Wait, why is that crowner suggesting to rename this? This trope is being shoehorned into an a inappropriate page. We need to turn this into a trope about literal Cannibal Tribes (or redirect it to an appropriate page) and move off the subgenre to its own page, not keep the genre shoehorned into this page.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWhat I was thinking is that the first thing to do is come up with a new name for the trope currently described on Cannibal Tribe (i.e., the genre) after which we can decide what to do with the name Cannibal Tribe and its wicks. Apologies if I've gone about it the wrong way.
We seemed to already have unanimous consensus that the genre needs a new name, and that we're going to be transplanting an actual trope into Cannibal Tribe. A crowner is only really required if there are arguments on both sides. Frankly, I think we should jump straight to the alternative names crowner for the genre.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. You really need to write in the "at issue" box exacty what we're voting on, otherwise people get confused.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerDone. Can you tell I haven't done this before?
Heh, even people who've done it forget it!
Crowner hooked.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI downvoted Cannibal Film until I get confirmation that this is a strictly film trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's even more specific than that, it's a subgenre of Exploitation Film. The broader trope the genre uses is Captured by Cannibals, which is where examples from any other media using a similar setup can go.
And there is no such thing as Cannibal Book?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIf it fits all the specifications set down on that page (graphic violence, pornographic content, animal abuse etc), I suppose there could be, in the way that there are "Film Noir" books, but nobody seems to have put forward any examples. There was a brief spate of films like this, which seems to have died out, and as far as we know there aren't any books or comics or TV shows that have dredged it up. It seems bizarre to proclaim it to be a wider genre on the basis that one theoretically could ape the style in a graphic novel.
Just to remind people, Cannibal Film is what The Other Wiki calls it. I think that's a pretty good reason to use the same name. (We'll even be able to put it on the We Are Not Alone Index.)

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Supporting Cannibal Film.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerBump for more votes, although I think the trend is already pretty clear. :)
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Small genre, few votes. But there are no objections at all to the top name, so I don't think calling it would be objectionable.
Check out my fanfiction!11-0 for the top candidate, and everything else in the red is starting to look pretty convincing!
We shouldn't be waiting on this, though. What's the status of the sandbox for the trope we're going to transplant? Do we still need to go get the examples from Captured by Cannibals that don't involve actual capture? Or was that already done?
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.I think I got them all, someone else might want to double-check though.
Ok, what about misuse from the current page? The first post alone mentions several examples that should presumably be added to Sandbox.Cannibal Tribe.
I can jump in and help out if needed, but I'm in the middle of a couple of other things right now.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Added a few more examples from the wicks
Calling crowner:
- The Exploitation Film type will be called Cannibal Film.
- Cannibal Tribe will be the name of the trope described in Sandbox.Cannibal Tribe.
Sort the wicks accordingly.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerOk, I did the basic transplant, and set up the indexes properly. Will start going through the wicks probably tomorrow. (Anyone who wants to contribute in the mean time is, of course, welcome to do so.)
eta: also waiting on a mod to move the discussion page.

Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Changed any references to the movie genre to Cannibal Film and cases of Captured by Cannibals and Cannibal Clan to those tropes.
Looks good to me. All the wicks I checked seemed correct. Could probably stand to have the examples sorted by medium, and some cross-wicking may be in order, but none of that is within the purview of TRS, so I think we're done here.

Crown Description:
Cannibal Tribe is specifically about a genre of exploitation film, but is being heavily misused to refer to any appearance of cannibals. The first step is to decide on a new name to move the film genre to.
Without looking, presumably some of them will be "cannibals appear but don't capture anyone", which could be moved to Cannibal Tribe; some will be "someone mentions cannibals but we never see them" which can be copied to Cannibal Tribe as a Discussed Trope, but left on CBC as well.
EDIT: Added a couple more examples from CBC to the sandbox. Still wondering whether we really need two separate tropes; leaning towards making Cannibal Tribe a disambig page.
In any case, we're getting sidetracked. First thing is to sort out Cannibal Tribe: crowner.
