For the uninitiated... A contingent of tropers (mostly from across America) holds regular get-togethers over the Interwebs on this site called Synchtube which lets individuals, such as ourselves, open and join in text-based chatrooms within typical web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, et. al.) that allow the chat participants to view YouTube videos in synchronization with everyone else present (without even needing to set up an account)... and we've decided to use said chatrooms to play cheeseball webvideos and feature-length movies found in the public domain which stretch all the way from letters B to Z, which everyone subsequently riffs on a la MST3K.
For over EIGHT years, everybody who gets involved mostly finds good enjoymentnote in calling out tropes that are recognized in the videos and stories and coming up with jokes to fling back at whatever's happening on the screen, many of which turn into various in-jokes and running gags (a Coven Glossary is kept and maintained for everyone's help and convenience HERE) to repeat in the chat.
We're always looking for new ways to better coordinate and expand our activities and are more than happy to welcome newcomers interested in joining our gatherings.

The Cars that Eat People film that's mentioned in the Attack of the Killer Whatever page image isn't even an example of the trope. Originally titled The Cars That Ate Paris (Paris, Australia—fictional town), the story is about the residents of a small community who aim to profit from plotting vehicle accidents against out-of-town visitors. It has nothing to do with sentient cars that consume human beings, but it did partly inspire elements of Death Race 2000 and the Mad Max films.
Stranger still, the movie was an early project for director Peter Weir (based on a story he had written), who would move on years later to directing Witness, Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show, and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World... and, shit, I forgot Green Card is something that exists. And he directed Harrison Ford in The Mosquito Coast, which is Ford's all-time favorite of all the movies he's ever acted in. Fuck Indiana Jones.

Oh, Ho-Oh-HOOOOOOOooooooooooooo...
Kicking off Kung Fu Friday with the usual assortment of hokey dubbing and Godfrey Ho nonsense.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, we revisit another of the 90's lamebrain video game-to-silver screen adaptations (as if somebody saw Super Mario Bros. in 1993 and thought, "Oh yeah, I could do worse.") in Double Dragon.

Here's something more entertaining than this movie ->
So this being Black History Month, I was hoping on giving us a chance to watch a more serious, thought-provoking film (like we did with Happiness last month) that explores race and related social topics—namely, Spike Lee's Get on the Bus, which, despite its greater obscurity, I personally attest is every bit as important and profound as Lee's greatest masterpiece Do the Right Thing (which everyone should also be made familiar with).
Unfortunately, that's not going to work out for us. Instead, we'll be looking forward to Spike Lee's campier musical/comedy/drama School Daze, with Laurence Fishburne, Giancarlo Esposito, Tisha Campbell, Ossie Davis, Bill Nunn, Jasmine Guy... and Samuel L. Jackson.

NOTE: This weekend, we'll be starting feature presentations at ~7:30 PM (EST) to make room for the extended runtimes of our movies, after an early, expedited pre-show.

I may not be here, since I'm going out for dinner with my sister, brothers and a few of her friends. If I don't return on time: enjoy the movie.
I was watching Two Best Friends Play, which is a great channel that needs more subscribers, but they were talking about a scene in Darkman, and after watching it I knew I had to share it.

It Makes Sense in Context... Some of it, anyway.
If I don't see you later, Quag, have a fun night.
Alright, first up we're expediting pre-show with our first look at Series 5 of Knightmare.
Then, by ~7:40 PM (EST), we begin the 80's musical/comedy/drama School Daze, a Spike Lee joint. Don't be late!

Yo, people, come on in!
We've enjoyed Hawk the Slayer () on several occasions in the past, and now it's about time we gave Krull and its distinctive blend of science-fiction and fantasy motifs its day in court. Starring Ken Marshall and featuring Liam Neeson and Robbie Coltrane in some of their earliest film appearances.

NOTE: Reminder, AGAIN, tonight's film, just like last night's begins after 7:30 PM (EST), following an early, expedited pre-show.
Hell yeah . James Horner's cheesy Robin Hood-esque soundtrack is the tits.
Barack Obama killed Antonin Scalia. Clarence Thomas, Ron Paul, and Donald Trump are next on his hit list. Alex Jones says so.
...And if that isn't a big enough concentrated dose of pure insanity for one night, already, just a little bit after 7:30 PM (EST), we'll be watching the sci-fi/fantasy cult classic Krull!
But, first, to help pass the time, we got another episode of Legends of the Hidden Temple.

Good. Let those fuckers get paranoid, maybe they'll finally start killing each other and spare us the trouble of secretly disposing of more of 'em .

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.I just got ahold of the next movie in the Paula Peril indie series of films: Paula Peril and the Serpent Cult. It's only 40 minutes, so I can see it being used as a pre-show.

Do you recall Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof when he pitted Kurt Russell in a vintage black Dodge Charger◊ in a road battle against a vintage white Dodge Challenger◊?
Tonight, feel privileged to witness that vintage Dodge Charger go up against... a short bus.◊
Think of it as Kurt Russell's "Stuntman Mike" as a (unseen) straight up child kidnapper/molester/murderer, and Zoƫ Bell as a school bus driver who gives chase (with children still on the bus) after the evil car kidnaps her daughter.
This is... Wheels of Terror.

Have I btw. ever recommended Deadlock'? German neo-western from 1970, starring Mario Adorf and Anthony Dawson. Doesn't do anything special, plot-wise; it's really just a retelling of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in a (very stylised) modern setting. But it's got a gloriously pulpy atmosphere. And a soundtrack courtesy of the one and only Can.

Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.for the mention of Can.
I've never actually listened to Can. Bad movies seem like as good a place as any to start with them, though.
Deadlock ain't a bad movie; it's actually a pretty solid one. Sure as hell is weird, though.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence.Anyone want to give me feedback on my review of Rise of the Tomb Raider before I post it on Steam? My previous review, for Axiom Verge, got positive attention. I want to make sure this review flows well and covers everything important.
You don't have to be familiar with the game to comment; just comment on things you think need to be explained better, fleshed out, or made more concise.

Alright, time for some fun with more of Captain N: The Game Master and Knightmare.
Then, at the top of the coming hour, it's a 1970's Dodge Charger up against a School Bus. Two automobiles may enter; one will leave. Find out who emerges victorious in Wheels of Terror.

I would have hoped that such a dumb premise would be done in a more fun way, but I have to say, I much preferred the killer lawnmower movie.
Also, my Rise of the Tomb Raider review is up on Steam now.

Is gud .
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. Some adult actors have to learn the hard way: Do not work with children or animals.
Nonetheless, it's a wonder the trailer still gives Jim Belushi top billing; it's the dogs who steal all the scenes he appears in. Get ready tonight for K-911.

Like in Mad Max, except the driver is the bloodbag. And, I suspect, magic; like Umbridge's torture quill.
i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, baby
