Most of it is stuff that was behind the curtain, and is absolutely fine.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

@Morven: That is of course perfectly true. Yet the courts are not known to change opinions in a matter of days. To decide to go against precedent is usually a product of development over a much longer period of time, and is usually the result of a change in general opinion and overall perception of what is deemed morally and sociably correct or reprehensible among the populace. Not simply due to a change of perception on a day-to-day basis within the courts themselves.

But then of course, the court metaphor does not work in this case because of the great difference when it certain very important key principles.

The important thing here is that the 5P's guidelines should not be seen as swaying back and forth when the Panel is in the process of discussing works. It could possibly lead to speculation and debate over issues decided upon before and after a certain shift in the guidelines.

But keep in mind that this of course is a subjective opinion, as the Panel stands as I understand it entirely free to define the guidelines as they deem most appropriate. I am simply stating how it may be perceived from the outside when there are sudden great changes in the Panel's guidelines.

I agree that consistency is a good goal to have and we should have it as much as we can — I just don't think that I'd prioritize it above the 5P council learning their jobs or the site owner/mods defining the scope of that task better as we consider it further.

Of course, were this not the Internet, we'd probably discuss it over six months before doing anything, but then we'd probably blank everything questionable until we decided for sure, too. Online patience is not up to that kind of timeframe, I think — we tend to prefer quick and evolving processes to ponderous ones, I've generally observed.

A brighter future for a darker age.

Okay, so what exactly has changed between the FECc guidelines and the current version? I'm getting the feeling that it might have been simply a rephrasing of the FECc guidelines into non-bulleted format without actual change in the meaning.

I'm not certain, but I looked up the cached version of the page, which was last edited on 21st, and compared it with the current revision (25th).

It looks like the main addition was the prima facie exemption, but the post wordings were also edited here and there.

Most notably, the following was either removed or incorporated into the actual text as proper sentences, though I do not see it anywhere.

A work contains:
  • Explicit sex
    • Between adults
      • Is arousal the primary reaction the work as a whole is going for?
      • Is it the sole aim of the work?
      • If yes to both, cut. If no to the first, probably okay. If yes to the first but no to the second, more context needed.
    • Between an adult and a teenager: Likely cut. Depends on other factors. Context needed.
    • Between an adult and a pre-teen: cut.
    • Between teenagers: Possibly cut. Depends on other factors, like who the work is aimed at and whether it is a large portion of the work. Context needed.
    • Between pre-teens: cut.
  • Implied sex
    • Between adults: A-okay.
    • Between an adult and a teenager: Depends on context.
    • Between an adult and a pre-teen: Depends on context. If it is shown as a positive, it is out.
    • Between teenagers. Probably okay.
    • Between pre-teens. Nope
  • Portrays children in a sexually provocative image: Not okay. We realize there are creeps out there who will find any image of a child provocative, but we mean things like up-skirt images.

Lots of probablies and possiblies, I know. That's why we need human beings making the call.

The "up skirts image" sounds suspiciously like cutting everything at with a Panty Shot of a teenager. If that is the case, we need to add at lot of fanservice heavy works like "Hayate Combat Butler'' back to the review like list that the mods have already rejected as being trolling suggestions.

Nothing was actually decided. Fast Eddie purged most of the old content from the voting tool because of the trolling and put up precautions against frivolous flagging. You'll have to resubmit problematic works, I'm afraid.

Monster Girl Quest is Porn with Plot and I find the censored version quite enjoyable.

Guess how I found out about it? TV Tropes.

Same as with Saya No Uta.

Keep it up and all the Porn with Plot will be gone. So what if you don't like it. Other people do.

Sexual horror is just as valid as any other type of horror. That's what made Alien so terrifying.

^^ Here you go.

^ There's also this, but not all those pages have been flagged.

By the way, while Sengoku Rance has been tagged I'd like to suggest that that be one of the topics we open a thread for. It's in a fairly gray area. No pedophile pandering, but it has a lot of Black Comedy Rape and in general treats rape as though it's not a damaging issue.

Sorry, posted that while running out the door.

Gonna try to move it from my mobile, but idk if that's gonna work.

Edit: No dice.

However, I'd like to make a general statement about all this hate on "disgusting sexual horror." If that's gonna be banned, then go after the Alien movies. Quite a bit of non-consentual oral sex there and in the first film, one character is raped by a very phallic tail. And that HR Giger fellow is a well known porn artist. Gotta go too.

I'm just sayin'. Same thing, so it's gotta go. That is unless all this "standards" talk is just empty rationalization for a purge of everything a select few don't like. No attempt to understand the story or characters or intent, just purge purge purge.

[up][up] True, there is Rape as Drama, but it's by the villains, and it's fairly grotesque. While it makes Rance look good in comparison, the actions he takes still scar a lot of women's lives and the game makes fun of it. People may call Rance out on it, but they usually tolerate it abnormally well.
