Seeing as the year is almost over, I seemed like a good time to start this thread.

So how 'bout it? What were your favorite anime that came out this year, or which anime of Manga (that didn't necessarily come out this year) that you picked up this year?

Even if there were such anime as Fate, Nise, or Kokoro Connect, somehow I claim best animes of 2012 were Highschool boys and Jinrui.

Hard choice. With the many manga I read - both good and mediocre - picking out a few particularly good ones is hard.

Anime though, that's easier. Wasn't the Haruhi movie this year?

[up]That's was two years ago I think.

My personal favorite this year was Tsuritama.

High School Boys.

Seriously though, Fate/Zero. Unless Little Busters turns out to be a good adaptation which is still unclear.

I'm rather unsatisfied with Little Busters myself. As for this year's anime that I've really enjoyed I find it hard to even remember what show aired when.

[up][up] "Unlikely" I think you mean.

This year has really been uninspiring. Out of all the anime from the Winter 2012 Anime, Spring 2012 Anime, Summer 2012 Anime and Fall 2012 Anime pages...

Well, even something like Nisemonogatari or Chuunibyou Demo Koi Ga Shitai are good contenders, and that's saying something.

Hyouka I thought was well decently executed, but it's just not a stand-out work.

That Code Geass OVA I had high hopes for, but it turns out it's just not Code Geass without the characters, music, plots and Geass we saw from Code Geass.

There was another show I was really looking forward to that aired into this year. But it turned out... It can go rot in the heart of a black star. After this year I hope to never mention it again.

Fate Zero was certainly good looking. Certainly worth watching. Certainly well made, but it won't be topping my list mostly because of my personal dislike for dark stories.

Shin Sekai Yori really could top the list with an interesting dark and yet enjoyable trip into a collapsed, controlled, distopic and primitive world of future Earth. Really good atmosphere. Doesn't want to rush things. Doesn't appear to be outright pandering of any kind. But I would have to know how it ends before calling that.

I have to say Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita is probably the one that will stick with me the longest for portraying reality warping tiny chibi childlike gods who are extremely sociopathic and dangerous while at the same time cute and amusing. It also features a snarky pink haired girl and some mindscrewfridgehorrorblackcomedysatire. So yeah, it's weird.

Honourable mention to Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. It's a shoujo romance, but I really wouldn't mind more like that.

Well, there are a couple of things I look forward to next year, so here's hoping they add sufficient character to 2013.

Ooh, ooh, let me guess. Sword Art Online? Total Eclipse?

As for me, the only works I actually remember liking are Fate Zero and Kokoro Connect, though admittedly, I haven't watched that many of the 2012 anime (stopped Hyouka in the middle and only just started watching K).

- Hyouka - Uchuu Kyoudai

True, this year is really uninspiring, there are good anime, but no great anime.

If the latest Natsume anime season came out in 2012, I'm putting my vote for it. If it came out in 2011, I'm still putting my vote for it.

The same goes for Chihayafuru and Kuragehime - can't remember if these came out in 2012 or in 2011.

The only anime left on my "cannot NOT watch it" list are Toriko and Tonari.

Magi, I think is more than OK, but it's the type wherein I am more than happy to wait until it catches up to the manga, if it ever catches up to the manga.

Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita is the best, hands down. Though I enjoyed a lot of the shows this year.

The things I've really enjoyed so far were Nisemonogatari, Fate Zero and Shin Sekai Yori. Between those three I'll say so far Shin Sekai Yori seems the best.

I didn't watch much, but I found Nisemonogatari, Fate Zero and Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita to be quite good.

Hrm. Based on post 4 of this thread (which was correct), my answer for the best anime I saw this year would have to be... Would Persona 4 count? The anime for that went from late last year to early this year.

If Persona 4 qualifies, then YES, I would vote for it.
