Behold: An angry Canadian man saying angry things.

This guy is hilarious. He tears the shit out of bad music, he comments on the world, and some of the jokes he makes are freaking amazing. He steers towards dark humor most of the time, and he definitely aims to shock. EG: His podcast about gay marriage. He outright says he is opposed to gay marriage... because marriage in any form is a crock, and he feels "God", if he exists, most likely does not care about a ritual humans made up. He shocks you with that initial statement, then he breaks the tension with that one angry comment and everything's awesome.

Give the guy a look on youtube as well, if you can.

Eh. From the bits I've listened to he doesn't really set himself apart much from all the other Generic Angry Rebels on the internet.

Sure, his act isn't original or anything, but at least he doesn't feel the need to put emphasis on one single point of something just to write a show on it. That's why I tend to enjoy his shows, rather than The Spoony Experiment or other angry-internet-guy show: This guy will do a show, he might repeat a point or 2 but he'll move on the next show. Spoony spends at least half of one of his multi-part reviews, at LEAST, bitching about the same gameplay factor he dislikes (Junctioning), and a lot of angry internet guys seem to follow the same trend.

I'm not saying Buckley is the most original angry internet guy on the internet, I'm saying he's the most entertaining I've come across. He tears something apart with wit and dark humour, instead of crying like an idiot about how bad something he dislikes is to prove his point.

So, uhh... This has a trope page and it looks like it has for a good while, as there's content there that isn't covered by the edit history.

One such piece of content on the page is a response from Buckley to the trope "Loser Protagonist". I know, he's just a guy, nothing huge - but I nearly lost my shit when I read it. It's a simple compliment about the page, thanking the creator because it made him laugh, and I acted like a dog that had been buried alive in a pinewood coffin. There's probably a lesson here about laughing about obsessive fans before acting just like one.

In other news, he recently put up an old rant from his website on his Youtube channel. It's about Count Chocula, and it is as entertaining as it is hunger-inducing (I never knew about Cookie Crisp until I heard this. Why.).

I am very ambivalent about A Dose of Buckley. On one hand, it is genuinely hilarious, and occassionally insightful. But... I'll be damned if every time I watch an episode it doesn't depress the hell out of me.

[up][up][up] Well, he has shown his face in 3 videos.

Though, to be honest, A Dose of Buckley reminds me more of Mues Productions than Todd in the Shadows.

Eh, he's honestly not that funny but I do enjoy listening to some of his rants about music. Normally helps me find some new ironically enjoyable crap, like 2Chainz and Juicy J.

Because I choose to.

Buckley's released a 6 episode series of rants that runs for about an hour - they're called Nerd Rants, and they're going for $2.50 US for the whole pack on his Bandcamp. If you like his free stuff, please consider dropping whatever pocket change you have on this - I know I will when I set up my paypal account.

[up][up]While I still find his rants funny, I agree he's become a bit more of an asshole lately it seems. His video about Cory Monteith was a bit too much, but opposing views on drug addiction is almost as unchangeable as opposing views on politics. Just something you shouldn't bother arguing about.

yea, and treat his fans like assholes.mallard, i know you are a HUMONGOUS fan of him but do you find something off about him? being a hypocrite? hating/trolling his fans for being dumb even though some of the views are smart?

I actually agreed with some of the stuff he said in the Monteith video, but yeah, he is getting kind of... eh... I think he's taking stuff too personally.

Plus, I can barely handle listening to his three minute stuff. An hour would just be way too fucking much.

I have noticed some hypocrisy in his statements - He says in one of his "Top Ten Worst Songs" list that Rihanna should act like a role model because, like it or not, she is one - then in a later video he says that athletes and celebrities should not be role models and parents who get away with letting their kids idolize celebrities should be better parents.

I reckon he's on the fence about both interpretations - and really, you can believe in both to some extent. And for the most part, he writes his scripts to be entertaining. I don't really care, as long as I'm getting my laughs.

(I will say his old videos about women are very uncomfortable to watch.)

