Needs Help: Decoy Protagonist

Spoiler image. This was pulled a few years ago, but it's back. Plus, it's JAFAAC.

Side note: I thought we had a a "Spoiler" reason, but I guess not.

Well, I imagine Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty's plot twist is It Was His Sled territory now. Maybe if we could encapsulate that in image form somehow... not sure how to do that best, though.

Never played any of those games, so it's news to me.

I hadn't for a good while, either, but the whole hullabaloo over it was pretty difficult to miss.

I think that could work just fine, if we can find good pictures of them of course.

The trope itself is spoilerish. Plus, it's not necessarily indicative of Kamina's death. I think it's fine.

Not much of a spoiler. That work page description says the little boy is the protagonist.

I think it is better than nothing. More like a weak JAFAAC where the image and caption work together, than a really terrible can't-get-it-unless-you-know-the-work JAFAAC.

As an image, I don't think it either adds or detracts from the page. However, that it's even "not much of a spoiler" makes it a negative, and shouldn't be on the page.

Spoiler images are a no-go. Regardless of quality. And that would qualify as a spoiler image.

Could someone who is familiar with the work explain why it is a spoiler? By "not much of" I meant "not really at all".

Kamina (the guy in the cape) is the impetus behind every major action in the series, inspiring Simon (the little guy) to Fall Into the Cockpit, fight the bad guys, all that. He's the first one who thought to Gundamjack the enemy mechs, his love interest is the main girl, so on and so forth. He's also by far the fan favorite for the entire series, and every meme from the series (and there are many) originated from him. He dies at the end of episode 8 of a 26 episode series.

The fact that the boy is the actual protagonist is mentioned in the trope description (and probably on the retail packaging of the work...), and the image doesn't say anything about death. I don't see it.

Speaking as someone who has pretty much no acquaintance with the series other than what has been mentioned on TV Tropes, I'm pretty sure it's not a spoiler so much as You Should Know This Already.

Clock is set.

One of two reasons I know about it is that I stopped caring about spoilers for that series at the time I decided I'd never watch it. The other is that it's sometimes brought up in discussions like these without people spoiler-hiding it.

There's no spoilage in that image at all. It's better than nothing.

Vote to keep until better image suggested.

It being on the page at all as an image is a spoiler. You can get to this page without seeing any spoilers in the examples, but you can't really avoid seeing the image.

I say keep until better, that does not qualify as a spoiler imo.

Honestly, I do not care how cool Kamina is; the anime starts out narrated by Simon, anyone who is spoiled by being told Simon is the main chara is an idiot.

1. Kamina is dead the majority of the series.
2. Nothing about the image says he dies. Just that he's not the actual protagonist.
3. There are lots of ways of making a Decoy Protagonist. Not all of them involve death. Sometimes it's just importance demotion.

It's not a spoiler. It's just an example. It says, there is a shift in focus, someway, somehow.

I agree this doesn't spoil his death. Now, if anyone's worried about spoiling who the main character is...I don't think it's a real concern.

I agree with the all of the above. The current pic is only spoiling who the main protagonist is, I'd call that at most a mild spoiler, and better than no pic at all.
