Haven't got to them yet, being reading books and you know, playing the games. But once I have time for it I'll check out a crossover of somesort from Fan Fictionic Recommendations.
Laws are made to be broken. You're next, thermodynamics.I'd recommend either Glorious Shotgun Princess or The Last Spartan, if crossovers are your thing.
"USE YOUR WORDS NOT THE FABRIC OF THE UNIVERSE" ''memyselfand I 2"The Last Spartan is good, but I do have a few problems with it. Don't get me wrong. It has a characterization of Master Chief that is Better Than Canon. The problem with The Last Spartan is that it's so implausible.
First off, it's highly unlikely that Forward Unto Dawn would have the power to keep Master Chief alive for so long, and it's also highly implausible that Cortana wouldn't go rampant. Secondly, unless I missed something, they still have plasma weapons. Kinetic Barriers are useless against energy weapons, so why isn't everyone using them?
Third, The way Halo is shoved into Mass Effect's past is very contrived.
It's a good fic with good characterization, but the worldbuilding Fridge Logic just irks me.
Hey i Found a good Fic for Shep/Garris shippers
So, anyone here read the Razors Edge series?
Glorious Shotgun Princess ... OMG, there are not words for this. I need to stop laughing this hard at work.
I only finished the first game and have zero knowledge of Exalted.
But the page image alone made me laugh.

(But didn't kill anyone.)
Nous restons ici.I have. I like it. It's probably the best Tali/Shep fanfiction I've ever read, though I could've done without the whole business with Shepard dying in the rachni nest and then coming back to life in the third.
Anyone here ever read Project Gethinator? It's very funny. For some reason though, the author took the sequel, Blood and Plutonium, off the site.

...The two best authors I've found are Sinvraal and akg.writes Both of them manage to make me like the Femshep/Kaidan pairing, and that's saying something. I much prefer Garrus.
Sinvraal does a great retelling of all three games, with a little original flair added to them. The one for ME 3 is more than half done, I'd guess.
akg.writes has only one story, and its slightly AU, but its the funniest damn thing I've ever read.

The pair Accidental Hero of the Galaxy and The Hero We Deserve are quite funny, and also are written with the entire crew of possible companions. Makes a lot more sense that way IMO; why would you take only a handful of people into the wildly dangerous place when you could bring all of them? It plays with the usual player tactic of steal-everything-that's-not-nailed-down, with Shepard commenting on how proud he is when his teammates start spontaneously looting as his example.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswGlorious Shotgun Princess kind of irks me in that it's so imbalanced. As someone who has working knowledge of Exalted, exalting Shepard as a Solar is the equivalent of dropping Goku in Skyrim. It would have been much more balanced if Shep was, say, an Abyssal (dying cold and alone in the vacuum of space), or an Infernal (Dying cold and alone in the vacuum of space without having stopped the Reapers). At least those come with downsides.
MIND BULLETSReading a very nice new fic by the name of XCOM: Second Contact. It's getting through the standard "overzealous turians get pwnd" opening, but it's promising. Favorite ME/Halo crossover is definitely Clash of Civilizations.
Any good raw ME fics?
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.I wrote a 1k word one-shot for a ME Valentine's day contest.
There's a number of good ME fanfics out there. Some other ones I read recently:
- Mass Effect: Human Revolution, which is a Mass Effect / Deus Ex Human Revolution crossover. Quite good, despite Shepard dying almost right at the start of the story.
- Love Messages, a Control one-shot centered around Garrus.
- Forfeit, a Destroy fic from Hackett's POV, very good and rather emotional.
- Calibration Can Wait, a Fem!Shep/Garrus one-shot.
- Silent Step, an STG one-shot!
And I suppose I could pimp out some just-started fic called What The Effect.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswHuman Revolution has lately gone bad.
Nous restons ici. Some other fics I've been reading recently to pimp out:
- The Biggest Fan, wherein Conrad Verner is an average guy teleported into the Mass Effect universe. A lovely humorous deconstruction of self inserts, and well worth the read. The author actually makes you feel sorry for the poor bastard.
- Ignominy in Effect, a series of one-shots relating all kinds of incredibly stupid deaths of Commander Shepard across all three games, from driving the Mako into lava to choking on Gardner's cooking.
- Fornax Stories. If you don't remember buying the Fornax magazine in ME 2, then don't read this. Volcor, Vorchtarian ... it's like a porn parody in written form.
- No Shepard Without Vakarian, and its sequal, Rhapsody in Green, the first one follows the whole Shakarian ship through the ME games, while the second is poor Garrus on his own, 22 years after Synthesis, having to learn how to play nice with the Reapers.
- A Day in the Life of a Big Goddamn Hero follows Zaeed through a mostly average day on the Normandy from his viewpoint. Much mockery of Jacob present here.
- Mass Effect Reloaded, by some guy, follows Shepard as she cheats and uses the Catalyst to go back in time and do the whole thing over again.
Also, because I can: The Quarian-Princess Bride. Yes, it is the Princess Bride done with the cast of Mass Effect instead.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - Silasw...wow, Human Revolution was quick to hit Nobody Dies-levels of narrative choke. Is this somehow required of all fics that originate on Space Battles or what?

Nous restons ici.Have I mentioned I really don't like Space Battles?
...Don't remember any comment of the sort. I only visit it for Unfamiliar (which is awesome and should be updated immediately!) anyway.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Well, I do. The forums there are rather fanoboyish and personal attacks are frequent.
What's Unfamiliar?
(clicks on trope link and sees main picture)
Nope.

Is there room for someone who likes Mass Effect, but is unable to play it for various reasons out of his control, and thus depends on the ME wiki, TV Tropes, and other sources for increasing his knowledge of the storyline and so on?
And an honest question: Has anyone ever done a fic where Shepard, male or female, Takes a Third Option and goes the Polyamory route, and it's done well?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I know there's a few people working on such fics* but I admit I have not read them. While I like the hottipped trio, I recognize that writing romance, let alone smut, is my definite weak point. I will ask the ff.net forum I'm on and see what suggestions people give.

Don't tell me I'm the only one who likes Mass Effect fanfiction. It has such a rich universe that it's hard not to find some good fanfiction. It also seems to be a pretty popular series to crossover with.
So, I think it deserves a thread.