And what does being a HUMONGOUS fan have to do with anything? I'm definitely biased in Buckley's favor, but if he's gone too far on a topic or gone back on an opinion, I'll generally not be pleased with his bullshit. Humongous fan doesn't necessarily mean drooling white-knight moron.

...And when does he treat his fans undeservingly like assholes? If someone, fan or not, is a stupid dickbucket on a Buckley video, they damn well deserve to be called out on it. If you're a popular influence, and something you say persuades a fan of yours to say something stupid and/or the complete opposite of what you said in support of your ideals, you might be a bit pissed off too. And even then, he only treats the assholes LIKE assholes - if you have a decent opinion, something to add maybe, and are not a raging dickhole trying to stir up a fight, then you're safe. If I'm wrong and you have evidence on that locked tumblr page, I'd love a password to check it out.

(speaking of hypocritical, it does look like I became a bit of a white-knight here.)

"yea, and treat his fans like assholes.mallard, i know you are a HUMONGOUS fan of him but do you find something off about him? being a hypocrite? hating/trolling his fans for being dumb even though some of the views are smart?"

This is very hypocritical. At no point do I just randomly attack fans, which is what you're making it sound like I do. People who claim to be my fans will say stupid things like "this wasn't your best" or "stick to Musical Autopsies", and I reply to them. Of course every video won't be my best, how can it be? Everyone has a different opinion of what my best video is, and there's no way I'll top it every time. It's simply impossible. And as for "stick to Musical Autopsies", it's such a greedy thing to say, "do more of the segment I want, and stop doing everything else". Other comments are also made that don't fall under "constructive criticism". I'm only an asshole to people who deserve it. At no point has anyone ever said "hey man, thanks for taking time out of your day to entertain us", and I replied with "fuck you". That has NEVER happened.

EDIT: I should explain, the reason I find this hypocritical, so people are allowed to talk shit about me, but when I talk shit about them, I'm being an asshole to my "fans"? I get that fans are allowed to be critical in some ways, but if someone's just a dick to me, they're not my fan, they're some prick who's just there to start shit.

I can see how someone might find this conflicting (it wouldn't be "hypocritical", the word escapes me as I write this, but "conflicting" would be better...), but allow me to explain:

Just because I say that athletes and celebrities shouldn't be role models, that doesn't make it so. Society has deemed otherwise. Therefore, Rihanna IS a role model to kids, and by working with Chris Brown and taking him back, it tells young girls that it's ok to take back someone who is abusive, despite the fact that they've publicly shown no signs that they've changed their behavior (Chris Brown berates women on Twitter and acts like an asshole in general). Rihanna SHOULDN'T BE a role model (as I spoke about in the other video you're referring to), young girls should think for themselves and have role models such as their parents or other people that are actually in their lives... but they don't.

EDIT: Contradicting! That's the word I was looking for.

This is an unexpected development to say the least. Thanks for stopping in, I really enjoy your videos.

No problem. Feel free to find me and message me on Facebook or Twitter to verify this is me if you'd like.

Also, about my tropes page, if someone could edit it to say "Ten Worst Songs" instead of "Top Ten", that drives me crazy. You can't have a "Top Ten Worst ___" list, it's the "Bottom Ten" if anything (but the series is just called "Ten Worst Songs of 20xx). Also another thing that is incorrect, it says that the Overture plays at the end of Musical Autopsy, it plays at the end of "Advice No One Asked For". I'd change it myself, but I feel like editing your own Wiki (or other fan-made pages) is kind of self-serving (not sure asking other people to do it for you is any better, but... here we are).

By the way, for evidence of how I treat my fans, check out my Facebook page. I answer a shitload of positive comments and questions on a pretty regular basis. I also sometimes host Q&As on Twitter, and answer e-mails and messages as often as I can. I'm actually very accessible, moreso than most other "YouTubers" with the amount of subscribers I have. I shouldn't have to defend myself about this, but I believe I've never been an asshole to anyone who didn't deserve it, and people are welcome to prove me wrong.

If that's an imposter, he's a dedicated one to get the actual Buckley in on it and "Verify its him" on Facebook and Twitter. Those fake Twitter profiles could learn something from him.
