The song about fireflies, not the song for Firefly?

No not the show. I mean... his music is GOOD! I can listen to "When Can I See You Again" all the time! ... but he's a bit too light and fluffy in large portions!

... so, I suppose... get ready for an Owl City fest in 2015! -_-

Owl City in one whole movie next year, gosh, he's just everywhere, isn't he?

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

Yeah. Maybe I just don't understand where his fans are coming from but..... really?? There are enough people CLAMOURING to see Owl City in as many films as possible!? And why just animated!?

I highly doubt there's any particular reason for it besides "we need some pop music for our movie".

Oh, so Me and My Shadow is going to be one of the several Dreamworks movies venturing into musical territory? I'm not sure about B.O.O. but maybe this will be a interesting venture.

Considering the film's title, I expected the song with the same name to show up in the soundtrack. Seems like it ain't gonna happen, though...

But still, a new hand-drawn film is rather exciting! Even if not fully 2D.

I just hope they're still making the shadows in hand-drawn animation.

With this and the new French Little Prince film, sounds like things are turning for the better.

I think of that scene from Time Bandits where the midgets are dancing to the song, so I know what you mean. |D

I don't really care about music, so this does not bother me.

Apparently Dreamworks is tapping into the musical genre. I'm guessing the last time that happened was Shrek 2 but what do I know. I really like their 2D films. Maybe this will be in a similar category to Road to El dorado.

Maybe they are. They're making an animated musical that spoofs Bollywood films, where the characters will be monkeys. That's being animated by their Indian division. Maybe this will save them a bit from their business woes.

Personally I'm just happy the film wasn't shelved entirely. I was genuinely wondering what happened to it.

I wonder if the new Henry Selick film about "the Shadow King" will come out later in a couple of years. Different story but both films deal with the power struggles of shadowworlds.

Even though I am looking forward to Inside Out, I feel Me and My Shadow is more exciting for me. Mainly due to the fact it's a "little guy and his mystical buddy go against a giant evil entity" type of story. Something about it just makes me feel tingly. It helps that both films(besides Henry Selick's project) are original properties and not sequels. So I am excited for the films in general.

We heard by now that Dreamworks is reviving this project with a new concept, a new premise, a new writer, and new director. Edgar Wright has signed onto the project as of now.

If you're wondering if they're still going to use hand-drawn animation for some of it, just today I read that animator Sandro Cleuzo is on-board. Sandro, btw, only animates in hand-drawings! coolcoolcoolcool

Edgar Wright, isn't he the one who directed all those British comedies, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and half of Ant-Man?

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.

I remember seeing a pencil test of a guy with a shadow. I wonder If that scene will play out in the new version of this

I'm really, really happy that this film's concept has been taken off the shelf and also glad that it's still utilizing handdrawn animation. But hearing that Edgar Wright is on the project makes me downright ecstatic (I saw Hot Fuzz —which Wright directed/wrote— a few months ago, and I can easily say it's one of my favorite films ever). I really do hope the project isn't sidelined again, to lose Wright in the development would be absolutely crushing IMO.

(Here's the source, by the way.)

Eh, sounds ok. But im worried it will follow the typical "boy and his non-human friend" formula. But who knows, maybe this will be something new.
