1. Plotholes
2. Being GT.
3. Half of the continuity porn isn't part of the continuity.
Now, from the Time to Unlock More True Potential page:
- Gohan sorta embodies this trope in the Dragon Ball world since he is the one with the most "hidden powers." Though Goku is by far the one who makes the most power level jump; from less than 100 power level at the beginning of the series to hundreds of bagillion by the end.
- It's pratically the entire point of the Cell Saga. Gohan learns to let his true potential shine and, as the Buu saga shows, this is as powerful as he'll ever get in the series.

I think I should axe the part about Goku in the first example, as it's unfounded. The second one is definitely getting the axe because it's completely wrong.

Mercenary Tao and King Piccolo remain the best villains to ever grace DB/Z/GT. Who's with me?
Sorry, just love DB to pieces. I can't wait to celebrate Piccolo Day next month.

What's Piccolo day?
I still think Boo is the best villain.
Surprising that you think Tao Pai Pai is one of the best when he got schooled so easily. Don't get me wrong, I like him too, it's just surprising.

Cell is the best villain, easily.
Freeza for worst villain.
Worst as in "most evil" or worst as in "worst"?
Worst as in "piece of shit".
Piece of shit how? In power? In personality? In design?

What's Piccolo Day you ask? Why, it's the most wonderful time of the year!
And in case F Uni has bloccked the video or some other gay shit, it was King Piccolo's twisted plan to annihilate each section of the world over the course of 40 years.
As for Tao, I simply liked his style. More villains should kill their foes using just their tongue.
I do like Cell and Super Buu. It's just that they are in Z and Z has a lot of flaws.
Meh. Z has no more or less flaws than Dragon Ball without the Z to me.
Oh, and Piccolo was an awesome villain for stuff like that holiday idea!

There is no Z in the manga.
RE: Freeza: Everything.
Same goes for Perfect Cell.
Freeza was the best villain in that he was not created or programmed to be evil. He had his own free will and yet chose to be unrepentant asshole we love to hate
My President is Funny Valentine. My problem with Freeza is his overpoweredness and how he did not earn it.
Look at Cell. He actually started off -weaker- than Piccolo. He would have died had it not been for his fleeing.
When he resurfaces, he is again weaker than someone, in this case Vegeta. He thus manipulates the overly proud vegetable into letting him become complete.
Cell never would have gotten anywhere without strategy.
Freeza? Well he's just super-duper powerful all along. If he starts losing to someone, he'll just pull another transformation out of his ass. And if he's out of transformations, he'll just add another percentage to his power level.
It's boring. I mean, even Super Buu could make plans.
His personality was also thoroughly dull. An evil tyrant? Wow....amazing!
Morgoth he is not therefore one of the weakest and most overused tropes out there holds him down considerably.
And speaking of Super Buu, he was pretty neat. This awesome theme song helped a lot of course.

There is no Z in the manga.
And that's how I most like to see it. To me, the original and Z sagas are all the same Dragon Ball.
RE: Freeza: Everything.
In that sense, yes, Freeza is the biggest shit in the whole series.
Cell never would have gotten anywhere without strategy.
Or in the case of when he blew himself up but was revived even stronger than ever, dumb luck. Not even he was aware of his design's fullest extent but when he found it out, he was estatic that he could basically go on living forever and dominating the universe. What an asshole.
Freeza? Well he's just super-duper powerful all along. If he starts losing to someone, he'll just pull another transformation out of his ass. And if he's out of transformations, he'll just add another percentage to his power level.
I can see your point there but in some ways, that made it more satisfying when Goku finally gets the upper hand. The moment Goku turns Super Saiyan for the first time, Freeza's done for. It's a Curb-Stomp Battle in Goku's favor even when Freeza goes 100% full power on him. And that kind of takes away some suspense, but damn if Freeza's Villainous Breakdown throughout the whole thing isn't awesome.
His personality was also thoroughly dull. An evil tyrant? Wow....amazing!
No, he's a Faux Affably Evil Smug Snake tyrant who gives off an air of utter narcicism but partially to hide his own paranoia and cowardice. Also something of an overgrown Spoiled Brat, too. He's sort of like Shere Khan in that he acts all polite and civil towards his enemies because he's so confident in how powerful he is that he feels he doesn't need to show any hostility and instead toys with his prey. But when someone actually gets the upper hand over him, he gets pissed. Majorly pissed.
And keep in mind that I'm speaking of the Freeza you see in the original version and the DBZ Kai dub. The old dub "Frieza" was watered down considerably to be more of a generic evil alien overlord.
And speaking of Super Buu, he was pretty neat. This awesome theme song helped a lot of course.
I enjoyed Super Buu when he was regular Super Buu. After absorbing Piccolo, Gotenks, and Gohan, he just got more and more obnoxious to me. But yeah, his theme was second only to Perfect Cell's in catchy awesomeness.

