Is there any games you wanna see but don't think will ever be made? I wanna a good Power Rangers or Super Sentai game or something with the ability to transform. Five or six players and fun combat.

Anybody else?

My dream game? An RTS/4X TBS strategy hybrid where you have command of both ground and space forces. To have an idea of scale, think of a cross between Sins of a Solar Empire for the space combat, World in Conflict Wargame: European Escalation for the ground combat, and Earth 2150 in terms of research and unit design.

The space combat would more or less play out exactly like it does in Sins: you shipyards, fleets, perform research for upgrades and newer weapons, etc. There would be two key differences though. First, in order to take over a planet you'd have to wipe out any forces within a certain range of it in order for your invasion forces to land safely. Attempting to "Force" your guys through would result in a percentage of the invasion forces getting killed before landing. Also the enemy might still have ground-based orbital guns to shoot down your ships, which means you'd have to decide between tolerating the planetary fire until you're ready to invade, or bomb the guns while risking damage to the planet's infrastructure.

Ground combat would be a mix between World in Conflict and Wargame: European Escalation. You'll start out with one "Safe" landing zone and call in your forces there, with the goal of destroying the enemy's command unit. You can also land your forces anywhere on the rest of the map, but you can only call in so many forces at a time: therefore, you can't call in all of your guys at once. Also, the enemy can build some AA missile units capable of intercepting and instantly shooting down your transports, as well as build radar sites to detect where exactly your forces are landing. That would prevent you from surrounding and rushing the enemy's most likely command positions.

You'd have about 4-5 unique races to choose from, each with a tech tree of various uprgrades and weapons to research. The units aren't restricted to using one weapon type either: for example you could change out the ammo types a unit uses, give it a better engine to improve it's speed, or even change it's main weapon out. The same goes for the starships as well: you wanna put a stronger, more power-consuming engine on your battleship to improve it's agility at the cost of having less punch with the guns? Or design your fighters to carry a variety of weapons while at the same times staying just as manuverable, but at a much greater expense? Go for it!

You could also mix-and match some of the unique techs from the different races. For instance, if you were to capture the tech of a race that relies entirely on organic units (read: Zerg), you could then apply some of their regenerative abilities to your infantry, allowing them to heal on the field. Capture the tech of a race that has point-defense lasers, and you could start building them for yourself. Find the tech for gauss cannons while playing as a race that's proficient with zero-g tech? Then you can start building your own mass-effect style guns!

Multiplayer would be the tricky part, though. Can't really think of a way this system would work well online without becomnig a drag. A lot of players wouldn't be interested in how long the matches in this sort of game could get, unless they don't mind continuing from save-states.

I probably could type a whole essay on how I would design my dream game, cause I've got tons of more ideas for it... but I think I'll stop here.

You know, if I had been asked this question awhile ago I basically would have answered with a description of Kingdoms Of Amalur or Dragons Dogma. I do enjoy those games, but it bugs me a lot that they aren't as perfect as they should be. So I'll just say... Like those two, only with much faster combat (Think Ninja Gaiden), set in a more unique world (I want dragons AND giant robots!), as many options to overcome a situation as Deus Ex and a level/equipment system that allows millions of combinations and focuses more on building a kit you enjoy using over just taking the sword with the biggest numbers.

An RPG based around Negima would be nice. Maybe a Rock Band game based around Led Zeppelin (for both fun and profitability).

And some kind of crossover fighter in which Dante and Kratos duke it out in what becomes an intense rivalry.

Dante probably isn't going to be in that game, though.

And even if he does it'll probably be... That other Dante. Eurgh.

That is interesting though, since Dante and Kratos are basically polar opposites. One's flippant, the other has one facial expression. One's stylish, the other's brutal. One's relaxed, one's driven. One's good, one's evil. One's awesome, one's lame. grin

I had an idea for a freeform game where you play as a spy on a large spaceship. (think the Starship Enterprise or Battlestar Galactica) Your objective is to destroy the ship through subterfuge. How you go about this is up to you - sabotage the engines somehow, take control of the bridge and pilot it into the sun, or anything else you can think of. The emphasis would be on detailed simulation of the ship's functions and crew. Say if you planted a bomb that damaged the life support system of the ship, the crew would have to spend time repairing it, which would take manpower away from other things. Each crew member would have a job aboard the ship they perform and a schedule they follow.

I'm not sure if this would translate to interesting gameplay, though.

  • Mega Man Universe
  • A Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest crossover (they're both under the same company now, why not?)
  • Both Digital Devil Saga games released together as one massive uber-game
  • Remakes of the first two Zelda games
  • A BIT.TRIP Metroidvania (BIT.TROID? I have so many ideas for this one)
  • A "God Game" where you have control over everything from the quantum to macroscopic scales - change the laws of physics, reverse entropy, take an interest in one particular mortal race and guide them from primitive cave-dwellers to a space-faring civilization - whatever you want

Somehow you know that the time is right.

More Fallout games made by Obsidian or anyone that isn't Bethesda, please.

Also Jade Empire 2.

That's pretty cool sounding. I'd also like to add that I want a Zatch Bell RPG that was released in English and it would have to have pretty good mechanics.

Also more text games with funny reactions to whatever you type. A lot of them tend to be really narrow.

How hard would it be a multiplayer JRPG in the style of Final Fantasy Dragon Quest etc? I wanna play that. Why hasn't anybody tried that before? I realize it would be hard to implement with everyone traveling together but it would be a nice experiment.

Didn't Zelda the four swords have something like this?

[up]: Would you be thinking of something like Dragon Quest IX? It had multiplayer and kept turn based combat. I heard it did pretty well.

A real 3D platformer that isn't by Mario or Sonic.

@Azure Seas: That looks great! Thank you! The problem is though that I would need to find three or even just one other person with the that game as well sense there is no Wi-Fi. Anything like that for a console? Even just a basic one guy can be the healer, wizard, etc...that isn't a MMO?

@Physical Stamina: Ever hear of Sly Cooper? Or you don't like that? What exactly do you mean by real? Not trying to start an argument I honestly want to know.

A sequel to Shining Soul 2 for the 3DS, done like Heroes Of Ruin for the same system, concerning multiplayer and quests. Oh, and with a better character-editor, more classes and such.

[up][up]One of the GBA JRPGs. One of the DS TRPGs.

Then there's whether or not you consider the PS 2 titles as counting.
