I have a number of ... for beginners books. I was intruduced to them by my English teacher in the mid 80s. They use what we call now 'graphic novel' to take readers through complex philosophies. Didn't realise you could still get them.

A thriller about a businesswoman learning of a suicide bombing plot on her train. Set on the titular 4:50 train from Paddington, she has to alert the authorities and possibly stop the bombing from occurring on the dense train. She only has 2 hours to do so.

Moonage Daydream

A very very very very very very very... VERY confusing anime about a group of teenagers who find themselves constantly travelling to a mysterious dream world every night where they become warriors trying to save a distant world from its tyrannical overlord. During the day, it's a slice of life drama with a ton of scenes devoted to dialogue where the characters worry that their lives are the fiction, and their lives as warriors are the true reality. Naturally, the series topped things off with a Gainax Ending.

Murder Of A Cat

Exploring the Homicidal Triad in the form of a 13-episode anime series about a budding young psychopath, culminating in him getting arrested on the way to his first real murder. Played for comedy.

UQ Holder

A Canadian-based animated series about a boy who is given the task of protecting a locked book containing the secrets to life's most difficult problems (the "Holder of Unanswered Questions," aka "UQ Holder"). Considered to be a failed Western rip-off of Death Note, even though the series was different in tone and overall plot structure.

American Psycho

a remake of the movie psycho, this time taking place in pre colonial america, with an all Native American cast, with the ending taking place as the colonists make their first contact shortly after the killer is stopped