No, I've read the manga and Freeza is super boring in that as well.
Perfect Cell is boring/annoying because the power up is improbably powerful compared to his first transformation and he just keeps powering up and powering up and then when he can't power up any more he self destructs and powers up some more. I loved Imperfect Cell though, actually working for his power and being creepy and shit.
And I liked Super Boo less when he started absorbing people but he was still awesome.
Cannot agree with any form of Majin Buu being better than Freeza and Perfect Cell, who are both my favorite villains. Buu just suffered way too much from the handling of his saga, especially in the rushed, poorly written later parts of it. And to me, super powerful, serious villains are just better antagonists and bigger threats than ludicrous pink monsters.

I can't agree with Freeza or Perfect Cell being better than dirt.
Boo saga is best saga.

You have no more credibility as a DBZ fan to me, then. The way I see, the Buu saga was easily the weakest saga of the Z portion of the manga, mainly because Toriyama was really sick of writing the series by that point which resulted in the pace getting rushed. Naturally, the anime padded it out more, but in the manga, Evil Buu surfaced at the end of the third to last volume and the series just fell apart in the last two.
And Buu as a villain has nothing on Cell, Freeza, Vegeta, Piccolo, or even Emperor Pilaf. So there.

...dude, opinions, man. Saying I'm not a credible fan is utter shit.
What I said was: "You have no more credibility as a DBZ fan to me, then." Key word: to me. Basically, it's my opinion that your opinions wreck your credibility.
edited 7th Apr '12 7:04:18 PM by ManwiththePlan
That's still a fucking stupid thing to say.
Fine. "Credibility" probably wasn't even the word I was looking for, anyway.
Best saga of Dragonball to me was Saiyan arc. Vegeta would count to me as the best villain if not for his Heel Face Turn later.
My President is Funny Valentine. So here's a topic.
Best World Martial Arts Tournament/Tenka'ichi Budōkai?
The question came to me when I was thinking about buying the Dragon Ball anime seasons. Season 1 is okay if you're new to the series. The Pilaf saga is pretty weak in terms of rewathcability (exempting Bulma in bunnysuit) but the 21st Tournament is decent. Even still, decent isn't enough to make me spend money on that whole season.
Season 3 and 4 have the 22nd Tournament and from my memory, it was the best. I thought Goku vs. Tien was one of the best battles in all of DB. (including the post-Saiyan stuff) Tien was also an amazing character at that time and his character development was actually well-done..
Although am I alone in raging at Goku's bullshit loss? That damn truck or car or whatever it was pissed me off.
I honestly don't remember too much about the 23rd Tournament apart from Kami possessing some poor goofball and humiliating Yamcha. Surprisingly, I remember almost nothing from Goku vs. piccolo jr.
So yeah...your thoughts?
Egads, the Continuity Porn! I've been told GT is bad, but how could something with this much Continuity Porn possibly be bad?
