Uh so someone brought this up last page but
I can't edit the page on it (for OBVIOUS reasons and I agree with keeping it locked) but. ...I read the book.
I do not remember Christian actually raping Ana, although I admit, my memory might be hazy and I may have blacked out parts of it.
I feel like that's jumping the gun a bit?
I can't believe I'm defending these books but I. Don't feel we need to villiainize them THAT much. There are MANY MANY MANY horrible things in the book already without having to cry rape.
(The attempted rape trope I'll agree with though, as Jack Hyde at one point does confront Ana and there's definitely undertones of it. Granted, it only got as far as him copping a feel before Ana pulled back his fingers and kicked him in the balls.)

Does the example say what book it supposedly happens in? It may have happened in a later installment. It seems like a long-shot, but she does leave at the end of Book 1; maybe he wins her back with Rape Is Love in Book 2? I dunno.

It said that he raped her on our page. It's certainly possible that the page is inaccurate. I haven't actually read the books, nor do I ever intend too.
What he does is take advantage of her ignorance and naivety, as well as pressuring her into doing things she doesn't want to do all the fucking time. I consider that sexual assault.
I had no idea that was how locked pages were edited. Thank you for linking that, I'm going to look through the thread and see if I can find the original requests to add those tropes.
It mentions book chapters specifically at one point, citing examples from the first book. It's been a few weeks to a month since I read that book and that part of it, so I might be remembering wrong.
Rape through deceit in that case?
I made a post on the editing locked thread about this, if any of you want to pipe in there feel free.
(and again I am so sorry I'm kind of sort of defending these pieces of shit)
I think this crap is going to be just like Titanic — popular for a while, then fit for nothing but Snark Bait. If the Amazon reviews are any indication, it's already on its way there.
My mum says I'm insidious.Definitely one of the worst books I have ever seen. (Yes, it's so terrible you can see the image of it...or something.) Christian Grey I would even say crosses Complete Monster territories. He's that bad. Romance my ass, this is nothing short of a sick, unhealthy relationship novel.
Guys I got a copy of the last book in the trilogy. I'm gonna read it soon. Pray for me.
It's the one where Ana gets pregnant, Christian acts like a douche about it oh and apparently her boss kidnaps Christian's sister or something?

The third book contains the most blatant copy of Twilight's "climax" I've ever seen. I seriously do not understand how Meyer didn't sue the hell out of the author.
That's what I heard!
Meyer is probably laughing her ass off, plus suing the other author might not be legally advisable (there's certainly a chance of losing).
A brighter future for a darker age.I hope it goes the way of Titanic. It probably will, I think Twilight is pretty much going to be there shortly after the movie series finishes. Also, maybe Stephenie Meyer felt she had nothing to gain from suing? It would probably settle out of court anyway seeing as this woman has already made a killing. But I haven't read the books, is the plot stealing that bad? Like does it seem like the only way it could be more like Twilight is if the characters were named Nedward Pullen and Della Goose?

The climax is almost word for word ripped from the ending of the first Twilight book. It was ridiculous.
The two leads are so similar to Edward and Bella that it's ridiculous. This wouldn't be a problem if it had remained a shitty fanfic, but it's been published and sold millions. WHY.
All of the characters save for maybe one or two are expies of Twilight characters. The same people pair up. The prose is basically the same as Twilight but with some more Britishisms and a tendency to emphasis THERE.
There were also a few times when Ana was in grief that she'd describe her depression the same way Bella's New Moon depression was described.
Although Bella didn't have a subconscious or an inner goddess. Might have made the books more interesting if she did.

You'd think James would actually bother to change up the CHARACTERISTICS of her characters as well, no? Guh...
She changed their eye colors, that's something, right?
A quick Google search shows that the term "Inner Goddess" is used over 58 times in-book. LMAO.
So I'm reading the third book. It's tedious and dumb.
I finished chapter five and I got so angry at it. It's trying to have a suspensful plot full of tension and shit, but it's all just an excuse for them to fuck in new and mysterious ways.
I haven't even gotten to Ana getting pregnant yet But I have a feeling that that will also cause me to flip my shit.
Would it be horrible of me to buy a physical copy of this book and set it aflame?
I detest book burnings and what they stand for normally but given the circumstances...
Wait for winter and pretend you need to use it for warmth.
i. hear. a. sound.Well, the trouble I've always had with burning books as a sign of how much you hate them is, you have to buy the books in order to burn them. You're giving the publisher and author your money.
Be not afraid...In that case, print off a copy of the PDF I acquired through perfectly legal means and burn that?
(But pages cost 4 cents apiece at my school and it's at least a 800 page PDF...)
You could buy a copy at a second-hand store. Just be sure to handle it with tongs.
i. hear. a. sound. You know your writing club advisor is awesome when she says you're allowed to use passages from this book as examples in presentations about writing guidelines and her only restrictions are "no explicit scenes" and "no reenactments."
Time to torrent a copy and get snipping.

The last battle's curtains will open on stage!Hee! That should be fun.
A brighter future for a darker age.
For those who want to hear this but can't bring themselves to buy it;
He's done the other two as well.
...Dear God, this is actually giving me a headache.
