What a strange choice for Infinity. I get that it's cause of the theme park having some Avatar stuff, but still strange.

I would imagine that they have A LOT of concept art for potential figures and they just figure out what ones would work/not work later on. That's typically what the concept art phase is all about. You sketch out a random ass idea and see if its in the right direction you want to be going in.

I would not be in the slightest shocked to hear that all of the Disney Princesses and many of the Disney Heroes (Hercules, Quasimoto, Prince Philip) and other characters had been sketched out just to see what they could make of them.

Well maybe I'll have time to make at least one of the Toy Boxes I had planned before September. Getting that email was really kind of depressing.

If I read correctly somewhere talking about this, I think you can still be able to get the updates/patches for the game in case you're like me and haven't gotten the Finding Dory Play Set and Nemo yet.

So...uh...I dunno if it's worth bumping this thread after this long (much less double-posting) but apparently, allegedly, potentially, there are some complete and boxed Peter Pan figures floating around places:

Now of course, you can't play as Peter Pan in game (unless Disney miraculously allows one last patch to be put in), but still the fact that there are possibly (emphasis on possibly) actual Peter Pan figures out there is mind-blowing. Makes me want to go out and search for one....

Well the only other news I'm waiting for is "Disney Infinity revived" which is probably not gonna happen. So your bump is OK.

I'm sure you all have long since stopped caring at this point, but they did just reveal what Belle and the Beast would have looked like in Infinity.

So yes, they would have been based on the upcoming live-action remake, but they still look pretty nice. I probably still would have bought them.

'Scuse me while I go cry in the corner now.

I really don't want to bump this old thread again, but this is interesting as it pertains to the unreleased Premium figures for Infinity.

Namely, some prototypical Premium Hulk figures actually exist:

According to this video, the Premium figures don't appear to be 12-inches tall as was rumored, only a little bit taller than a soda can (but still much bigger than standard Infinity figures) and the prototypical Hulk figure seen here has an incomplete paint-job. It seems that the uploader of this video, Disney Dan, has actually ordered one and plans to show it off in a future video.

I know that you all have probably stopped caring at this point, but I felt that this was worth sharing as it provides some insight as to how the Premium figures (which have a lot of speculation attached to them) would have actually looked (and showing how big they would have actually been) had the franchise not been cancelled.

The figure designs for the Rogue One characters are leaking. We now know what Baze Malbus' figure would have looked like.

I expect that the designs for rest of the Rogue One figures (apparently even K2 had one) will be turning up over the next few weeks, so this thread might get bumped a few times.

This interview with the former producer at Disney Interactive reveals some interesting tidbits:

Some notable things mentioned in the interview:

  • Alice Through the Looking Glass was considered for a Play Set in 3.0, but was scrapped in favor of giving one to Finding Dory instead.
  • Clu did almost become playable. In fact, he was planned to be included with Sam and Quorra in 2.0. The backlash over Sam and Quorra being PC exclusive in 2.0 put the kibosh on getting Clu, however.
  • They experimented with many different Revenue-Enhancing Devices for 1.0 before settling on the Crystal figures. One of the designs specifically mentioned in the interview were black-and-white versions of certain characters (i.e. Steamboat Willie)
  • They did actually consider adding Cinderella to the game, but they couldn't come up with a moveset for her that made sense. No word on whether she would have been based on the 2015 live-action film or the original 1950 film.
  • They thought about having 3D printed custom figures (either in the form of alternate poses for existing characters or custom Townspeople ala the townsperson of MightyGitis) for the game before Skylanders did for Imaginators. Scrapped because the figures would have been of much lower quality (and thus more fragile) than the standard figures. (Kind of a bummer all the same. I would have liked having a Townsperson version of myself to put in my room.)

Kinda makes you wonder if this has increased the chances of Infinity returning at all. I know they aren't working on bring Infinity back right now, but still, with Avalanche back in business with most of its previous staff (and still willing to work with Disney), I wonder if they could revive Infinity now if they wanted to. (Of course, I could just be being overly hopeful, but still...)

It certainly doesn't hurt that the demand for Infinity's return is still there (even if it isn't as evident here on Tvtropes) and there's a potential new platform it could be on coming soon...

...I was actually thinking of the possibility that they could bring back Infinity.

But it was one of those "you don't think this could mean..." thoughts, you know?

Although, I can't help but wonder if this "WB Games doing licensed Disney games" partnership thing does anything to the likelihood of seeing Marvel and Star Wars characters in LEGO Dimensions...

So...someone did some things...

Apparently, Moana content and a playable White Tiger is somewhere in the files of the Gold Edition PC version.

Big time necro-post, but I thought it'd be interesting to share this: Actual in-game footage of Maui in the missing Moana play-set.

Those water effects look awesome, just saying.

Peter Pan footage exists. And apparently a whole bunch of figures exist? Seriously? It sucks that they didn't release at least Peter as a send-off to the series. That's a lot of money wasted on figures.

Yeah, I saw that. (Only reason I didn't post about it was because I've necro'd this thread so many times already.)

I still maintain that they should have ended on Peter Pan as well (if not the Moana Play Set). Given how far into development he was (to the point of having a ton of already made figures), it would have made more sense than bringing everything to a screeching halt the minute the news came out that the franchise was done and wasting all that effort.
