I just finished adding all of Gaston's examples.

Can we call it?
Call it
Alright, finished moving things over, except for a few that only had one character to list—I'm not sure what to do with those?
Crown Description:
The following subpages duplicate characters already on the pages for individual works. Characters.Disney Princess is not an issue because it is in fact a subpage for Franchise.Disney Princess.
For some reason, the Disney Animated Canon work page has been gaining more and more character sheets. We have Disney Heroines, Disney Heroes, and Disney Villains (which has been split into four separate subpages).
I'm not exactly sure why they exist, since they are simply duplicates of the original movie's character sheets. Some of the trope lists are simply lifted whole-sale from them, in fact. There really should only be one, and I don't see any reason to cut the movie's character sheets, since I don't see many people intuitively finding this page. Not only that, but it almost makes making new pages that have the more minor characters in these movies simply duplicates.
Unlike Disney Princess, which is a franchise with its own material and the weight of Canada in merchandise, these are just duplicate lists. I'm not sure why we have one for it, because we don't really have character lists for any other studio, animated or otherwise.
I suggest transplanting the lists onto their individual movie's character sheets. The page as it exists probably really only benefits long-term tropers looking for it, not casual readers.
