The picture looks really dark, so you can't really see who it even is, which makes it even less demonstrative, even if you are familiar with the work in question. I really don't see anything evil about him.

How about a pic of Gendo punting a puppy or something?

It is supposed to look evil. Familiarity with source is only a bonus.

You disagree, evidently, but it certainly looks more evil than a hypothetical image :)

Without a concrete suggestion, I'm going to have to agree with Rodney. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

+1 for Keep Until Better Image Suggested. The only character I can think of off the top of my head that could work more is Mordecai from Lackadaisy, but finding a good pic could be problematic.

EDIT: Okay, here's some suggestions for Mordecai:

• In this comic, the panels with the cat yelling and pleading and Mordecai with the ax, with the speech bubbles at the bottom cropped away.
• In this comic, second row, second panel.

I don't think the cat works. He doesn't look evil.

The current, on the other hand, does illustrate the trope pretty well the way I see it. I distinctly remember thinking of the trope before I recognised who it was the first time I saw it, so for me it works even if you don't know who it is.

Current is okay. Mordecai from here first of all (bottom right, with bloodstained axe), here (first inset on second row; would need cropping around his tail and all), or possibly the second row here might be better.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

Keep. We don't need to make the point with a blood-stained sledgehammer. He already looks plenty evil just form the lighting and his expression. Especially since the way it's framed, you sort of focus on his glasses, and his almost dead-looking eyes.

Somewhat off-topic, but I keep seeing Daniel Radcliffe in the current image (which is fine by me, btw), instead of the actual actor of Elijah Wood.

The guy in the current picture just looks kind of sad. No expression on his face at all. It'd be really easy to find a guy with glasses and a Slasher Smile or a Psychotic Smirk.

I completely disagree, but the fact that you interpreted it that way is the main reason why I suggested the Mordecai pics, as someone with glasses actually doing something violent, especially if it's coupled with a flat affect like in my first suggestion, is a more clear illustration.

Should we have a crowner? Looks like we have a lot of suggestions.

I think some editing needs to be done on a few of the suggestions before we get to that point.

I like current fine, but I tend to think of the whole creepy reflected ligt thing when I think of this trope, so something along that line would be nice.

This is another pic of Kevin from Sin City with the reflected light. It would be better at a larger size and cropped more closly to him, but it is all I can find atm.
