Yeah, it's really not that difficult.
Some actors have quite a chameleon face, where they can look radically different with only minor changes. Will Smith in that poster looks remarkably similar to his appearance in Ali, with what seems like a longer face and more prominent forehead. I think it might have something to do with not having a mustache or goatee.

And now it's out. Okay, anyone actually seen it yet?
The impression I'm getting,is that it's predictable Post-Signs fair,...however it's still better than almost anything else in recent time.
I suspect,this one'll be So Okay, It's Average or sub-par

Haven't watched it yet, but it got 13% on RT.. yesterday was 12%, I believe.
It can't be that bad, can it? Well, at least it score higher than TLA.
From what I've been reading is that it's nothing BAD but actually just very boring. I guess that is probably a worse offense because at least being interesting does a lot to override flaws in a story.
To be fair RT is vulnerable to casting like that,I bet if some other director did this,it wouldn't have been at 6%,same thing with whatever The Happening got.
It bet it's just because of Shyamalan
The Chronicle gave it a Sleeping Man,The Man wasn't even in the chair for TLA.
It also doesn't help that one of the core things is one of the teachings that Will knows.
Did we all forget Will Smith was a member?

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987I thought that was just a rumor. Him and his wife denied that they were Happyologists.
All I have to say about this is that "fear is a choice" is a silly tagline. Fear is what prevents you from doing stupid things like walking off a cliff.
No it isn't, it's danger. Danger is real.
hashtagsarestupidAnd fear helps you recognize danger.
it's your head allows you recognise danger. You must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
hashtagsarestupidI was so disappointed with Penn and Teller debunked the Litany Against Fear (or other metaphors.)
I'm a skeptical squirrelI didn't see that episode.
While I share alot of their political leanings. I really wouldn't take any of their claims too seriously. They would claim to 'debunking' gravity if it clashed with their world view.
hashtagsarestupidYou'd think that after The Last Airbender no one would want to put "From M. Night Shyamalan" in front of their movie's title.
Dunno about where you are, but where I am, the M Night Shyamalan name isn't actually on the trailers for After Earth.
I doubt it will be prominent on the posters either (though it will be there).
So we agreed then. This is the end of this man's career.
hashtagsarestupidHuh, it's on everywhere over here.
Yeah, I knew it was an M Night film because, hey, troper! Everyone I mentioned it to was surprised (and a little disappointed).
Good thing I Didn't know it was a Shyamalan movie then. I enjoyed the movie actually. It wasn't that good, but I am not disappointed to see it. Also, the advertisers cleverly hid Shyamalan from me.
I actually expected Will and Jaden to kick ass in the big screen together, sharing ass kicking scenes and stuff. But this was better, giving the kid a chance to kick ass on his own. It even got me to mostly ignore the science problems in the movie.
M. Knight is chasing the benjamins. I'm positive he was hogtied by the studio into being "the next Hitchcock" when the last thing he wanted was to direct thrillers.
I'm a skeptical squirrelAs it turns out. Shyamalan is a good Director. Just keep his stupid hands out of the screenplay and the original story and you are gonna be fine.
(Also, he needs to fire that hack screenwriter he keeps dragging around also coincidentally named M. night Shyamalan)
I'm a skeptical squirrelWho it you who said that Kevin Costner is a good actor but he's career has been brought down by the decisions of a terrible producer coincidentally also called Kevin Costner?
That could be a thread- Slashies who are terrible at one of their halves but good at the other.
I recognized Will Smith just fine.
